How does everyone here store their crypto? I just had about $800 worth of Eth stolen. A year and a half ago had $100 (don't even want to calculate the current value) of btc stolen. I am a system administrator, and even though I am pretty willy nilly with not being super secure with the keys on my computer, I like to think I know enough that my machine doesn't become compromised. This latest loss was through Metamask, which is retrospect was pretty dumb to use with my daily browser
trezor...
TREZORbuy the 3 pack. now!
BTW you can use metamask with trezor, the difference is you have to press trezor button to send coins-->which a hacker can't do
you can also use them for hardware 2fa on sites (exchanges, email etc.) if you don't have yubi keys yet, yubi keys have more sites supported but trezor might be enough for some.
Be careful with those screen shots Phil. I just had my SIM card ported and my email/coinbase account passwords reset. Coinbase's default 2FA authentication goes to your phone and your email is security is also garbage if its 2FA is also your phone. I guess they upgraded my coinbase (which was basically unused) to coinbase pro and I guess that gave them instant access to all crypto on the account. Drained my bank account to coinbase and transferred it out to their address in less than 30 minutes...
Wow that really sucks and really sorry to hear that. You have to be super protective of all your online devices these days. People have to realize that your phone and email is pretty much the gateway to just about all your online accounts. Guard them well especially since it's so easy to lose your phone.
yeah you have to use google auth
i have a dedicated phone for it. never leaves the house.
yup for sites that only supported google auth...and it is always offline. note: you might want to picture the QR code (in that phone) before saving it in the google auth, then usb back up that pics.
got a samsung s4 i think..it is old but with anker big battery upgrade, since it is always offline it can go for a week or more without charging hehe
here is another bank security...i got a passbook account, if i cash out to that account--the balance can only be "viewed" online but "cannot transfer" from that account since you have to physically go to the bank to withdraw or transfer.
