I thought Cerundolo would have been counted as the winner directly as De Minaur didn't even make it to the tournament. But it looks like it will be counted as "the same" if Cerundolo doesn't beat Huesler today. I guess the question won't be removed from this round but I'm lucky that my opponent picked the same answer as me.  Grin
De Minaur was in the draw and seeded on Sunday. I don't know if he left on Monday or later. If you google De Minaur Eastbourne you will still get hits on google even though actual pages where links lead have him replaced with Jarry. That is moot point anyway, we don't have a habit of doing trick questions on purpose but there could be one thrown in here and there.

I spoke with cryptofrka and we agreed on following:
1. Question will not be voided, if we intended to do that we would have done it immediately when it became a "problem"
Quote from rules:
Quote
Forfeits in sports like Tennis or loses due to technical problems in eSports are counted as regular ML wins.
2. If Cerundalo wins today, he is correct answer. If Cerundalo looses today, Same is correct answer. This match today has almost even odds on Cerundalo and his opponent so this is by no means a done deal.

It looks like the tennis question related to Cerundolo and De Minaur has made things really complicated here after De Minaur's not even participating in the tournament. I'm also one of the members who didn't check if he was in the tournament and picked him as an answer to that question.  Grin

But this also leads to many more potential questions and edge cases. If we submit answers on Tuesday whether Haaland will score a goal on Saturday and an injury is announced beforehand, what are we going to do? Those with a "No" have a point while those with a "Yes" lose. Should the question be voided? What if someone says that he took into account a potential injury when choosing "No"? Frankly, I have been taking into account withdrawals and injuries when giving my answers, for example when I made my choices for Alcaraz or other players in a tournament.

Perhaps these are different scenarios, so we can't grade them the same way. I swear to Allah, when I posted my answers on Tuesday, I scrolled through the entire news site and LiveScores looking for Alex's opponent but couldn't find anyone, and he was never mentioned on the tournament bracket either. It appears that he was never going to participate in the tournament because there was nothing about him on the official site, no injury news, no withdrawal news, he never existed in the first place.

Those who answered on Monday, was Alex on the schedule bracket? I'm 100% I didn't even think about the question until Tuesday. If he was and then withdrew along the way the question is valid. Advantage to my opponent

Void or not I hope the other guy loses today to put everything thing at rest.

If the competition had started to begin with before he withdraw drew to injury or other issue, it would be understandable, but his name wasn't in even in the bracket at all, If it was it would have be recorded as Walkover or Retirement, in that case then it's fine, but in this case he replaced by another player, as a new draw was made.

There is no sportbook that would have settled the bet as lost, if you placed an outright on him to win the or going further some other player.

I'll leave the decision to Cro2 team to decide according to their initial intention of the question, if it was intentional, I'm sure it would have been graded already by now on the spreadsheet.

I don't think that Trofo and cryptofrka made up him competing in the tournament. He was probably scheduled to play while they were writing the questions, but later he withdrew probably for the reason casperBGD mentioned. I'm good however the Cro2 team decides - to void the question or not. Even though voiding the question would make me loose a point.

Perhaps we should allow for people to adjust their answers in obvious cases until the official deadline. If they fail to update their answers, it is their responsibility. Maybe we could open two spreadsheets and one is the official one where all the first answers get registered and then a second one that also gets published, but corrections are only allowed where facts materialize before the deadline hits. That way everybody is still his own boss and can submit correction, thereby showing some dedication to this competition.

It would also be transparent as everyone could see when corrections were submitted.

Tennis question, I have an edge now because it seems my opponent leea answered very early Wink and I can't blame him, I still saw Alex de Minaur news as if he was joining the tournament when I looked.

It's an advantage for me but I kind of agree with Harkorede, on these kinds of questions... are we trying to encourage everyone to submit answers late? Because I'm sure if the early guys who submitted early could see the news easily, they wouldn't answer Alex. I only knew because I read this thread Wink In sportsbetting, the bet is lost if the guy actually played and retired, but if he didn't even play, bet is void, right?
We hate when stuff like this happens but we do have a rule in the OP that says tennis result count as regular even when forfeit happens. On bookies it would be voided if you had De Minaur outright but we have duel and if Cerundalo wins today it is clear he came further in the tournament.

Question is purposly worded in a way that forfeit doesn't affect it. We do have another problem if Cerundalo looses today. This is second round of tournamnet and De Minaur should have started it this round as well but withdrew from the tournament. Is that a same answer then or Cerundalo wins just by showing on pitch? We will think about it and give a definite ruling here in thread before the match starts.

Edit: his name was in the draw. I choose him and cerundalo as duel because they were 3rd and 4th seeds. He was free in first round as seed and then withdrew before first round finished.

I really don't know if it's booby trap from Cro2 team, but if that's he case I would rather we don't have this kind of questions that are inconclusively, If when I did my research and it was stated that Alex De Minaur would not be participating, I will get it that they just want everyone to do their due diligence, but I don't know if in Tennis a player can join just along the way without starting the from the first round, just like it's not every one that would participate in Wimbledon have play through the qualifiers.

So If Alex De Minaur isn't going to participate in Eastbourne, then it's an invalid question, at least that's my opinion.

