I am sure some players with poor money management will run bankrupt soon due to the salary cuts  Cheesy
It is their personal decision to take a pay cut (for those players who have agreed to it), it cannot be forced in then by the club as they are on contracts that span a specific duration of time, and I don't think incidences like a pandemic would be included in the fine print.

So if they personally agree to a pay cut, then they should be certain that their finances would not be hit too hard. While they may be extravagant, they would have investments. In actual fact most of what they lavish money on are investments; the houses and jewelries etc. So I think they will come out just fine.

You know what, I can respect all the players who've agreed to a pay cut, like those at Barca (that's why I love you guys a lot!) but you know what? I can also respect players who don't want to take a pay cut. Everyone has a right to a salary and their clubs should understand that. Freedom of personal choice.

This is really sad, which at first we spent every weekend watching football and finally now can't find it anymore.

For football lovers it is indeed very sad, even we can not expect to see the game in the near future, can only wait for a change in the direction of the better, hopefully the vaccine can be obtained soon and all returned to normal as usual.

The news say that the vaccine has been found already.
Chinese scientists claim that the vaccine is under extensive testing and they are trying to release it as soon as possible to the market. This might be a positive news for the restart of the Premier League.

50% of their salaries is a dream for majority of people out there and this majority at this time are not earning anything. Footballers have nothing to worry about, a pay cut for a few months judging from the situation in the world and how much they earn every week shouldn't get them too unhappy or worried, not earning anything at all for now should be no big deal for them.
The problem is with bigger salary comes bigger responsibilities. Most of those players are a lot more money than an average person but their expenditure is also always enormous... like buying ridiculous cars, staying in house or apartments that cost ridiculous amounts of money etc. I am sure some players with poor money management will run bankrupt soon due to the salary cuts  Cheesy

Corona virus outbreaks are still a global problem faced by almost every country in the world, including Europe, this certainly affects several aspects, including football.

A number of competitions were also forced to stop, including the English Premier League.  Initially the FA as the English Football Federation and competition organizers agreed to postpone all matches for 30 April, but based on the results of the meeting on Friday (3/4), it was decided that the competition was postponed until an undetermined deadline.

This is really sad news as now most chances we are going to have this all in May or June because still uncertainity around here and deaths toll is also rising in many countries today France touch more then 1000 persons so look like we will stay in locked down for some long time.

Because this outbreak is getting worse in several countries such as the US, Italy, Germany. Therefore the delay will continue until this problem may slightly decrease. We can only hope for the best for all countries and all competitions including EPL.

This is really sad, which at first we spent every weekend watching football and finally now can't find it anymore.

Lots of people are getting made redundant & self employed people aren’t earning money right now. It’s unprecedented in modern history for anything like this to disrupt the world. Footballers earn a hell of a lot of money, they will be fine to earn 70% of their usual salary for a month or two. I do not feel sorry for them!

Key points

- League will resume when it is safe to do so (not early May as originally stated)
- A proposal of 30 per cent wage cuts for players has been made.
- Support for the lower leagues has been determined, and a £20 million donation to the NHS as well.
It seems our players are not in that bad position comparing to other EU league players. Some of them are thinking to cut 70% which is not something very fair I think. Anyway, this is very hard time we are going through and seeing all these community work proposal are some good steps by the league committee.
70% is really big amount I am feeling its not fair and 30% is really OK as this will help both parties for this effected season but right now most chances we will have complete season in coming weeks in few European countries as they are sure about this all.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
We should hear more this afternoon, I saw that the PL are meeting officials from every club via video call. Hopefully we get clarification that the season WILL be completed.
If all have taken the agreement in the video call of course this season's league will be finished, EPL officials certainly this season want to finish and there will be champions but there is still a polemic going on about the decision so that it is more fortunate the first compared to its lower club and how is it nasih 5th place clubs who want to keep chasing UCL in the next season while the EPL match is still left.

Whatever the decision, I really appreciate it because I think it's the best solution to find answers for other leagues.

In my opinion, both the premier league and all other leagues can be delayed completely this year. Next year, all leagues can be played together earlier or together with a compressed fixture. In this process, league cups can be canceled for 1 year in order to make the fixture more comfortable.

Again, in my opinion, UEFA competitions can be played compressed one after the other at the beginning of next season. To speed up the process, all matches can be played in a city. Of course, all these assumptions are possible if there is a solution for Corona virus until this summer.

Restarting the league albeit behind closed doors still exposes a lot of individuals to potential infection. So this action can only be implemented when the virus spread has been efficiently managed and contained within the entire country as football requires travel and lots of contacts. All deliberations is dependent on how the nation handles the pandemic in the coming weeks.

Also class act frow Howe, I hope other higher earning staffs can take similar steps so that the not playing staff can remain on the payroll.

Yup. We think it is a safe bet,,, but these guys would all have to be totally screened and maybe even quarantined under proper monitoring first to ensure not one of them is going to spread it to the 500 or so people who will be there. I wonder though if they could even do like, set up all the cameras, and stuff first. and just have remote control camera and linesmen, just 22 players plus main referee could they do it?

The best case for them right now is to give a break and squeeze in the leagues together. It is really not all that impossible. They could simply just wait until there is no more corona, when people are allowed to go outside and when there is a cure for it etc etc. When all of this is over, it could be as further as next season, but they can resume the league from when it stopped by october-november, or even in 2021. Instead of teams playing 1 game each, they could just play 2 games each and that would cut the league time in half. So what they can do is start the games back up, play games 2-3 times a week, end the current league, than start the other one probably like 2 weeks later, and than do the 2-3 games a week thing again and finish that on time as well, or maybe finish it a bit later, during summer.

This allows teams to both go out during safe time, plus allows them to finish without really killing themselves neither, these are professional young athletes who make millions of dollars, they should be fine playing 2-3 games a week.

Eddie Howe is a top manager, he probably deserves a job at a bigger club. He tries to make his team play the right way, there’s no parking the bus.

I don't know much about Eddie Howe as a manager. But if this manager is really good for a higher club, then I think there will be clubs interested in recruiting him as a manager. Let's wait, is there a club that is interested or is he still in the club right now.

He might be good but he is not a popular name..
Howe is not the manager who would savor the fans when the board of a team announces his signing. Usually, boards try to sign a big name in order to take the fans on their behalf.

I think the premier league board should perhaps stop accepting suggestions at this point, the league is suspended already and it should remain as that. Focus should be diverted on how to help people recover from their illness.

Manchester united have decided to help fight the virus by donating 30% of their wages to NHS, a big move to support the cause, hopefully other premier league top 6 does something similar.
