With so close to the fulfillment of the season, playing in a closed stadium would have been a better option than stopping it all. But things are looking to come in under control and that can still be done in closed stadium. I don't see the league game with fans as people can't gather freely until a vaccine for the virus is made as the virus is going to circulate over and over again.

This season supposed to be greatest liverpool season despite they failed to get an invincible season ... your lovely club could ended the season with several record breaking.

And of course with only 6 points to go to seal the EPL title we all knew that feeling when there's an update about how the premier league could be held behind closed doors.

At least there's some light although it's still uncertain.

That's a good news and the best / fairest option, although the actual season may end in October...which is a little bit underestimated imo. The actual spread of the virus in UK did not reach the peak even until now..
Yeah for me this is good news too even though it was planned to start in June for me this is full of hope because English league lovers are certainly very later on, even though the match will be very tight and also not filled by the audience for me as long as it is broadcast on tv is also enough and its all can make me happy again.
The infected in the UK are not too large unlike Italy and Spain which continues to increase which is infected every day.
Hopefully this is the best way for EPL football,

Hopefully we can get back to normal in a month or so, I’m getting football withdrawal symptoms already.

There is no way that it will be for 1 month.
Every league for the season 2019-2020 is already over. They can maybe play in the summer with a closed door.

Look at China where everyone was in quarantine after 3 months is still closed.

For football lovers it is indeed very sad, even we can not expect to see the game in the near future, can only wait for a change in the direction of the better, hopefully the vaccine can be obtained soon and all returned to normal as usual.
It's indeed a very sad time... But we must make sure our loved ones and favorite players are safe and sound. Football will always come back.
By the way i am wondering how football was played back then during World War. Imagine players and spectators going to the stadiums having it at the back of their minds that any time they could be attacks
I heard the news that China will re-open their city on April. Has China found a vaccine so that the city is reopened? even though this virus clearly came from China.

Everyone feels the same as football lovers. We want to see the match again in the near future. Is it possible that large countries will find a vaccine to kill this corona virus?

Because in my country even more vigilant even their zone of the same league was postponed until the time has not been determined.

Football was cancelled for a few years during the world war, as in, totally cancelled, for both world wars. No one played as everyone was busy fighting or surviving.

I understand that but there’s a bit of a difference in severity between a world war & what is essentially a bad strain of flu that only seems to mostly affect older people.

Here’s a stat detailing the ages of those who have died in the UK -

I had a daydream that there was suddenly an vaccine, how quickly could things get spun back up then?

I think a few weeks. So a long wait it out or sudden unjam seems like 2 possibilities. Unjam would be cool.

Bro I know you'd like to be standing on the terrace today rather than stuck home *fingers crossed*.

Sad but let us not make this a time to mourn and to feel sorry,,, also please not a time to start blaming people or clubs or players.

The news say that the vaccine has been found already.
Chinese scientists claim that the vaccine is under extensive testing and they are trying to release it as soon as possible to the market. This might be a positive news for the restart of the Premier League.
Its not an easy task to bring the proper vaccine for any disease without seeing the optimum results and its side effects. Worldwide medicine experts and scientists are trying their best to invent instant cure for "Covid-19" but if we think that it is "vaccine" then we are wrong. In recent situation most of the countries are trying to get proper medicine for instant treatment. Vaccine is completely different thing in this situation where scientists need good amount of time to make several experiment and tests before applying on human body. After completing all tests on human and animal body for minimum 1 to 1.5 year scientists will be able to make final decision. So i don't think we are going to find proper vaccine for "Covid-19" very soon.

Situation of "Corona virus" is getting worse in every seconds but still some peoples are not following lock-down guidelines specially in Asian countries. If all continues like this then obviously it will be quite tough to stop this pandemic in Asian region where a big number of people live under poverty line.

Why the hell would they want to move to china? I mean I get that many people believe China has already beat the virus and that way they can go where there is no virus since they no longer have it, however that requires you to believe what China says and not what you can imagine yourself. We are talking about a nation with over a billion population and they are not really honest about what they do as a government, there could be over 100k people infected there all we know and they might be keeping it a secret.

Does it really worth it to continue premier league and risk everyone's lives there? I would suggest otherwise honestly and keep it in England, they probably have a lesser chance of getting it or even if they do end up getting it, players are healthy professionals, they probably won't have any big risks at all.

That would be crazy to think it would happen as I believe and now the world is starting to believe that China is making a lot of this up with numbers. We really need to ask our self if the numbers put out by Chain are true because they really don't add up when compared to other countries around the world. So in my opinion this would be crazy if they move to China to continue the season. I think we just need to accept the fact that we most likely won't see any more football played this season and maybe this year as the cases are continuing to grow by the day now and a lot more in Europe.

But still this is not meant to coerce players and staff, negotiations are being carried out because the club is facing a financial crisis situation because of covid-19, no matches, no promotions and everything. Without negotiating to cut the salaries of players and staff, I am sure the club will go bankrupt or go into debt.
The decisions taken must be based on a joint decision through an internal meeting, the announcement of the meeting to be announced today. Hopefully, the players and staff understand the current Coronavirus pandemic situation as all competition matches have been postponed so it is reasonable that there is a salary reduction but still paying a decent amount of wages. It is unfortunate for the staff due to cuts up to 80% compared to the player only 30%.

I presume if players take temporary wage cuts it’ll benefit them by some form of large tax relief by the end of the year. There has to be some kind of benefit otherwise if it’s not compulsory why the hell would they agree to it?
For the interest of the club, for the interest of the community, social responsibility. There could be many good reasons.

All of player and staff has the right to get full salary as stated in their contract. But in a critical situation like now I am sure the club can also send requests to the players and all staff to negotiate salaries.

Full salary for not working fully? Don't think that'll be fair for the clubs. We all know the matches that are currently not been played contribute to the expenses of the club as it offers them the opportunity to sell tickets and also other allocation they get. The matches only offers opportunity for them to sell jersey and other accessories to fans.

The clubs need to cut down on some expenses when the league resume fully, If the footballers/workers aren't been considerate, I'm quite sure we'll see news popping up of clubs sacking some workers after them getting paid and the footballers not getting a new contract especially for those that haven't been that productive to the clubs.

You know what, I can respect all the players who've agreed to a pay cut, like those at Barca (that's why I love you guys a lot!) but you know what? I can also respect players who don't want to take a pay cut. Everyone has a right to a salary and their clubs should understand that. Freedom of personal choice.

So far I really praise the attitude of the players and staff from Barcelona who agreed to a 70% reduction in their salaries and I am also sure that there will be many clubs that make similar efforts to save money by paying salaries and staff.
