I don't think it is necessary to convert Bitcoin into Ethereum. Bitcoin's status cannot be replaced by other currencies. Bitcoin is king. You can invest in Ethereum and hold it for a long time. They are all potential coins.

You can convert some of your bitcoin into ethereum. But converting all may not be a wise decision.

Yeah, they both are really good at their own ways, so I think it is kind of extreme to buy all of one type for another, it may be better to hold both of them, though I recommend holding bitcoin in the most part.
