Great goal from Salah - give him the contract, those are the individual brilliance that get you trophies.
A day with great upsets. Arsenal to lose with Castle, City just lost with Bournemouth, Liverpool was close but thanks to Salah again. 2 goals 3 minutes turned the match around. It's a big day for us, point table leader, what else we could expect.

What do you think about Chelsea match tomorrow? A draw or another upset?

Newcastle odds were 35/10, Bournemouth were a shocking 5/1 -- why I didn't take those bets. Still upsets, for sure, but the odds were stacked less against them than they usually are (Bournemouth, in particular, outshot City 6 to 2 at some point before the equaliser!).

But yeah, we could have and probably should have lost. We don't have our best keeper, we had our best CB pairing disrupted, I was almost expecting a day of dropped points when our closest rivals lost. Salah, as always, the difference. Ignore his age, he was a late bloomer, his full bloom will last many more years.

Chelsea and United? Odds are even, there is no upset here unless it's 5-0 either way...

Lack of squad depth and Arteta not having a backup plan will ruin this season again, he doesn't know how to manage a club with injury crisis. He was very lucky last season not to have injury crisis but things are looking a lot different now and he's getting exposed.
Injury crisis does not expose a manager, it is a difficult time for anyone and one that will affect performance, look at City without Rodri.
About the transfer market, we did terrible business. How did they let Eddie go and leave Jesus, sold ESR, loaned Fabio and brought in Sterling, plus a defender, which was the department we least needed reinforcements in.

Manchester City are in complete disarray; they don't deserve to win the league this season, and if they do, we might as well rename the league after Pep.
City have been able to recover from slow starts in the last few seasons, they could do it again. It is us who are out of the race.

Arsenal without a shot on target. Really composed Newcastle performance, they deserved the points today.
For what it is worth we got one Roll Eyes

2 seasons ago, our strength was our attack with everyone getting goals, last season we had a solid defense to compliment it. This season, we have had a shaky defense and a not so sharp attack. I would have liked to see more players come in during the last window.

Both big teams are in pressure. City behind one goal with Bournemouth and Brighton is pressing Liverpool. Can they recover? While I don't want City to get all three points but for us if we can score a few goals and win from behind then that will be great.

With a win today for LFC, it's a 7-point gap in front of them and only City as serious contenders for the title.

Yes, I know, way too early to start with the calculations.. But I'm really surprised with the season so far, especially without any signings. Not counting mostly injured and always horrible Chiesa.

I think Arsenal will win today, Saliba is back and Saka will be fitter than last week with another week training.

Newcastle will start fast and furious, it won’t he easy but if I was betting on it, I would go for a narrow Arsenal win.
Not going so well so far. Not just the scoreline, we are not playing very well, pressing poorly allowing Newcastle play around them and not being able to play around the press that is put on us.

I hate early kickoffs, they are usually very tricky just like Friday match-days. Would have been great if we were close enough that winning will take us up to second or first lace, but as it stands we just put little pressure on the two teams above us and we really need to beat Newcastle with the form they are in.

I do not want to look below us. Failing to win could mean Villa or Chelsea could leapfrog us, but at least they got tough opponents to play too.

Really hoping it’s a comfortable win for Liverpool today, we need to keep up the pressure on Arsenal and Man City.

Arsenal and City have, on paper at least tougher games against Newcastle and Bournemouth, both away. Hopefully one of them drops points.

I love the early games! People like me can watch them like normal without zombifying life Wink Am I wrong or is the first game the best of all? No no I didn't forget Manchester United - Chelsea but we all know one of that 2 is a shitty team and it is wearing red Wink

Erik certainly would have won against Leicester City if he was still in charge, because Leicester City are terrible and there is nothing to see here. The real test for Ruud would come against Chelsea, not Leicester City.
I am not so sure about that.
Players wanted to see him out, and Manchester won only one time in last eight matches from all competition.
Leicester is not a world class team but they managed to score two goals against Man United, that tells you something.

Exactly man and Leicester still won 2 games in last 5, not so different from United. With a much older and weaker team. ETH games were 50/50.

Amorim games, gonna be 50/50 too, for this season. His teams do well because they are his exact team. I'm not sure about Manchester United players, if they can take the style he needs.

