Hopefully, with that lottery's, people wants to get the vaccine because that is for their health and protecting them from the virus. The prizes are not important, but their health will be the important thing that they need to concern about. If they can be the winner after the vaccine, that will be their bonus because they follow what their government suggested. It should need more attention from people and awareness to get the vaccine. Besides that, the vaccine is free and they do not have to pay anything.

Several months have passed since the vaccination program has started in the United States. And despite widespread concerns initially, adverse effects from the vaccination have been noted from very few recipients. Almost half of the population has so far received both doses of the vaccine. At this point, there is no point in encouraging people who are reluctant to take vaccine to get inoculated. The field data is already available and if someone still don't want the vaccine, then IMO he or she shouldn't be forced.
Although they can not be forced to get the vaccine, that still for their health, especially if they want to get out in the public area. That vaccine can give protection to them, although it is not full protection because that will depend on their health. Yes, the second vaccine is already given to people, including to the elderly. But still, many of them do not want to get the vaccine. They can leave the lottery and do not fills anything, but they should concern about their health and follow their government suggestion, especially for their health. That is the important thing.

Imagine being vaccinated and a chance of winning a Million bucks? this is for your health and also for your future.

but why instead of million bucks make it 100 winners of 10 thousand dollars instead? so the more chance of winning is the more attraction they will get.

That's a good idea but we know people everyone wants to win big and hit the lottery and become a millionaire it's in a lifetime experience, so they prepare instead of 100 winners of 10 thousand dollars, people in Ohio are lucky to have that, in some part of the world people are scrambling to get vaccinated, while here in Ohio their governor is pampering them.

With such strategy, won't be surprise if they will turn out to have high percentage of vaccinated people. Unfortunately, not many countries can afford the same lottery program, let alone, securing covid vaccine. But for those who can afford such strategy, they can imitate it as an encouragement to their citizens. In some areas, they are paying their people or employees just to have the covid shot. Below are some few examples who are doing such strategy -

Really good incentive that is quite cost effective too. Kudos to them for being so creative.

The EV of these lotteries are probably no more than a few cents each given the amount of entrants that are participating. Yet, the sheer amount in the prize pool simply makes this seem like a much better deal than it actually is.

Not to mention the collateral publicity that this event will generate for the lotto. Truly lucrative industry with the edge that they have over the players.

I think the EV is much higher, they are giving away 5 million with a population below 12 million. If we then take out all the old people who already got vaccinated, the young kids who are not yet eligible for the vaccine and the people who don't want to take the vaccine, I would assume that there around 5-6 million people eligible for the lottery. EV of 1 dollar is fine since it is for free, it might even be higher if less people decide to get vaccine. Would be nice if more cities would have such great ideas.

What do you think of this? Do you agree with what the governor of Ohio is doing or are you against it?

Nice and appreciative move on the part of Ohio governor as they are incentivising the people who are vaccinating themselves with first dose and helping to reduce the effect of virus. The prize pool is quite large and which will lure people to take part in vaccination at priority basis in order to win the 1 million prize and students can win scholarship to enjoy their studies well. This is not about money but safety and good move on their side.

It's not just money, but the governor of the Ohio offering lottery's aim and purpose is to increase the number of people willing to get vaccinated.
Ideas like this should be appreciated, apart from being effective in getting a lot of people interested in vaccines, it is also very helpful for lottery winners.
This big lottery prize can change the future of the winner, I really support this idea.

Sure! In addition, I would consider this issue from this point of view - isn't it too immoral to psychologically put pressure on people when making such a responsible decision as vaccination with a poorly studied vaccine? All this looks very, very muddy and wrong.
Kinda immoral yes, but it is an incentive that people need for them to vaccinate themselves. I don't really know much about the effectiveness of the vaccine themselves (haven't gotten one yet), but considering that Ohio has offered vaccine shots, it should have been plenty studied that the shot is effective, or at least creates some form of resistance against the virus. Ofc, vaccinated people themselves shouldn't be stupid thinking that the vaccine would make them immune from the virus, but it does give them some leeway.

I'd suppose the government just wants the transactions to go back to normal, hence why they're pushing for everyone to get a shot, just so that they can increase the accepted capacity of most places. I'd still rather have a system where scans of you getting vaccinated or not be a thing though ngl.

