For info, here are the links to the zerocash project and paper. Have't yet had time to read them yet

http://zerocash-project.org/

http://zerocash-project.org/media/pdf/zerocash-extended-20140518.pdf

Hi gnos1s,

After skimming the Zerocash paper, I wonder if you could clear up a few points for us:

First, in your opinion, will it be possible to use zk-SNARKs to reduce the size of the zerocoin proof? The authors are not too clear on this point.

Second, will it be possible to choose the initial setup parameters for zerocash without relying on trusted third parties, such as with RSA-UFOs?

Finally, it is my understanding that the total amount encoded into zerocash can not be calculated, as the amount is hidden in the zerocash coin commitment. Would it be possible to create new coins (or perhaps double spend) without getting caught if the initial setup parameters were known? Or would this just let the person steal existing zerocash coins?

In my opinion, we need to do a very good job at explaining to the community the strengths and weaknesses of Zerocoin and Zerocash. If zerocash is released (which seems very likely), there is likely to be a mad dash to ditch zerocoin/anoncoin for zerocash. Many people are already referring to zerocash as "v2", with the implication that v2 is better than, and makes obsolete, v1....

I have asked him on profile page about your problem.
Next time try to ask at his profile:

In some other situation that is ok to PM gnos1s,

My Anoncoin T-Shirts from anoncoinbuy.com just arrived!

They shipped a quality product on time and as planned. They were very responsive to my requests for information and provided the tracking number for the shipment. All in all a very positive transaction.

The T-shirts look great. ANC Represent!  Grin

Let's see! Let's see!

No, I doubt they have time for PR. That's why I said, "I would encourage them to reach out for assistance with promotion which can run concurrently with development."

I agree that creating ANC sites independent of the developers would not be a good idea. There's way too much potential for misinformation, among other things. It would cause confusion and even more headaches for the devs. Now, if the devs are giving guidance with regard to promotion, then great.

It looks like the ANC devs are very busy and they can't devote a lot of time to this board and/or promotion, and while I'd like to see more of their involvement here, I'm taking their relative -- and I emphasize relative -- lack of involvement here as a sign that they're busy with ANC development. If I had a choice between them spending more time here or on working on ANC development, I'd rather them work on ANC development.

It would be great if they were more involved in promotion, but people can only so much. As a former developer, I want to give the devs the benefit of the doubt --> that they're busy with development. They have much to gain if they are (and much to loose if they aren't) and believe me, they know that. I would encourage them to reach out for assistance with promotion which can run concurrently with development, but let's not be so quick to bite the hands that are making ANC possible.

maybe it's better from a PR point of view to register a domain more like anoncoinusers.xxx, anoncoininfo.xxx or something that makes it clear to the visitor that it's not the official page, to not confuse and complicate things (we want to make things easier, not more confusing).

another idea could be to have a wiki.anoncoin.net where the community are free to contribute, as in any wiki.

i'm talking with the developers about anoncoin.net and will give it a try when i know which direction they want me to head.
ideas are more than welcome, one thing that didn't cross my mind is to have a donation address, thank you lunokhod2.

We should make a precise list of things to do, to make Anoncoin more popular.

When we will have list like that, we will able to do a contest on forum with guaranted reward.
If there will be more than one solution, will make a choice over a vote system.

For example:
We need to make a clear tutrioal about "How to handle the built in TOR and I2P system"
At first we will have make a topic on one forum with explanation about the problem,
then we will add a reward to the topic with nicknames of people that guarante the reward.

Why only on one forum? It's simple, we don't want to have multiple instances of the same problem in diffrent forums, it will help us to avoid problems like that,
Of course we can spread a link to the contest on other forums.

Hi Arlic, I am glad to see this enthusiasm! Nevertheless, I would just like to warn you that the developers do not appear interested in "promoting" this coin, and they seem to be unwilling to delegate PR to an outsider. (Conversely, they appear active in developing the code  Smiley ). I in fact suggested a similar thing as you about a month ago.

I am still a believer in this coin, but from my perspective, the community will have to take the lead on PR without any contribution from the core developers.

I think that the best way to proceed would be to create a new, community based, web site that is 100% divorced from the developers. One possibility, which is still available, is anon-coin.org. From this web site, we could ask for donations, from which we could offer bounties on the prioritized list you mention (there is no donation address on the official website...). Of course, we would need someone to organize all this: I would be happy to provide the text for the web site, but that is about it. Perhaps n00n would be willing to do the web design... Is anyone willing to buy the domain name and host such a site?

Probably DNS'es are down again.

The website is at activosys.no servers.

Hi @,
I love the concept behind anoncoin.

IMHO here we have a problem, we need to know that things are going on

The last post on twitter was written 28 of april, and now we know that the zerocoin will not be implemented, the the zercoin's devs stop to develop it in favour of zerocash (that will be presented the 18).

We need a sign from meeh or one of the devs; the community sometimes is at least as important that the features implemented on a coin.

This is my thought

Gnos1s was very busy today, and I'm happy to see this!