It is exactly as @arallmuus said. New manager effect, or rather, old manager out effect. There is a scientific study that says this is a thing because players want to impress their new boss or new manager, so they can get first pick and better salary. First impressions are psychological and just seeing Bruno back on his best, Casemiro, these guys were not giving 100% to ETH near the end, I bet.

Nothing has changed at United except for the change of manager so it has to be the new manager in/old manager out syndrome. ETH won't have won Leicester in the way the boys did under Ruud but I don't support him taking the role for a longer period.

He should leave on a high note because him being incharge for more games could turn sour. Right now what everybody is doing is to just impress the new manager and have a buzz around them. Why didn't they play as they did against Leicester throughout the opening fixtures of this season. When I see things like this happening, I get annoyed at the players because they're doing this things on purpose. Assuming I had powers in situations like this, I'll let go of most of the players and bring in my own squad because they'll still turn on me as they did the former manager.

I doubt even Ruud will want it, if he doesn't want to be the 3rd Holland guy to be destroyed after ETH and LVG, rust me he doesn't want to be remembered as the shit RVN lol
I also doubt he will want the job, the risk of starting your managerial career in such a difficult environment could derail his growth as a manager and bring him under so much potential criticisms. Best place for a manager to start is where Xabi did, at a club with low pressure, under promise and over deliver.

It does not matter now cause the new manager has already been confirmed and will be taking over in some days. Still sometime to see how RVN performs.

I wonder if United are now thinking if with the performance of yesterday they may need to consider Ruud van Nistelrooy as an interim manager for longer to see how he works with the team. They played better than I have seen the team in months and this came only few days after RVN took over. It is a lot of money they are planning to throw at Amorim and he has not been tested much either.

Today is Wednesday, Amorim hasn't travelled yet; there isn't enough time for him to take care of the game against Chelsea; he will most likely be in the stands this weekend.
We are waiting for official confirmation, but latest news from Premier League are saying that Manchester United hired a new manager Ruben Amorim from Sporting, after they finally kicked out Erik ten Hag.
I dont know if this news affected Man United players but they destroyed Leicester in EFL Carabo cup with 5:2 result, and with van Nistelrooy as the coach.

No pressure on him, though; a new manager has been hired, so whether he does well against Chelsea or not is irrelevant.

Either way, I'm glad Man United is sorting out their mess. I don't like the club but there needs to be more challengers to Manchester City and if they can finally score 5 goals, its good for the Premier League.

We are far from being sorted out. So far we've had decent result on Cup but terrible on EPL as well as Europa League so the real challenge would be on weekend against Chelsea. I just hope that we dont embarass ourselves against Chelsea, it would be great if we win though

Anyway, I just noticed that we always produce decent game result after managers were switched out. Ole used to win 4-0 against Liverpool but then again the rest were lame history for that season

I wonder if United are now thinking if with the performance of yesterday they may need to consider Ruud van Nistelrooy as an interim manager for longer to see how he works with the team.

Ruben is taking over after the game against Chelsea most likely

Crystal Palace for Arsenal, we may have gotten the best draw possible, but still have to play and win.

Manchester City out, Tottenham must be dancing!

Van Gaal, Mourinho, etc. If you look at their averages, it is not very different from ETH. He is the easy scapegoat but your club structure is what is the most responsible for this mess, and your ownership finances.
I think ETH was given longer time than either Van Gaal or Mou before being sacked, he was actually the one constantly looking for which player to put on the chopping block, first Ronaldo and then Sancho.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is doing well in his first official match as manager, United is seeing out Leicester in the EFL cup.

Same as my club Barca. They fired Xavi and Flick is amazing, but people forgot Xavi already won La Liga with us, already reversed our results vs Real Madrid, already brought us back Supercopa in first season. But we forgot, we didn't fix the rotten structure and it cost us eventually.
The times I watched Barca under Xavi they did not look to be moving forward as a team, they did not have the identity they as a club have always had. Flick does not need trophies to show he has a plan for the club, under a few weeks the identity he is building is showing up and bringing results.

EFL Cup glory is coming, don't worry lol

Flick needs trophies, trust me:P Fans and media are only satisfied with wins and trophies. I do disagree about Xavi, he had one season to bring back belief, and another to solve the mess with financial problems, but I do agree he got too caught up in politics, can't blame him his love is for the club. We needed Flick now, someone not so emotional about the club.