Based on the news that I see, the chances of winning this lottery will be roughly equal (or lower) than the chances of being injured by a vaccine or even dying. I am not a vaccine denier, but in the case of covid-19, the use of hastily invented vaccines, and even on such a huge scale, looks questionable.
Odds arent really that worth right? but people get blinded out with the probabilities for themselves to get rich once they do hit up that million without even thinking the probabilities
of side effects that they could possibly get when they get that vaccination. So its  matter of personal choice or decision if they would push through it or not where they arent
only minding about those lottery tickets but also for their own safety but actually building up your immune system to be stronger is not really much needing those
kind of shots but rather with natural sources that we could possibly get.For now im not ready to get some shots even it would be giving out some chance
on hitting a million. Imaging that you are just handling a $1-5 lottery ticket for the exchange of vaccine shot.  Cheesy

I think for the other people who are struggling with their life, this is nothing but a now or never opportunity. some people even though they won't take any vaccine they will gonna suffer from the harsh reality and until now managed to survive with the little money they have, this is a piece of great news for them because o vaccine or not, they are living in the harsh environment where their life is in danger as well. so why not take the vaccine and have the chance to win the lottery?

I keep reading the news about the possible reward of those people who will get the covid vaccine shot. They're encouraging every citizen of theirs to be vaccinated and I think this lottery prize would be the best at stake.  Tongue
I mean, getting vaccinated is good and all, but of course as far as I am concerned you should not coerce people to forcibly do it, in hopes for a financial reward. There is a reason why vaccines are created and from day one it should be all clear to us already why we need to get vaccinated. If we are going to believe fear mongers to change our minds about that one thing that could change our lives then of course that is already deadly and irresponsible for the part of the person spreading false news. I will get vaccinated without nothing in return but peace of mind.
Though there's no guaranteed financial rewards but in some state, they're giving perks that would really encourage people to be vaccinated.

There are two sides of this strategy to boost vaccination of the residents of Ohio state.First one is that more people will be willing to get vaccinated in hope of getting lottery prize before Wednesday as the draw will be announced on that day for 5 weeks for adults. So the total population of Ohio is roughly 10 million and total prize is of 5 million which seems to be preety huge.So whosoever is able to get vaccine can be participant of this lottery from voter list. The funds could have been lowered as they will be used from federal reserve and can be used for some utility purposes. The people need to realise the importance of vaccine and get first dose by themselves only not on hope of prices. The governor might have made this statement after people being ignorant on getting vaccinated and for them safety is priority not money and they came up with this marketing scheme.

It is indeed a sad fact that is happening now, with the spread of the virus continuing, doesn't make a lot of people aware of the importance of
getting a vaccine. Maybe the government really should be more serious in educating the public about the importance of vaccines, because there is
still a lot of misleading news that continues to spread today regarding the side effects of vaccines. Maybe this is the factor that causes people to
hesitate to get vaccinated. I agree that everyone should be enthusiastic about being vaccinated with the lottery or without the lottery,
if they all understood the importance of vaccines.
People can easily get misleading news from social media and they will spread that news to their environment and say that is what happens to their country. But if they can ask the right person or health institutions, they will get the right answer that the vaccine can help them protect their body from the virus, but they still need to take care of themselves in the public area and other places. Giving a reward may be a solution to attract people to want to get the vaccine and the government must educate people about the side effect of the vaccine.

The government has no other desire but safety, and its superiors will not allow it if it will only bring harm to their people.  But that's it, because of the misunderstanding of others, or the wrong information received about it that they might die from the vaccine than from the virus like my colleagues here at home.  It would be better for them to first conduct a comprehensive campaign about the benefits of the vaccine that it is effective for everyone and will protect against the virus.

What will be the process of drawing lottery tickets?  If in doubt, others may not be enticed.

I won't get myself vaccinated just to have a chance to get millions of money. I have a neighbor who died after she get vaccinated and the family only received 1 sack of rice (50kg) and then forgotten that it happened. Even now in my country, if you get vaccinated you'll get money right after. Each people have different body and the immune system is also different because some are strong and some are weak.

The vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer will not deliver the vaccines unless the governments sign indemnity bonds with them. That means that of something happens during the vaccination phase and the individual who is receiving the vaccine undergoes any serious adverse reaction, then the vaccine manufacturer is not responsible for that. They don't have to pay any sort of compensation, or even acknowledge those deaths. As per the indemnity bond, it is the responsibility of the government to provide compensation.
