The final medal standings for the Olympics 2020. As expected, united states managed to get most medals.
~snip~

I don't think US  will be able to catch up with China. In the end, US was strong, being able to catch up to a difference of 5 gold medals from China on August 6th. Congratulations to US you are the overall champion, and it's happening again. China seems to be shifting the dominance of the US unable to do much at the end of the game. I saw yesterday that US did have more games left than China.
It's sad that my country is in 55th position.

The final medal standings for the Olympics 2020. As expected, united states managed to get most medals.

But they only managed to have one more gold medal than China.
I think it was the Olympic Games, where the US performed well below what was expected.

Although the total number of medals was similar to Rio2016, there were 7 fewer gold medals. While China another 12 gold medals.
I think the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be super interesting and competitive.

Neeraj Chopra wins gold medal in javelin, first athletics gold for India in Olympics

The funny thing is, he started his sports career with the help of YouTube!  Cheesy I read about it on Twitter yesterday and it says a lot about both his willpower and the general state of the sports industry in India. Therefore, one should not be surprised how, with such a huge population, India is always an outsider in various sports.

Naturally, modern sport is a battle of pharmacology, but if you get caught then please follow the rules and do your best next time. But Russia, even being caught, denied everything and behaved inappropriately, therefore, was punished even more harshly.

Anyone watching the rhythmic gymnastics matches? The Russian domination in this sport seems to be a thing of the past (they won every gold medal since 2000 to 2016). Yesterday, Linoy Ashram won the gold, defeating the Averina twins of Russia in individual all-around competition. And today, Russia is trailing in the team all-round competition (with Bulgaria in the lead). Artistic swimming continues to be dominated by Russia, but it was sad to see their dominance in rhythmic gymnastics crumble.

I have already said that Ashram's victory was very controversial because she made a mistake in her performance, while the Russian athlete performed perfectly! I think there might be political implications here! Everyone knows that Russia performed without national anthem and flag because of the doping scandal... It is a pity that athletes suffer because of idiots in politics!

Because in Russia the state system of doping and deception of the regulatory authorities was revealed, in addition, Russia refused to admit this fact. This scandal has been going on for many years, haven't you heard about it?

It happened after all! The USA confidently took the first place in gold medals on the last day of the Olympiad. Given the huge advantage in silver and bronze medals, this can be called total domination.

It is true that doping was practised on a large scale in Russia and that it was probably even organised and supported by official bodies. So i guess the ban of the russian flag and the russian anthem was a understandable move and it was also correct, that russian athletes that were not involved in that doping system were given the chance to start at the olympics because in the end they trained their whole life for that.
That being said i am pretty sure, doping is going on in every country, (of course also in the US and the UK and so on that are always blaming russia and china) and if i would have to guess i would say that at least a third of all athletes in the track & field and swimming disciplines was doped. The big problem is that most of the stuff that is used for doping today can't even be detected yet, that's why the samples are collected and stored longterm so they can be tested again in a few years when new detection methods are available.
It is a fact, that we will never have 100% doping free sports.

I still confusing why Rusia is different from other countries, why they use ROC (Rusian Olympic Committee) why not only Rusia?.

I don't know if this is possible or not, but it will be very funny if the US team overtakes the Chinese team in gold medals on the last day of the Olympics  Cheesy It would be an epic result of this race. In one day, the difference decreased by 3 times and now amounts to only two medals.
I am surprised that the Germans were not able to collect the normal number of gold medals - at the last Olympiad in Rio they had 17, and now they are almost two times less. It seems that those teams that performed above average (especially Japan) did it at the expense of Germany.
China and the USA still have the opportunity to get Gold medals until the closed ceremony.

Game today:

USA; Women Basketball, boxing, volleyball
China; boxing

If I can see, Possible USA will defeat china position. hopefully, they don't add silver medals in the last minute because there are too many.

Was an amazing basketball game last night between the Untied States and France.  I was so glad to actually be able to watch the game this time too. The last games was so late and having work the next day I was just not able to stay up for it.  This game was exiting though.  Every time you thought the United States was going to pull away France would come right back. Even though he only scored 16pts, Gobert was an absolute beast all night.  France had a lot of great players, but obviously couldn't quite pull it off.  They wanted it bad too.  Was a great final game nonetheless.

On the medal front, China still has the most gold, while the USA has a clear advantage in the total number of medals at Tokyo 2020.

