I actually don't hate it because they are adding back the number of minutes that was wasted during the course of the game and discouraging time wasting for teams, if you're calling a 90 minutes games and due to VAR checks and number of stoppages as much as much 20 minutes get's waste then was the essence of calling it a 90 minutes game, the new rule is only trying to ensure that each teams actually plays for 90 minutes and not 60-70 when the remaining 20-30 minutes are being spent on the floor, or getting involved is scuffles and other dirty antics.
If not for the fact that it would do damage to a lot dynamics about football in general, I might even suggest instead of given those large minutes which are the amount minutes wasted, they should just implement a count down time like that of NBA matches, where the count would down begin from 90 minutes and stopped in times of VAR checks and potential injuries that brings the game to a halt.
