Thank you as well for soliciting for the well being of our local board, caliber of people like you shouldn't be scarce in our local board as your concern and efforts would not devoid. So to you and some other senior men who has taken this bold step and responsibility to make our local board convenient for all I applaud all of you and I hope to work with you someday as am still at the verge of growth in this forum.

Base on the number of people that interested and supporting the OFF TOPIC we are to add the off topic board in the Request Thread so that when the admin read the thread he will see everything and create the three Sub-boards mentioned above for us. I appreciate all the suggestions and comments. This shows we are one and moving forward to achieve our aims and goals. Though in a family there most be misunderstanding and that is part of any family. I will update the request thread with off topic later. Thanks

I've casted my vote on the polls, and I went for the off-topic sub-board because it sounds cooler, but whatever the local members decide is okay, as long as it will help to organize things on the LB. But I really hope many people can vote for the off-topic s/board. There are some topics on our LB that do not fit into Bitcoin discussion, politics and society and I wouldn't want to call them other discussion because they are completely off-topic. So there's really need for an off-topic s/board.

That is where majority will leads since it's a combination of multiple hands to talks and express our hearts towards this concern in meta board it would give more audience since the topic will be regularly bump by poster so it will always appears first in that section.

Yes what you have just emphasis is just what we all are looking up to. There is a need for us to have other board in our Nigeria local board. In recent time there has been different thread created which are likely not worthy enough to be found in bitcoin discussion. but due to lack of other sub-boards like politics, off topic and others, people have been creating alot of thread that is not Crypto related and this has led many not to participate in our local board activities so we are pleading that our quest should be granted 🙏🙏 thanks

I think I concur to your opinion about the off-topic board, normally this forum was created for bitcoin discussion and bitcoin related activities so the main local board should serve for discussion about bitcoin while every other discussion should stand as an off-topic discussion. Navigating through the local board we can see that most of our discussion in the board are centered on politics, society, and the economy, so all of these can serve as off-topics therefore creating a sub board that will stand as a medium to interact and discuss threads that ain't bitcoin related should all be classified as off-topics.

Off-topic was voted in by you and me because I knew Newbies and other old members who frequently use low quality posts on the board to spam signature posts count would not want us to have an off-topic sub-board so they could continue to spam.

We're a local board with over 100 active monthly posters, so anything less than 70-80 votes would be disregarded. There is nothing like "other discussion" anyplace on the forum, so we are looking unserious at this moment.

I will not say a poll is good in this regard if everyone would be included. I said this because I believe no newbies will choose off-topic. Or if something like this should be done, the vote should be manually done in a way people will post and choose what he wants in his post and not a poll like this which is available to anybody. Also this will help us against people not to vote with two or more accounts. But like your commented already, that may not be necessary again if we go for the three boards. We need off-topic because if we do not have it now, we will need it later after many people will say the other discussion board has turned to something else when it is full of off-topic discussions.

Then let go with the three because all the three Sub-boards mentioned are needed in the local board because those are the areas we are engaging in the board while discussing. And as other has said, it is good for us to ask everyone we needed in the board now so that we will not disturb the admin in the future to create more Sub-boards again so let us ask all now and also ask him to give moderator tat once since the board is growing rapidly let ask all we need now.

Those 3 Sub-boards that have been mentioned should be added in the thread at Meta so that when the admin check the thread to see the request they will see the 3 Sub-boards.

For me the Naija politics & Society and other discussion is okay. Other discussions. Other discussion doesn’t specify any particular topic so for me the two is enough.

Because as it is people like the Other Discussions and from what you have explained that means the two boards in poll are needed and all are important to be created. And that means Naija Politics & Society, Other Discussions and Off Topics are main Sub-boards that needed so how do we do now? Should I add them to the request thread or leave it like that and change to Off Topics? Because the way I am seeing Other Discussions will definitely take over and Off Topics will be thrown out and that will not look good because we need am.

Well understood, but it's seem the poll so far is showing that the naija politics and other discussion is actually leading, but it's just the beginning and I believe everyone is well aware or maybe agbe should just make this part very noticeable when creating the other topics for the choice of these option of board here in the local board. Many users like the newcomer won't actually get the idea of the actual meaning of the off topic especially when it seem the original off topic board here in the board is a dumb yard for abstract discussions.

Other discussion will make the main local board to very less active, because all non bitcoin related threads are going to be reported and moved to other discussion. Later it will only result to people want off-topic board again. Off-topic board is not insulting but should be for what it should be for.

