It says in the story Tottenham also lost a friendly to a bottom side.

I'm excited for the start. Looks there like there will be games on sky (advertising around the story), I wonder what package will be needed. Cos I thought it was going to be on terrestrial TV to stop people congregating?

Pogba is back Wink

Pogba and Fernandes played in midfield together during the opening defeat, with Fernandes scoring a penalty and missing one.......

^  City wins.  Gonna parlay some obv wins for that match like first goal, last goal, over, under, etc, etc...  FJ has lots of those.

Funny with all the BLM stuff getting out of hand.  I even heard Sterling saying that the EPL 'needs more black coaches.'.  I mean sure but are there even elite black coaches that deserve to be given the biggest jobs?  Base it on credentials ffs not skin color.  I'm not being racist here...

There needs to be more Asian ones as well. And women. Where are the women managers? And Trans ones too. On a serious note, there probably is a lack of black managers but I don't think the solution is to just start hiring more merely based on their skin colour. That never seems right to me and is essentially doing what people are complaining about in the first place. I think there's also a lack of black managers because there's probably a lack of black players going into management as well. I certainly don't think a club would turn down a person just because of their skin colour either. There cerainly seems to be no issue in hiring black players so management shouldn't be any different. I hope Sterling goes into management when he retires. I doubt he'd have a problem getting hired.

Oooohh so that's whyyy.  Grin

But seriously.  It's all getting ridiculous.  Did you see that girl from Harry Potter shave her head for BLM?  Lolol.

Sancho and Havertz are 2 of my biggest wishes (Mbappe is 1st one but I think he might be out of reach already) but both are ~100 mil $ players and Liverpool would have to sell to buy any of them.
One reason why Liverpool won't spend this much is because Jurgen klopp is not the kind of manager who breaks the bank for players, I know he did that to get Virgil and Alisson but Liverpool needed quality players in those areas and since he fixed that, the team has been perfect and I think all they need now is just makeshift players (back ups). Another reason is there's so much understanding between Liverpool's front three of Salah, Mane and Firminho, if I was Klopp, I wouldn't want to break that bond, bringing in Sancho could disrupt the understanding amongst the trio, even though Sancho is brilliant.
Back to the topic: 5 long days to know if Arsenal will be knocked with +2 goals by City...
Am I the only one who thinks Arsenal is going to win this game?

Are you serious?, you are betting on Arsenal to win Manchester City, we all know it always end, these same Arsenal lost a friendly match to a championship side about two days ago and you saying they are going to win Manchester City, as a matter of fact the last time Arsenal won Manchester City was in 2017 an FA Cup tie, then when it comes to premier league the last time Arsenal won Manchester City was in 2015.
so I don't see chance of Arsenal winning Manchester City with their current form.

- A Black Lives Matter logo will be on shirts for the rest of the season

In which part of the shirts btw? Isnt this going to overlap with their sponsor's logo. Some shirt might have specific size for their own logo that might overlap or perhaps make the main sponsor's logo on their shirt looks weird (?)

The right decision at the right time or they shouldn't have made such a decision?
I think they are sending a very good message and I'm personally glad about that.

They are definitely trying to send some good message among their viewers and fans however on the other side, I do see that this is a great marketing technique. By making this decision, they are probably trying to get some sympathy from US viewers . Sending good message across the world through football and on the same time trying to get more sympathy from viewers, top rate marketing indeed  Wink

The highest English football competition, the Premier League, will soon be rolling again, more precisely on the 17th of June. That followed the German Bundesliga which had previously resumed three weeks ago. As is known, the competition has been stopped since March 9 because of the COVID19 pandemic.

However, instead of being filled with optimism and longing for football, field surveys show the opposite. From survey data by the British government, YouGov, the majority of people in the country of Queen Elizabeth actually feel that the Premier League starts too soon.

The Premier League released a statement with the following information:

- Player names will be replaced by Black Lives Matter for the first 12 matches
- A Black Lives Matter logo will be on shirts for the rest of the season
- The PL will support players who take a knee

What do you think?

Yup, this is insanity. Let's fight racism by.. being racist?
There should be only 1 criteria - credentials/quality. Where does it end otherwise?

Just playing devils advocate here, but what defines credentials? Fergie didn't really have any before United, and managers like Pep get big jobs with huge teams almost straight away. It's hard to get your foot in the door and you have to do something pretty remarkable to get noticed, especially if you weren't already a top player, so it's hard to build up something that wasn't already given to you.

