The first semi-finalist in volleyball has been determined. Turkey beat China 3-2 and advanced to the semi-finals.

We are proud of our girls, they showed us a great match.

Now they will be paired with the winner of the Serbia-Italy match.

Vinesh Phogat actually stunned so many including me by defeating the reigning Olympic Champ(Yui Susaki) in seconds like it was nothing. Unbelievable stuff by the Indian grappler.

On top of that, she actually managed to defeat another pro(Livach) a little while earlier and entered the semifinals. Legend! Also, Neeraj Chopra qualified for the final by almost hitting 90m. Another legend!

^ Yup, hats off to Philippines for carrying the good fight for Southeast Asia. I don't know why I thought Malaysia had some chances in badminton -- while they had some young upstarts, we've never really recaptured the levels of talent we had a decade or so ago. We've faded in bowling, and the diver from my village who got us a crazy silver all those years ago also has dropped off. Hoping for one more hurrah in boxing for you guys in Philippines!

The Philippines just won its second gold in gymnastics courtesy of Carlos Yulo. He did it first in artistic gymnastics and again in the men's vault.
Prior to Hidilyn Diaz winning gold in the 2020 Olympics, we had a 100-year drought. Now, the Philippines has the potential to add more gold as there are still three hopefuls: two in boxing and one in the high jump.
The Philippines is now leading the medal haul in the South East; the Philippines has really come a long way.

EJ Obiena
nearly just missed out on the podium for the men's pole vault. Hidilyn Diaz won the silver medal prior to her gold medal and Carlos Yulo won his bronze medal prior to his two gold medals which give much hope that EJ Obiena will get to the podium for LA 2028 Olympics.

The Philippines is definitely on a good momentum considering that athletes especially in gymnastics are not sufficiently supported. Hopefully after such a success, the government will focus more on training such young talents.

And we have our female boxers assured of 2 bronzes already, but they will continue to go and fight tonight and hope that they can go and win and for the semis, assuring of at least a silver but for sure the aim is to go for that gold.
can't wait to watch their fight later, I've been following their fights from the beginning(all of our boxers in the Olympics tbh) and they are on fire, I hope both of them can advance to the finals and hopefully get another gold for the country.

What should we do with Imane Khalifs opponents then? Shouldnt we give them a double respect? Every opponent has trained years to fight against women and have faced something different on this Olympics. After this Olympics games, I hope Olympic committee would make some conclusions and boxers as well. I really hope that boxers next time will adopt their training to facing transgenders.
huh? why? Imane Khelif was never a transgender, she never transitioned into anything, she was born a woman with female body parts, raised as a woman and Identified as a woman all her life. it's nasty that there are people who are clearly ignorant about her medical condition and still insist that she is a transgender(tbh I am curious if there are people who don't know what transgender means). the amount of misinformation and hate she received from people because of a boxer who clearly could not take a hard hit and then cried and surrendered is just incredibly ridiculous(no offense to the Italians 😂).

Yesterday, I really wanted Armand Duplantis to break world and Olympic records even though he is not a citizen of my country.
The boy broke the pole vault record with 6.25 meters, with the support of his competitors as well as the spectators in the stadium.
Because the record belonged to him again.
I was happy as if my own citizen had become a champion. He is still very young and can do better in the coming matches.

Duplantis and that famous Yusuf Dikeç pose.

The only two gold that we have currently from the same person. I am proud of Carlos Yulo, our government should invest more in gymnastics and not with basketball and as well as other sports that we can compete like in soccer too. Hidilyn and Carlos, the only two current pinoy athletes that have brought gold medal to our country. I am happy that I was able to witness their greatness while I am still alive.

We should all be proud of our very won Carlos Yulo, damn, 2 golds in a single Olympics? This is very solid accomplishment for the Philippines and he live up to the hype and thing is that our country is not known to produce a gymnastics and then winning golds in the Olympics.

He is coming home a hero with millions of pesos as incentives and then a good home.

And we have our female boxers assured of 2 bronzes already, but they will continue to go and fight tonight and hope that they can go and win and for the semis, assuring of at least a silver but for sure the aim is to go for that gold.

What a performance for Duplantis in the Pole Vault final.
While others players were struggling at 5.95 he basically was doing training.

After a "decent" 6.10meters he went for the world record attempt and he did it.

I think it is the 9th time he did it, he may go even up to 6.30 from 6.25.

What a legend, another category.

Yeah, no doubt that he is obviously, the kind of the vault and even the number 2 world rankings finishes 4th and so there was an upset here. The number 3 rank won the silver and someone still the bronze from the Philippines although they have the same score.

And then there are this image of pole vaulter who almost make it however with this big "package" hitting the stick, he fell,  Grin.

The drama with the 100 meter though looks bigger to me, and the pressure on Lyles to win against the Jamaicans plus the US basketball team watching as Noah has said something in the past against NBA players so called becoming world champions.

