The '5 substitutes per game' proposition was rejected by Premier league clubs yesterday.

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/five-substitutions-rule-clubs-vote-a9657336.html

Quote
“Clubs also agreed to revert back to using up to three substitute players per match, with a maximum of seven substitutes on the bench.”

11 teams voted against, stating it would be an advantage for Top 6 clubs.

I agree with the decision and am happy to see the old substitute rule return.

Congratulations to Leeds, WBA and Fulham, they will play in the English Primer League season 2020/21, the history of three clubs have all played in the English Primer League even though it was then. Look at Leeds last at EPL in 2003/04, WBA in 2017/18 and Fulham in 2018/19.  And then they have experienced coaches except Fulham, Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, Bilic at WBA, and Scott Parker at Fulham. Bielsa and Bilic have experience and trophies while Scott Parker does not have, his achievements brought the promotion of Fulham to the EPL. Looking at the opportunities of the three team promotion in the season 2020/21 in the English Primer League, can they survive or just through?

interesting proposition for five substitutions during the match next season in Premier league, it will be voted, what do you think about it? is that needed and would that change the game, or even put Premier league teams in difficult position during European competitions, where three subs will stay as a rule

I do not agree with the 5 substitutions.
It delays matches a lot and it drops the pace significantly. It will be a new strategical move from the managers in order to drop the pace of a game and spend additional times.
Yea this is not good decsion by FA this is going to give some good benefit to big clubs and drop the pace as well 3 was doing very good for very long time but just because of this Covid19 now they are changing all momentum of this game which is going to kill beauti of soccer.

I think they are changing it a bit too much and too often recently. My opinion is that 3 subs are the soft spot, 5 from both sides will just unnecessarily drag out the games.

I'd support a rule where you can have 12 substitute players on the bench but 5 of them have to be under 21 years of age. 5 substitutes per game but 2 of them have to be from the u-21 category.

That would give more playtime to youngsters and would be beneficial to clubs in general. 5 substitutes rule just gives more power to rich clubs again - not something I like to see.

Did you see the 1st Fulham goal? I really can't explain what was in the head of Brentford's goalkeeper. The way he jumped after the goal was even more funny.
I really feel for the guy, he won't be able to sleep for a year probably. A horrible blunder, this stuff is career-wrecking.

It was an even game, Fulham just caught a lucky break at the end.

I think he was caught off guard & out of position, he didn’t even know where he was or where the goal was. Great thinking by the left back but the GK wants shooting for effectively costing his team a place in the PL.

Very expensive mistake and I'm not sure if he will ever recover.
I feel sorry because of them.
Brentford was so close and now have to wait one more year for new chance.

I didn't even know what had happened at first. Looked like it had gone wide and the keeper did one of those precautionary I had it covered anyway lads half-assed dives, then I saw the Fulham players celebrating and the replay and was like woah. But yeah, it was the keepers fault. When you do shit like this you're just asking for players to try catch you off guard. It's the same thing when keepers come off their line or out of their box because there's nothing going on, then a quick counter-attack from the other team leaves them open and vulnerable and they get lobbed. Saw it a couple of times last season. The play-off final game was pretty boring up until that goal. Don't really care who goes up or not but Brentford are a pretty small team really so it would have been nice to see them in the PL I guess. I think they would have struggled massively though and would have been one of those teams that goes straight back down.

I just heard that Newcastle deal was off the tables, I didn't hear about it at all anywhere before but it is a 5-6 day old news. It is not totally out of the running totally but it is still looking like not happening any time soon.

The saudi family said they are still looking into it and they are willing to make the deal but they just stopped giving a damn basically and wait around, if there is any new progress made by the premier league and by the team they would be fine to revisit and start discussions again but as you might imagine the money of Saudi arabia is welcomed yet the saudi arabia itself is not really all that welcomed in civilized world considering what they usually do when they are unhappy with someone. I guess it may not actually take place if they could find another buyer, but I am not sure if they could.

Brentford clearly resented luck or fate as everything has turned against them in recent weeks.
I hope it all come back to them next season because they definitely deserved it.
In matches like this, usually one little thing or a stupid mistake decides the winner.
When we talk about goalkeepers who won't be able to sleep who remembers Karius and the Champions League final?   Grin Grin
Situations like this happen more often than we think.

So devastating for Brentford, i really wanted to see them in EPL, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Congrats to Fulham fans (do we have any here?). Will Fulham repeat what they did in two years ago? get promoted, sign a bunch of players, then get relegated after finishing in 19th place  Roll Eyes

Yeah Sad. Brentford getting the spot would have been cool. Anyway congrats to Fulham for making it up in the PL.

Well, that's it for the 19/20 season. The next important match and the one that will welcome the 20/21 season will be the Community Shield in exactly 24 days: Liverpool - Arsenal

Wow that's another crazy fixture but it says it is likely to feature young players and fringe players: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-vs-liverpool-community-shield-22457687

I was hoping with bit of starters but anyway it will be still be good to hand others chance without risking any player with injury before the start of the season .

39 days to go.

Yeah, we all can't wait for the new season to come. Actually one more month is not a long time. But with a lot of player transfers in
the premier league, we want to see the performance of our favorite teams with new players. Hopefully in the next month there will be
a miracle with the found corona virus vaccine, so the premier league match can be normal with a live audience.

Fulham is officially in the Premier League now. Just watched parts of the game and just as I was preparing for some nice penalties action we got quite unbelievable goal from free kick. I say totally goal keeper fault.

Yes, Brentford's keeper is at fault for the first goal by Joe Bryan. The gap he gave was too. Bryan spotted it and capitalized on it. It's a well deserved victory. Well, it's past now since Fulham is officially back in the premier league alongside leeds and West brom. I'd like to see how all 3 clubs that got promoted to the PL would fare in the upcoming 2020 / 2021 season.