We also don't have female coaches, let's put 3 so we are not discriminating. Also we need 2 vegans, one flatearther and a dog that thinks he's an armchair (pun intended).

I'm all for freedom for everyone. But nobody should be given a position because of that 'minority' bullshit alone.

You're either good or you are not. End of.
Yeah let's put a dog as referee like good ol' days in International superstar soccer deluxe  Smiley
I strongly oppose vegans since you know they can starve midgame and who knows what will happen!
Maybe we need to see a non-white queen too?

/Serious: better to neglect nonsense and illogical comments. I think that he intend to show his support or want to see one of his comrades in the field? Players and coaches have to prove themselves to get their places. There is definetly some shady hidden agreements to select a coach or player rather than another but for sure it is not generalised and the best example is the French soccer team.

Not sure how I feel about this. Could be silly. I'd prefer just the empty stadiums. At least it looks like you can turn the noise on or off on Sky:
Same here. I do know they're trying to give more life to each game and make viewers experience better but everything becomes unnatural.
- Good thing they'll be giving options to viewers.
- Personally, I would've preferred improving the experience for players in stadiums than viewers at home (they are the ones who need to feel the pressure the most).

This political pandering is getting pretty cringe.
In addition to the slogan part, the article that you linked also mentioned having "heart-shaped badges" somewhere in the kits...

Dele Alli will miss Tottenham’s clash with Manchester United after being hit with a one–match ban by the FA for a social media post appearing to mock an Asian man.

Asian lives matter. I saw yesterday that the PL was in talks to replace players name with the slogan Black Lives Matter and it looks like it's going ahread now: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/11/premier-league-shirts-to-show-support-for-black-lives-matter-and-nhs-minute-silence-coronavirus

Sancho would be a starter in every team in the world according to his current form.

He is out of reach for almost all clubs, I think Liverpool will not make such a transfer in this period. I can see him coming if for some reason Salah was to be transferred, and I'd consider it a great piece of business.

I do agree in this case. Saudi Arabia actually has one of the worse records for human rights abuses that goes on every day but I always wondered why most countries including my own are so friendly with them (yes, I know,,, money but still,,, I do not know how to be friends with rulers who torture and treat humans like garbage.
Saudi Arabia Is a country, what ever law placed is by there government, rulers and counties can selfishly keep good relationship between themselves and the country, not regarding human rights is irritatingly annoying and should be stopped, but so it generalizing it to the whole country, am not from Saudi Arabia but I think there are Saudi Arabian that think it's wrong, -you can be friendly with individuals judging them by what they do not what is linked to them-

Saudi Arabia has some appalling human rights records too so it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Football shouldn’t just be about who has the richest owner. Small to medium sized clubs shouldn’t be able to just buy their way to the top through a rich sugar daddy.

Also another breaking news update for you’ll, and I’m expecting @tokeweed to shout in delight after reading that Dele Ali has been suspended for Tottenhams match against Manchester United, and this means that Tottenham will be weakened right from the start and Manchester United should easily win this fixture.

Quote

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12004806/dele-alli-tottenham-midfielder-to-miss-manchester-united-clash-through-suspension

The video was posted on 6th February according to the news and it was taken down immediately(?). Also he played several games before the league was suspended in late February and early March

And now after the league is back, he is suspended for an action that past months. Dont see any issue at all if the video has been taken down according to the news (?) but missing 1 game especially after the long wait is really a harsh punishment

Edit : after reading it once again, I do realize that could cause controversion and racism towards specific ethnics as well but they should just fined him alot more instead of banning him for a match

Sancho & Mbappe are probably the two best signings a big club could make atm. They’re both so young & exciting, so young with so much room to still improve.

Jordan Sancho is said to be 120 million euro in value right now on transfarmarkt right now, it is really not that easy to get a player like that. Of course, he would be amazing in Liverpool but lets be honest he would probably be amazing anywhere he goes. I do not doubt his talents but I doubt if Liverpool could spend that much money during the worst financial situation of football has ever been in just to get one more player.

Liverpool is already leading the league in a record breaking point situation and I feel like maybe they would be just enough without any transfers and spending any money. That way they could just wait another year, already got the title, and just focus on next year, that way they could spend a lot less money or at least see how finances will be like.

Undoubtedly Sancho will be a great signing for any club in the world, but personally I don't think Liverpool can spend such amount of money just on one player, Liverpool have been known to buy low and then sell later at a high price, so I don't see Liverpool getting Sancho and I also have this feeling that Liverpool are going to break Manchester city's 100 points record this season, because I don't see Liverpool losing to any other team apart from Manchester City.