Just two more gold and they're going to be at the top. Last day is approaching and I think with those remaining games, it's what everyone is waiting for.
Those who are concerned watching out who's going to be the top 1 on this year's Olympics.

Looks like they will have a hard time getting those two more gold medals and we still don't know if there are some Chinese are competing for a gold medal too. We are about to come closer to its closing ceremony and looks like the Tokyo Olympics 2020 is successful and there was no problem at all. everything was done well and looks like every athlete has nothing to complain about it. This is Japan for you hope that I will visit it someday.

They've got that in the women's Final marathon as, M. Seidel came up 3rd place for USA behind Kenyan P. Jepchirchir and B. Kosgel who finished in both first and 2nd positions haven't won the gold and silver medals for there country. It seems the marathon race is a sole birth right for the Kenyans. I'm still looking forward to a day that some other nation's athlete would just step up and win this off them.
It was a thing of joy really, a sensational moment for the athletes to have ran to the finish line even though they all never got a medal. The singular fact of beating the challenge was very satisfying with the joys on there faces. Congrats to them all.

I like the efficiency the Bermuda team have, send 2 athletes and from the two, one delivers a gold medal 🏅.  Other countries should emulate this to avoid investing so much resources without returning  home without medals.
Personally I do not really have a problem with the number of athletes been sent by a country even if they do not win a lot of medals as long as the athletes are professional and are paying their own way, for example in the case of soccer it is obvious that most players that participated in the Olympic Games are professional and they are part of leagues around the world so no one is investing a single dollar of public money to develop those athletes.

However when those athletes are being trained and sponsored by public money then results are a must, I will be really mad if I lived in one of those countries that sends hundreds of athletes and then you just have a few medals to show for it.

Brazil won football gold medal after beating Spain 2:1 in extra time. I think it's deserved win because Brazil were slightly better today.
Amazing volleyball final. France were leading 2:0, but ROC made incredible comeback 2:2 and sent game to decisive 5th set, were BaziFrancel finally won.
Handball finall was great to, where France beat Denmark 25:23. Denmark fighted until last seconds, but France goalkeeper was like a wall. Also, on last minutes, reserve France goalkeeper saved important 7 meter free throw.
Very interesting women high jump final. ROC athlete Mariya Lasitskene won gold with 2.04 m jump. It's very high result.

There is some events remaining on last day - women basketball, handball and volleyball finals, men and women water polo finals, boxing and rhytmic gymanstics. And as always, last medals will be given on men marathon.

For the first time in 25 years since 1996, Russia has failed to win gold at the Olympic Games in artistic gymnastics! The Russian athlete performed the programme perfectly! And the winner, an Israeli athlete who won gold, dropped an object... All this happened because of unfair judging!

Do you have any news that you can indicate about this situation? I would like to understand better what happened.

The Russian Olympic Committee team took the gold medal. Are you talking at the individual level?

https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/gymnastics-russia-survive-asian-fight-back-take-team-gold-2021-07-26/

I was talking about the women's rhythmic gymnastics competitions... Russia's Dina Averina was in first place throughout the competition, but she was beaten in the final by Israel's Lina Ashram... In Russia there is a lot of talk about this controversial incident, as Ashram made a mistake in the performance and Averina performed perfectly!

Just read on espn Bruce Springsteen daughter won silver in horse riding, or whatever the proper name is.  I don't know anything about that sport but does anyone know if she was expected to medal this Olympics.  Pretty successful family I'd say lol.
Congratulations to her.

Talking of horses did you guys catch up with the story making headlines of the sumo statue that spooked their horses...

Riders say a life-size sumo wrestler positioned next to an obstacle on the Olympic equestrian course may have distracted several horses in qualifying for the individual jumping final

Equestrian jumpers aren't keen on surprises. Neither are the horses, and it takes years of training to keep them from getting spooked.

Of course, no horse in Tuesday night's Olympic jumping qualifier had ever seen anything like obstacle No. 10.

“As you come around, you see a big guy’s (butt),” British rider Harry Charles said.

There's a lot to look at,” Ireland's Cian O'Connor added.

“It is very realistic,” echoed Israel's Teddy Vlock.

Riders say a life-size sumo wrestler positioned next to the 10th obstacle on the 14-jump Olympic course may have distracted several horses in qualifying for the individual jumping final Tuesday night. A few pairings pulled up short of the barrier, accumulating enough penalty points to prevent entry into Wednesday's finals.