If other discussion should be created, we still need off-topic board, which would be what will later happen.

A new topic all together isn't a bad idea since people here in the LB seem to answer or discuss in threads that are new here and more over the awareness will be faster as you have already stipulated. Well for me , I have already selected an option in the pool which is the naija politics and other discussion because I believe this makes it a little less insulting as having one of your discussion moved to off-topic even if it's in the local board.

The best is to create a new topic about this for more people to see it. We have known that we need two threads already which is either naija politics & society and off-topic or naija politics & society and other discussion. So the best you can do now is to create a new topic about it and let us vote. Some people may not notice this thread again.

In the Naija Politics & Society and Off Topics, all the irrelevant topics in the board will be dump there and any other topics that are not related to bitcoin will be found in that Sub-board and that might look like your topic is substandard and that is what is means in the general board so if we are bringing it to our board then we have to know the meaning first but the Naija Politics & Society and Other Discussions means, any topic that is not related to bitcoin can be found there and there is negative connotation in it. Therefore anyone we choose here will be the final decision in the board members. Go to the poll and make your vote count. Lolz!! If you don't like the result go to court. love you all.

Like on the English board, no members who want to advance in rank post on the off-topic board because it is constantly full of junk, and it saves moderators a lot of time because low garbage topics are thrown there instead of having to delete each post on the thread. Another group of people that occasionally visit the off-topic board are those with high rank who wish to talk or simply have fun on some amusing discussions.

Since we do not have a moderator, the off-topic board is essential for keeping the main and other sub-boards spam-free.

Am also in support of this, but we have to look more into this off topic we board we are going for, wouldn't this allow members to be posting anyhow or spamming with unsolicited discussions since they know it's not going to be fit in any where else, also if we should say that we are not going to include off topic there, people will still be abusing the other boards and there will be many unrelated threads that will be frequently reported to the moderators for off topic, so i like the way we are making tidy of the house before anything else could show up, nice works all the way.

Our discussion on mining is very low, the few we are discussing can still fit into the main Naija board. Also BTC/NGN board may not be necessary for now to avoid repetition. But if we are making more valuable topics that are related to BTC/NGN speculation, then we can have such a board, but not many of such topics on local board as of now.

Hope you are following this discussion. I think other discussion is worth reconsidering. People wants off-topic board. Let us not do something that we will later be looking for ways to still have off-topic board. I can remember you and some people posted that there were many spam topics on naija board, this is the time to let us make it work the right way. Do you think the spam or the spam-like threads are worth to be named 'other discussion'? Let us give it the name it supposed to be which is off-topic, irrespective of considering if people's posts counting or not counting for signature payment.

The only two board I could think of now which might be effective later on is the mining board but the issue is that there have not been any miner on our local board at the moment and the other is the price speculation board for bitcoin and naira.

There are absolutely zero posts on this board on altcoins, so I don't see the need for it unless the demand develops. As I previously stated, I'd want to see Politics and Society and Off-topic added to the main board. Nigeria is an English-speaking country, consequently we still benefit greatly from the English board, as in contrast to non-English-speaking countries, which conduct all of their business on a local board. Imo

Mention other boards that you think that we need. But as for bitcoin discussion, this is one of the main purpose of the local board main board, it is about bitcoin discussion. Another one which can be altcoins discussion, I noticed we Nigerians are not discussing about altcoins. Other ones  which I can suggest, I noticed that we are not discussing about them. But you can come up with some ones you noticed that we are discussing more about.

If you check the link we referred to, they are completely off-topics, aside the other ones which should belong to Naija politics and society. On English board, our posts can be moved to a board that signature campaign does not count, that should not be an excuse. Do not forget that we post to learn from each and everyone, although being paid is encouraging.

What would a decent poster be doing on an off-topic sub-board? If there is an off-topic sub-board, the spam on the main board will be reduced since all spam and low-value postings will be moved to the off-topic dump.

The suggestions here and the requested boards in Meta e dey okay. Because one thing wey I also noticed be say the Other Discussions Board speak well for the local board than the Off Topics because people wey dey campaign come drop topic and di topic na off topic e go affect di pesen but is na Other Discussions Board then nothing spoil na to filter di shit post and spam posts there.

And I also want to say since we are asking for creation of Sub-boards, we can also use this medium to request for the local moderator.

