Vrontis can we do anything to get you again in our community?

I understand that you don't want to do a lot of work for nothing.
We had an AT fund for the CIYAM team.
To ALL believer in Qora here: can we make a similar fund for our Qora team?
Maybe not only @vrontis but @agran, too, would join again. And who know, maybe @Qora himself too...

I agree, Qora community is small but quite thoughtful and focused on the issues. We have shown remarkable resilience over the bear market of 2014-15, and as we approach our 2nd birthday I'm feeling very positive for the future. Great tech, great devs, and maybe one of the best decentralized power structures too. I don't feel influence and decision making authority is concentrated anywhere in particular. That's very healthy!

In response to your questions:

1. It is my personal belief that going forward, we should do things the "democratic way" in order to encourage members participation, spur discussions, and foster a stronger sense of community.  Since both me and Skerberus had already come out and stated publicly that the team would respect the community's decision, I feel it would be inappropriate for any member of the dev team to make their position known at this point (as not to influence other members' thinking).

If you feel strongly about something, or if you really want something get done so badly, you can certainly lobby for votes and support.    Feel free to use this thread as the forum to sway public opinion and solicit votes.  

I'd just like to say that, personally, I really enjoy the discussion that has taken place in the past couple days. I find it both enlightening and refreshing. I think we should do it more often.  

2. If anyone feels that there's any Qora-related issue we should discuss or even put to vote, feel free to set up a poll and state your case in this thread.    Or if you like, you can let me know, and I'll make an announcement or even write up a beautiful post for you.  

3. Both CIYAM and vbcs are valuable members of Qora community, and they'll definitely continue to be members of Team Qora.  I've been in contact with CIYAM, and he had shared some of his visions for Qora with me.  One thing I can say for certain is this: there's definitely some exciting development going on, and great things are coming!

What I had to do is to deposit some qora into my wallet. That part I was missing.
Then I had to register a username for the network.

Done that and now I am participating as a peer

Hi there i had a similar problem another day and i had not found the solutions in anyplace, today i finally found and you can try my solution if you want.

All you have to do is delete your wallet.dat or copy to another place in case of any problem, reinstall qora wallet and when run, the qora wallet is going to ask if you want to create a new wallet or recover the old one, try to recover the old one by tiping your "seed hash" code. this solutions worked for me

A big big thanks to every body involved and taking the time to seriously think over and weigh the odds in this whole voting process. It is quite frankly a liberating process for me since the foundation of this process is intact as it should be. A few days ago, i installed the wallet. Everything is synchronized. But when I go to "Accounts" all adresses stay on zero

It's not clear that hosting your own docker is enough to get you listed on Microsoft's blog as a partner or whatever, which quite frankly seems to be the whole point of this exercise - get a little free publicity rather than actually having an easily deployable Azure instance. Did NEM actually do this? It seems they are still mulling it over. Maybe because if they do it this way then there's no free publicity about how they're "partnering with Microsoft" and so it's not even worth the bother?

This page says it costs ~$13.392/month to join for the cheapest subscription price, although there is tiered pricing all the way up to ~$725.4/month.

Afaik there is no paying $13 a month to get on Azure without signing licensing agreements. Could you point me to where that is offered on Azure's website? I know some NEM folk have mentioned it, but also afaik NEM isn't on Azure period, paying $13 a month or not.

I think we should compromise and pay the $13 a month to get on Azure without signing a license so CIYAM continues to contribute to Qora. If we decide to join Azure we should all vote on whether to join for free, or pay the $13 a month to avoid signing Microsoft licenses here.

I'm no legal expert, but I briefly researched free software licensing and it appears that GNU says Qora's MIT license does not protect users from patent treachery. GNU recommends the Apache 2.0 license since it blocks patent treachery.

I couldn't find any tests of free software licenses in court, the GPL's first big test case against VMware is still ongoing. There don't appear to be any big test cases that set a legal precedent for free software licenses yet.

Couldn't we all compromise and pay the $13 a month to get on Azure without having to sign licensing agreements with Microsoft? That way we get the best of both worlds, Qora gets onto Azure, and CIYAM keeps contributing.

I have not felt concern.
In principle I also have no problem with bad words against me. It is very difficult to offend me because I don't allow anybody to disturb my well-being. In addition, I do not always understand everything ...

I have a few questions:
1. I would very much like to know what our devs think about Azure.

2. Has the departure of 2 members (in the last weeks or month) from the Qora team something to do with different opinions over azure?

Yes! I agree wholeheartedly! 

IMO the only moderation should be for obvious FUD with no content ('this coin is a scam' with no details etc) and abuse ('XYZ is a dick' etc).

Robust heated debate with intellectual content is great, passion is good too

In my humble opinion, fostering an environment where debate and dialog can take place is an important part of community-building process.

As a community, we should strive to become a democracy where all sides' arguments can be presented and heard. We should become more tolerant and encourage more members to speak their minds and present their views and arguments. Juding from all the debates and disucssions going on in the past couple days, I'd say we're going the right way.  

Personally, I'm very appreciative of everyone's input, regardless of whether I agree with the argument put forth or not. From what I see, jwinterm has been very civil in presenting his view. So I, for one, definitely welcome his participation in our discussion and his decision to take part in our community.  

Having said that, I think having a moderated thread will be considered against the spirit of a community project such as Qora. My personal preference is to keep things the way they are right now.
