I would argue that it's better to contain QS in these threads while ridiculing him and hopefully take some of his time away from concocting new conspiracies. He's been at it for years, he won't get bored.
I had the same thought, but it’s a fallacy. Reductio ad absurdum, it would mean that we should petition to allow Alia back. Did you notice how these threads (and much else) dropped off after the Alia scandal broke?

Agreed. Indeed, it was partly for that purpose (partly to seek information) that I wasted obscene amounts of my own time making around 200 posts sniping back and forth with her. At one point, I made a new thread for the immediate purpose of distracting and re-containing her right before the hammer came down. Ugh.
Quicksy is unlikely to get banned, he knows how to slide just under the mods' interpretation of the rules. And he's unlikely to give up. Whenever I'm bored or I feel that life has lost it's charm and excitement. I try to find the lasts posts of QS and voila it is on Lauda I grab some popcorn and sit back and read. It's hilarious, also while reading through we get to know a lot of useful things, like the tax structure in various countries which otherwise we would have to learn by spending our money on.
Do I care? At times YES, but then I realise that most people over here know it's useless, so I keep reading.

Logically, knowing a language does not mean that you live in the country of which it originates.
True: Quickseller confuses language not only with geography, but also here specifically with legal jurisdiction for tax purposes (!).
For example, if I learn French, I am not forced to be in France.
Though I observe, “school French” would not qualify you for editorial responsibilities in a French publication. (Whether forum moderation requires such a level of mastery is another question.)
Besides learning, there is also a possibility of moving—maybe ancestrally. Croatia has suffered major strife and dislocations in the past century. Not all people who have grown up with Croatian language as a familial “mother tongue” have ever even set foot on Croatian soil; and of course, even today, Croats born in Croatia may move elsewhere as adults (just as is true as for most any other country).
I have no doubts that some moderators do live in the country that the language hails from but it is wrong to assume that all moderators, past and present, live in the native country.

This thread generated 15 pages of heated discussion within its first 24 hours, a few more pages the next day—whereas now, for weeks, the thread has repeatedly died and been resurrected. The past dozen pages or so mostly consist people laughing at Quickseller, interspersed with Quickseller futilely trying to reignite controversy.

I've read the last few posts in this thread by endlasuresh (and a few others) and I can't really make up my mind, replying to his (their) ridiculous claims is clearly either a futile attempt to explain totally obvious stuff to someone with a serious brain cell deficit or feeding a troll. Am I the only one who thinks it is ironic that lauda was extorting someone over claimed “tax fraud”, while lauda was claiming to do this in the name of a sting operation, when lauda refused to give theymos sufficient information to generate a 1099 for his moderator income and was going around bragging about not paying taxes on this income (aka committing tax fraud himself)?
Where did you get this info from or are you just making stuff up? And where is your evidence that he refused to give anything? Besides, if you don't give theymos those details he pay the US taxes on your behalf so the only way he'd be able to commit tax fraud 100% would be to give theymos the details and then not pay the appropriate taxes to his own IRS. The whole point of filling in those forms is to show you're not earning US-based income.
