You really do not need to keep seeking or looking for what is not lost! Looking at the coin market capitalization, Bitcoin has almost the largest capitalization. Bitcoin is your long term holding coin!
The OP was probably looking for an altcoin for long-term investment and that was the reason why he posted it in the altcoin section. There are a few alts which can be considered for long-term holding. My list would include Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, Cardano, NEO, NEM and BItcoin Cash.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are both long term coin to hold. I am particularly interested in Ethereum because of it's room fir growth! Ethereum is one of the best Altcoin and I believe it will remain so for a long term. Ethereum will keep pulling fund and thereby increase in value!

Because the two currencies are the most stable, have the largest community, the highest value, the price of the currency directly affects the Altcoin market ... once there are many different ratings, including the ratings of the prospects of the coin at long distances to choose quite simple. personally, I choose ripple. bitcoin also looks good in long-term trading.

I think that Cardano is a good option. I always believe that coins should be anonymous and ADA is an example of this.
I think if you want to seek for a long-term coin, then you can choose bitcoin only because bitcoin will increase in the long-term so maybe you can prepare from now on to buy bitcoin. the other coin can also increase higher like bitcoin but bitcoin will make another highest price and meanwhile, the other coin is only following what bitcoin do in the future and they cannot increase higher like bitcoin. but you need to have a big budget to buy a whole 1 bitcoin because right now, the bitcoin price is more than $8k.