I don't think that it's a booby trap question from the Cro2 team. De Minaur was probably scheduled to participate at the tournament while they were writing the questions. That's precisely the reason why I always wait for Tuesday to give my answers because with tennis you never know. I don't think that it should be invalid question because everyone had time to wait and see that he withdrew from the tournament. It's similar as if he was injured and had to withdraw.

he was scheduled, but he probably didn't expected to reach finals against Alcaraz in London, and it is not an usual practice, but you can expect from lower ranked players to miss next tournament when reach final on previous (they didn't used to play week after week whole week, usually few rounds until QF/SF)

so he withdrew, probably being to tired, and Wimbledon starts next week, it is better to start fresh there
I don't think that he was not planning to play in the first place

nevertheless, we discussed that yesterday already

expected more from Canada, not because they are good, didn't think that Guadalupe is that good, all their players basically play for European club, mostly first divisions

Yeah, but we are not betting here. Besides, the Cro2 team are the managers of this competition and they have the right to apply rules that doesn't apply to the sports betting if they see it fit. Like I said in the post above yours, they probably wrote the question before the news of him withdrawing from the tournament got published. How could have they know that he will withdraw if they released the questionnaire before that? And since there is no benefit for answering early, I don't know why some of you guys and girls are in a hurry to answer on Monday? I always check the questions on Monday, answer few of them and then wait for Tuesday to answer the rest. Google Form saves the questions answered on Monday so I don't have to answer them on Tuesday.

Snooker question is incoming for sure. I used to watch that sport a lot and I know more than enough to make a good question even if I don't follow current players that closely. Cricket is a big problem for us, it is very popular but it is also very hard sport to properly understand and we know nothing about it. Then there is also the fact that game lasts trough several days and usually collides with our deadlines.

Cricket is weird to understand, my whole family is into it, so I know a little about it, but it never really interested me even though all my cousins are into it, and all that.

I think secretly it's popular because it's family entertainment that you can leave on in the background like music, no need to pay attention to it all the time.

There are new format cricket tournaments that don't last days anymore, and you can focus on leagues like IPL, which officially tries to keep the format to max 3.5 hours (but generally each lasts around 4 hours). There are some cricket fans on Chat I remember, and maybe can even ask Steve who did the cricket 4-3-free promos. Those were very standard IPL based questions that can go on BSFL.

T20 is also around 4 hours and Europe qualifiers are next month. Same easy 4-3-free format.

Example would be like:
In the match between Team A and Team B, who wins. How many 4s scored. How many 6s scored.

Answer would be Team A, 30, 12

And it's pretty straightforward Google also shows the results easily (try google "t20 2022 results" and click Scorecard). You can answer, research past results, without knowing the game.

Just by looking at the H2H and recent games, they didn't seem like -2.5 Handicap team for Canada, it was an easy decision...

On the Tennis question, I think the question should be null and avoid, how can some not playing in a tournament get eliminated, and I did research on the tournament after not finding him on the bracket, and I'm sure there was a link that mentioned that he would join the tournament from a specific round or so.

I experienced the same problems. I looked up the bracket and schedules on many livescores but couldn't find Alex De Minaur fixtures but I just went ahead and picked him because of his seed ranking and since I don't know much about tennis fixtures and stuff like that but if the question was set on purpose only the Cro2 team can clear that up, I also noticed that the Cro2 team went the other way round just like the majority of the members, there could have been a mix up somewhere and I'd love to hear their explanation

For the Canada game; some.of you really thought Canada is a good football team? Fellas they only have mid players with 1 world class LB  Grin

There were two websites that I found on Google saying that De Minaur is already out. One website is a tennis discussion forum and they mentioned that on June 25th already. The other website also reported on June 25th that De Minaur is out and Jarry wins by walkover and plays against either Barrere or Ruusuvuori. That was kind of the confirmation for me that the news is real.

Edit: But I did the research at a later point in time and when I first had a look he was still scheduled.

But I actually lost the Georgia question because I waited for so long. I wanted to go with Georgia wins the group, but when the Netherlands scored that goal and I saw the game statistics, I changed my answer to runner-up - and lost! Tongue Even before the game I wanted to go with Georgia as the group leader, but this goal made me think that Georgia will be shocked and fall apart in the 2nd half. Indeed lost a point because I let myself be convinced of the wrong outcome.

I followed the first half. I was going to choose Georgia as the group leader. However I changed my mind after the equalizer that came in the last minute. Because Netherlands were way ahead in the statistics. I still can't believe this match ended up with a draw.

I had similar thought about this. At first I chose Georgia as group leader but then I thought there is no way that Netherlands is going to get 3 draws in a row so I changed that to runner up. I was even quite confident that they are going to win against Georgia especially after they scored the equalizer just before the first half ended  Roll Eyes. What a start for us thanks to Netherlands

That's great that you had a similar thought about Georgia and the Netherlands! It's always interesting when people have different opinions and predictions. It seems like you were initially confident in Georgia's performance against the Netherlands, especially after they scored the equalizer just before the first half ended. The unpredictability of sports can definitely add to the excitement and make the game more fun to watch. It's great that the Netherlands' performance gave your team a positive start. Enjoy the thrill of the game and may your team continue to have success! 😄🎉

I knew the first half would have been concluded before deadline, but I literally just didn't care about it because I knew it wouldn't give me any advantage, so I submitted my pick from the first glance of opening the questions after my due diligence, that's why I'm one of the first people to submit their answers.

Guadelope is on the verge of giving me another correct answer, I was happy when they took the lead and when into halftime with the lead, Canada is now up 2-1 with 4 minutes to go.

EDIT: They've the equalizer it's 2-2 now, wow!

1.
Third seed Alex De Minaur is on a hot run on grass and can see his path to another final opening up from his round of 16 opener.

De Minaur starts against either Frenchman Gregoire Barrere or Finn Emil Ruusuvuori.

Should seeding hold in the Aussie’s quarter he will face Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in the last eight.

2.
The third quarter of the draw is led by third seed Alex de Minaur, who reached the final at the Queen's Club. Known for his speed and agility, de Minaur has an impressive grass-court game. He could potentially face Gregoire Barrere or Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round, both of whom can pose a significant challenge.