I don't like the idea of requesting the same thing over and over again; we're not the only LB on the forum, so when we want something, we do it completely before moving on to the next request. The concept of asking only a few subboards and then requesting others again later is wrong. theymos is someone who takes their time in approving a request. Not to mention the two merits source applications that are currently waiting.

We still need C. Brainboss to quote the last PM thyemos sent to him before creating the local board and send him the application link to get his attention. I've already sent him a PM, others can follow suit.

I will suggest the other discussion board to be edited to off-topic as it should be. Although, Agbe contacted me and we discussed about it which I said anything they call it. But if we think about it very well, the Nigerian local board on its own consists of bitcoin topics and other discussions. But if the discussion on the main (Nigeria local) board are more related to certain boards, like off-topic and naija politics and society, such boards can be requested for, which we did. We should not have the main local board and still have other discussion that supposed to be off-topic. With proves, we know that we need a board called off-topic. If the boards that we requested for are given, other threads not related to it can still be under that main local board. And if need be, we can later request for other boards if necessary. It would be good to edit it to off-topic before it is too late.

You can't move pidgin English off-topic discussions to the main board, which is why we need one as a local board. "Mohbad death, penis enlargement shit" are all off-topic discussions. When Agbe brought the report for review, I remember asking him about the off-topic sub-board, but I didn't want to push it because others were fine with the ones requested for. But the truth is that off-topic sub-boad is needed as well.

Since it is said that we don't have to request for much the suggested three boards are absolutely good to go as it holds a summary of our necessary aspects to discuss about here in the platform but let's also consider the essence of the above boards so it can also attract our local experts and the experienced members to be enticed in contributing to the entire boards because most acknowledged members may obviously abstain from involving where they feels it would be dominated with newbies threads definitely due to the low knowledges of the newbies.

You should have read before commenting as it was stated in the OP that newbies and members shouldn't comment on this thread because they are new here and wouldn't understand much on what to say. Off topic is needed because so many newbies will want us to identify themselves by their post, and most times, their posts are always off topic. Go through the first page and you will understand why off topic sub board is needful.

You sure say you understand weting you they talk before you start to write am here. Post in off topics are post that were moved there because they were irrelevant to the discussion and so concluded to be off topic. You don't go the off topic board and make a thread. Who does that?

My brother you are correct and I have also visited the main  thread link posted by the OP and I think the suggestions there is not far fetched from what we are actually discussing here although many other people seems to think we should first ask for implementation of local board moderators but I have cleared most person's that its also included on the list of things our local board needs to flourish. Weda them like or not our local board has come to stay and we working on it for our betterment is the only option we have and good members like agbe, Charles-Tim, brainboss, igebots and many more have done to tackle these issues or recent post spam that is flooding the local board.

The off-topic board you’re referring to belongs to global board… you won’t expect one of our local to go there and create a thread in pidgin language, it’s not accepted and it will be trashed the moment it’s discovered.

And by mere scrolling through this board you’ll see several thread that you’re 100% sure should be moved to an off-topic section because of the subject matter that’s being discussed there.

However, I see no reason why there will be an off-topic board in our local board because I have seen an off-topic board already so there will be no need for us to have another off-topic section in our local board.
Anyone who wants to post an off-topic there out comment should just go to the off-topic board and do what he or she want to do, besides there is no moderator at the off-topic board and that means anyone can post any kind of trash things he or she like (that's why it is called an off topic board).
So I am trying to conclude that there is no need for us to have an off-topic  section on our local board, if we do have such a board (off topic) it will be like we are not serious at all.
I am not too regular on this forum but with my little time here, this is what I can conclude out of my own instincts.

Someone made mention of pining a long thread that addresses beginners and help related matters for our local board. So that whenever we get newbies wey join the forum wey wan ask questions, dem fit ask for the pinned thread otherwise, I would have suggested say make the Beginners and Help child board dey him dey on its own but since again, the advice be say make e no plenty, den make we just pin one good thread for newbies and members.

Gambling Discussion too nko? That one go make sense, make we get one board where we go dey discuss our local Naija leagues and men (Super Eagles) and women's (Super Falcons) national team.

For instance now, na Enugu Rangers, Shooting Stars and Lobi Stars dem dey lead the league table standing now but since for the general gambling board, dem get other plenty leagues wey dey ahead of our own, e no go be bad idea.

Your suggestions OP are great once and we can go with them, but @Charles-Tim added some suggestions that politics should get something like society attached to it because that is what our newbies are mostly centered on; they like engaging in political discussions and off-topic discussions, leaving Bitcoin and cryptocurrency discussions for other members. If we get these child boards, it will actually limit all these off topic threads.

