I agree with this lottery offering proving that it is indeed very difficult to convince people to want a vaccine. Maybe in addition to this lottery offering,
more education should be made to many people about the importance of vaccines. But the idea of offering a lottery for people willing to get a vaccine is
a brilliant idea not many other governments are doing. Perhaps what the Ohio government is doing is starting to be followed by other regions in America,
if it can be followed by other countries as well.
Yes, the education will be important to give for people to realize that it is important to get vaccinated. Although the vaccine can not fully protect them from the virus, they can get immunity for themselves while they can still try to take care of their health and try to healthy. But it is hard to convince people, even if they see the number of the Covid case still increasing day by day. Hopefully, people want to get vaccinated, with or without a lottery, because that is for their health and protection from the virus.

It is indeed a sad fact that is happening now, with the spread of the virus continuing, doesn't make a lot of people aware of the importance of
getting a vaccine. Maybe the government really should be more serious in educating the public about the importance of vaccines, because there is
still a lot of misleading news that continues to spread today regarding the side effects of vaccines. Maybe this is the factor that causes people to
hesitate to get vaccinated. I agree that everyone should be enthusiastic about being vaccinated with the lottery or without the lottery,
if they all understood the importance of vaccines.

I won't get myself vaccinated just to have a chance to get millions of money. I have a neighbor who died after she get vaccinated and the family only received 1 sack of rice (50kg) and then forgotten that it happened. Even now in my country, if you get vaccinated you'll get money right after. Each people have different body and the immune system is also different because some are strong and some are weak.
You have a valid reason not to get vaccinated but I believe time will come that you’ll get your vaccine simply because its working already and the world pandemic slowly disappearing now, can’t wait for that moment. Anyway, every government is trying their best to to fully vaccinated their citizen so they can resume the economy, this is a good strategy to attract them but hopefully no more vaccine incidents so many will gain their trust on the vaccine.

When you do make yourself some vaccine just because you do hope for a million and just neglect out the risk on getting side effects then better you havent considered such step.

Why not? It's a big advantage and you won't find an offer like that at any place.

It isnt really an enough reason for me to get vaccinated because im still hesitant on what would be the possible risk that could rise up later on.Important thing here is that you should strengthen your immune system and trying not to expose of yourself into the public so that you wont be risking out yourself to get infected.

Those vaccines, despite being rush, are clinically proven to be effective in the long run. There's no way WHO will just allow those companies to market their vaccine if it didn't pass tons of several clinical trials. It was well-funded.

Being healthy is already common to deal with the virus but please be fair to others who lined up for the vaccine because NOT all people can become healthy just as you. There are people who need to rely on the effectiveness of the vaccine.

There are check-ups first before a person will allow being vaccinated. Maybe that neighbor of yours participated in the trials. Of course, there's no 100% prevention against the virus but at least the world is doing efforts.

Today, there are lots of trials already made that even people with pre-medical conditions are now safe. There are also neighbors of mine with the age playing from 70+ who already completed their vaccine doses.

What do you think of this? Do you agree with what the governor of Ohio is doing or are you against it?

as a guy who wanted to get vaccinated so I can be more at ease, yeah I am fine with it. these incentives are just a bonus for me. also, I agree with what Darker45 said it would be better to lower the winning amount and to increase the number of people that can be picked as a winner. although, getting a chance of winning $1million has a better ring to it than winning a $100k. I wish my government would do the same.

Maybe it will happen, right now the incentive itself is to get the vaccine and be free of having to live your life afraid of the virus, but as things are going I am not going to get the vaccine in a very long time, which means that by that time I could get it there is going to be less enthusiasm coming from the population to get the vaccine which means that offers like this one could pop all over the world and you will get the best of both worlds, you will get the vaccine and maybe a small chance to make some significant amount of money.

Well, I find this campaign hilarious! Is this how hard to convince people to have themselves vaccinated that you had to give them hopes to win prized after being vaccinated? I think it would be better to fix their behavior first and teach/let them know the consequences of them not being vaccinated and the pro sequences when they are. They would only make the people feel that they aren’t trustworthy enough to have the vaccination to the mass executed.

Because not all people had a healthy body mate  and people like us who has a internal problem are afraid of the vaccine effect.
Maybe experts not seeing the possibilities but me? i will not risk my life and i would rather be isolated from people just to be protected from covid than vaccination .

A large number of the new deaths from the new strains of COVID 19 is now occurring in young people who don't have any comorbidities. If you can isoalate yourself, then it is good for you. But for how long you are going to isolate? What if the pandemic goes on for 5 years? Will you reside inside your room and never step outside for 5 years? What I am trying to say is that vaccination is the only solution. The infection spreads through air, and no matter how much you try, eventually it will catch up with you.

for those who believe that Vaccine will bring risk to their health surely wont risk this Bet of their life just to have a million dollar chance.

