Bro I'm not crazy!!! If it isn't in the press, how am I meant to know the guy was offered a deal? There's absolutely nothing about any deal on the Internet - if you have inside information, you could as well reveal the contract terms because it (contract) must be pretty bad for him to reject such a deal 5 times.
Told kids " we're not in the title race" and they took it personally, now we're dropping points left and right. All make sense now. .
Doesn't have to be in the news - Liverpool does a lot of things privately nowadays. A lot of the latest signings were also completely out of the blue.
For Trent it isn't about the contract, it's about having the opportunity to try something new. Apparently, the contract offered is between 300-350 weekly but from what I hear he's likelier to reject it and move on.
Salah wants to stay, his contract will probably be renewed for 2 more years. I have a feeling VVD stays as well, probably on a year by year contract.
Usually I agree 100%. But maybe LFC plays in a different range in transfers. I read a long long long article maybe last season or 2 seasons ago explaining that actually Liverpool doesn't really look at transfer fees on its own. Salary is more important to them, and the returns. They actually apparently price in expected returns, playing time, training benefits into the fee.
Unlike other clubs, and it was a very interestng data-based strategy. The price isn't the first thing, but the last thing. So if they think the last 6 months on the contract = 10 assists + 2 trophies + whatever, then they think, yes this is worth 25 miliion. They don't care.
Players, like everyone else, see the price first thing, so they are always negotiating with LFC backwards.
But will TAA really leave in such bad taste if he leaves for free? Its not like he asked to be transferred. If its because he asked for too much, then I guess yeah he becomes greedy I get it but if any of them leave now, at the end of season, for free, I think why not? If they want to move on.
Yeah, this is the current strategy. But for Trent it's a no-brainer - he's a player with huge value. Liverpool does not spend any money basically, so I don't see us being able to go out and buy a player that's world class. If we sold him on time, it would have been easier to replace him with a player of similar quality.