This board wey you list just dey okay because most of our discussion doesn't go above these board except for USDT/NGN price speculation, so for me the ones you just listed is okay. But one thing wey I dey also consider be say if this subforum or child board are being created how do we still managed them? This shows we are indirectly requesting for local moderator because this our 9ja section need them. Na we go only analysis any post wey no good except we go report those posts but if we get mod e go dey easy us to handle than anyone else even though the mods are active there to do their task but we needs ours while requesting for childboard.

The suggestions of the board mentioned in the OP’s post is very welcome and a commendable one to be implemented soon to keep the board clean. While looking at the positive part of creating these boards, we shouldn’t forget the main part why the forum exist, which is solely about Bitcoin Discussion in general. If we make the general board we have now to be for posts relating to bitcoin discussion; what about the Beginners & Help board that we have in the general forum? It is a very resourceful place for newbies to ask their questions on also. Since we are advised not to request for too many child boards, why don’t we have a topic pinned on the board, that will only be for beginners to ask questions, they can easily locate it at the top of the board without navigating throughout the local board. My humble suggestion.

The child board wey we need pass na off-topic child board, too many topics wey dey our local board na off-topic and e dey make the board look somewhat "bad" for eye. Normally Nigerians like to dey discuss about politics and we can see that fact for our local board, because politics matter choke, so if we go fit get another child board, e suppose be for politics, we fit call am "politics and naija matter". If we fit get these child boards e go make sense, our main board go come be for discussions about Bitcoin and crypto matter.

I support the motion with @Charles-tim. If we create board wey we no actually need, it go turn out to be a ghost town because such sub-board is not actually needed for now. Make we just stick to boards wey our current discussions span across. If we ever need more sub-boards in the future as our community continues to grow, we fit request for more.

uchegod-21 suggested for off-topic child board in the past, Off Topic child board.. At the time, I also wished theymos can give use a child board like that because there were many posts that were off-topic, but we did not requested for it at the time.

From my findings, I noticed that we have many new topics about discussion related to politics and society on our local board.

Normally, what moderator like mprep has said in the past is that, if most of what is discussed on the first page of a board is more related to a particular discussion, that such discussion is worth to be given a board. When uchegod-21 suggested we should request for off-topic board, I went through the first page of this local board and this was what I found out:



Out of 40 topics on the frist page, we discussed mostly about something related to politics and society, also there were many off-topics. There has always been many posts that we supposed to be reported and be moved to off-topic and political and societal boards.

Because of this, I will like if we request from theymos to create two boards for us, the first should be about something related to politics and society and the second should be nothing but off-topic board.

I like your suggestion, but I will prefer if we include something like society to the politics. Do not get me wrong, we can call it another name but in a way people will know that what is discussed there is about politics and society which is what many people are discussing on the local board.

For the economics board, I do not think there is a need for it for now because topics related to it are not many. The reason I also said that is because we should not request for too many boards, in a way the main board will not be that active again. And we can still later request for other boards if there is any need.

Let us see what other people will suggest.

I think is a welcome Idea, because I've seen most post recently that have low quality always resurfacing on the board, so if there are segmentations where members can easily post the topics they want, if it is off topic, if it is economics if it is politics, it will help in the overall engagement of the local board, because it will reduce spamming and also help members to know the best segment to post whatever topic they intend.

Base on the rising spamming, shitposts and off topics in the local board, there were murmuring and reporting threads against that. So we decided to make things easy for everyone in the local board by requesting to create some Sub-boards and we pm a reputable and prestige personnel of local boards analyst in the forum and he suggested that we should first create a thread here to know the public opinion and take note on the most important ones before creating the mega thread in META and he also said we should not request many child boards but just few and wait for a while for the administration to take action (grand our request). Therefore, I am suggesting 3 sub local boards which are:

• Naija Politics: Where all the political gbengbotigbo (Matters) Should be discussed
• Economics: Any Economic related matters should be discussed here. Bitcoin, Politics, and Economics are working in Pari-Passu therefore if it is to create child boards these above mentioned two must follow then
• Off Topic: This is where any post or topic that is not related to bitcoin, politics and economics will be posted in to make the other boards clean.

Remember, he advised us not to ask many but few and I suggested the 3 above. So you can also suggest your own and give reasons why your is good to be created. The floor is open for everyone except newbies and members because they have not gotten enough knowledge to discuss such a sensitive matter in the local board.