Me? lol i would rather not win 1 million than to make my self uneasy from that vaccine.

I don't know why people are still resisting vaccination. Already more than 1 billion people have been vaccinated around the world. If this vaccine was so bad, then millions would have died and many more would have become handicapped. Has any of that happened? Unfortunately these people who are refusing to get vaccinated are posing a health hazard to others around them. Because unless 70% of the population is vaccinated, herd immunity can't be achieved. The unvaccinated people will continue to be carriers of the disease and it will linger on until the effects of the first vaccination campaign is gone (the effect of vaccine only lasts for 1 to 5 years, and after that it needs to be repeated).

I don't believe that it is a "brilliant" idea. Those who are not taking the vaccine are mostly antivaxxers, who believe that the vaccines will make the individual impotent or result in other complications. I don't think that they will rush for vaccination, just because the state government has offered a one in one billion chance of winning a lottery jackpot. The state government should rather care about those who are willing to get vaccinated. After all, it is a personal choice and the authorities can't infringe on it.

They should have set up some barangay orientations about the vaccine if they do really have the hard time on convincing out people on a certain city and since it is composed
with several places then its not a bad idea on setting up some educational teachings or similar things like that to make people aware on what are the benefits of getting
vaccinated but of course they shouldnt forget to mention about the risk but for some assurance that efficacy is much more higher and that what matter most.
People do mind on getting not to be infected rather than into their fear on not to get some vaccination.

What do you think of this? Do you agree with what the governor of Ohio is doing or are you against it?

I don't see any reason to think of that as negative so I agree with it as long as that money is properly bid in a good process and agreed by anyone else on their local government unit. It's a form of encouragement as not all people really like to get vaccinated even with those top vaccines with high efficiency rate.

All I can say is, I hope there's the same program here in our local government unit too lol. But honestly, it's a good initiative that government will do anything just to encourage people to be vaccinated.
You have a point and you're right.
There could be better approaches rather than this. They should have invested that funds to buy another supply of vaccines and simply build trust in the public so they could willingly have themselves vaccinated.

I just find this approach very much desperate in a way that the government is begging the people which is ineffective. People will not be pleased on this way we can tell that. But if they built the trust and they deserve it, then we will realize that we are the ones who would benefit from it, right?

Yeah its a really good initiative by their government but that would really come a cost or simply getting those funds out from those tax itself from the citizens so it isn't really that much surprising.

Good thing that they do come up with an idea for them to hook up the community to get vaccinated with this kind of way neither this would be effective or would be just simply be ignored

again just because they were to afraid on taking up the risk on getting the vaccine.Unless if its really that mandated or strictly imposed then that would be leaving no choice.

I wouldn't want my tax dollars going towards incentives for getting vaccines.  Other than that I don't see a problem with it.  If people are willing to compromise themselves for a lotto ticket, they are free to do so.  Personally, I think this is a bit of a case of using people's ignorance to get them to do what you want.  Obviously the odds are bad that someone would win this, but I'm sure it isn't stopping people from trying to get their shot for a lotto ticket.  If you flash some money you can get people who are bad at math to do just about anything.

People are withing their rights to refuse the vaccine, but as you say it is better if the majority takes it, after all we are seeing new mutations of the virus which seem to spread faster and are even more lethal, this is what it is happening in India and now we are seeing the horrible results, also I think that even if people do not want to take the vaccine in order to protect others it makes sense to at least take it not only for their own health but also because I do not think they want to be on a lockdown again, which could happen if the new mutations of the virus prove to be resistant to the vaccine and we are back at square one.

In an attempt to increase the number of people getting vaccinated all kind of incentives are being given in the US, one of the most interesting is that those that get at least the first dose of the vaccine at Ohio will have a chance to win one million dollars, apparently there will five be prizes so a total five million dollars will be given for those that are willing to take the vaccine, and for those that are below the age of 18 there will be full scholarships being offered as well.

to me, this is an interesting trick to get people to be vaccinated against...

In my city the majority of people do not want vaccines for fear of what will happen to the body, maybe tricks like this can imitate the head of my city area.

No, I disagree, if I were in that state I'd be challenging the lottery run by: governor of Ohio, this is ridiculous, If, people take part in competitions, let alone get to drink the vaccine, that's a ridiculous idea for an official I've seen around the world.

Injection of the vaccine with a minimal dose has an effect, what's more by drinking it, maybe $ 1 million is a big bill, but the effect may be greater after the medical costs after taking the vaccine, exceeding $ 1 million, honestly I don't agree if my governor does that kind of lottery, it's the same as killing for the participants of the lottery.