I think now everything is clear about the controversy that occurred in a boxing match some time ago, the IOC, which is the highest boxing body in the Olympics, has stated that the Algerian boxer victory was valid because he was a woman, as well as Angela Carini who was in the match decided to withdraw after receiving a very hard blow from Imane Khalif,  carini, has apologized for the controversy that arose from his defeat, the IOC is the party who knows more about the problem and they have stated that if Imane Khalif has qualified for the next round so I think the controversy should have ended now.

At this time, we should be able to respect the victory achieved by Imane Khalif after her hard work as an athlete and when we who close our eyes to the truth may continue to think of her as transgender, but what is certain is that I salute with Imane Khalif who looks very strong in facing every the bullying he received at this time.
I personally don't really follow the 2024 Eurovision contest, but what concerns me at the moment is the opening of the Olympics which seems to be the worst ever compared to the opening of the previous Olympics.

this thing is a bit ridiculous in my opinion how can you train for four years in a row and then challenge a person who in all honesty is a man or is very similar to one, respect for everyone but they are 50% right because even the Italian who withdrew should have fought until the end, a real fighter doesn't do that and doesn't behave in that way so in that case the fault lies with both!

Did anyone here witness the drama of the Mens Pole Vault and how Armand Duplantis
of Sweden broke his own record?

It was a close competition up until 5.95m between Duplatis who hadnt missed a try
in the competition, Sam Kendricks of the USA and Karalis of Greece. With the bar moving
to 6m it separated the 3 contenders and meant he secured Gold with his 6m vault.

He then moved the bar to 6.25m to attempt to break his own record of 6.24m. This is all
happening in a full stadium and this event is the only thing happening, its the last event.
The drama was building as he missed his first two attemps but landed the 3rd and final
attempt and the stadium went electric.

To me this was bigger than the Mens 100m in terms of drama, expectation and celebration.

Armand freaking Duplantis! Expected great things from him and he didn't disappoint at all. The man keeps breaking his own world records like it's nothing. 6.25m cleared on the final attempt. Special moment!

After this Olympics games, I hope Olympic committee would make some conclusions and boxers as well. I really hope that boxers next time will adopt their training to facing transgenders.
This is a good idea. The people who are supporting Imane in this case are clearly in the minority and they are playing the victim card ironically when her opponents are the actual victims in this context.

Currently the men football semi-final match between Morocco and Spain is being played, both teams have so far shown quite good performances and continue to take turns in attacking their opponents goal, the first half has ended in temporary victory for Morocco with a score of 1-0 over Spain after Rahimi was able to complete his task of scoring a goal from the penalty spot after a serious foul was committed by a Spanish defender in the first half,  In my opinion, today match was quite exciting, even though Spain is known as the favorite team to win, but instead Morocco played very impressively and continued to try to attack with effective attack throughout the first half.
Spain has turned the table around from one goal lost in the first half to a 2-1 victory in the second half. Spain had shown a fantastic performance like they wanted to own this under 23 Men's Olympics trophy like the way their senior team did in the Europa League trophy. Spain would then face the country that will win in tonight's match(France vs Egypt) in the finals. Victory can be theirs

Yeah I was rooting for Morocco always like a good underdog story.  Didn't have any money on it just for fun.  For a while there I thought they might actually take it.  Now at this point probably the best game would be to see France vs Spain.  Would make for a great game on France soil.  Think france/Egypt is still 0 to 0 so that's yet to be determimed.

Spain has once again proven that they really deserve to be called the best country in terms of football at the moment, after the success of their senior national team previously to winning the Euro trophy, now the young Spanish national team has the opportunity to make a  history to winning a gold medal after successfully reaching the final round, the match against Morocco became their most difficult match on the way to the final because Spain needed almost 85 minutes to make a comeback in this match, frrom the start of the match, Spain immediately put pressure on the Moroccan defense and had the ambition to win the match quickly, as the underdog team, Morocco has shown how they also had a very big fighting spirit to be able to achieve victory in this match, but unfortunately they failed to maintain their victory in the match.

The 2-1 victory over Morocco brought Spain to the final round and they will face the host team France later who managed to win 3-1 over Egypt, the match from strength of the two young European football teams is likely to present an exciting match in the final round and just like the senior match in euro, I personally am quite confident that young Spain will also be able to beat France in the final match.

I am so disappointed in Morocco for failing to maintain their leading tonight. They had everything well aligned for them but gave it all up. I was hoping they will maintain their first half penalty goal the way they did until the 66th minute when Fermin Lopez scored the equalizer. From that point onward, it was as if the Moroccans were demoralized because they lost touch of the match and Spain staying doing the playing and eventually won the match from the 86th minute goal of Juanlu Sanchez. Morocco actually tried their best and played very well from the beginning of the competition. It is just a shame that they left without anything.
You'd have to give them credit still. Granted they weren't able to make it to the finals but I think they got third place. They lost to a very formidable side and you could see they tried to reduce the goal deficit several times but Spain were to stubborn to let such a thing happen.
In this Olympics, not many big teams were able to go so far like Morocco did and even though you are disappointed that they couldn't represent Africa well enough, it can be understandable because when you play against Spain, prepare in your mind to be the one to lose and that's what happened.

US finally ended Jamaican dominance in the 100m final thanks to the luck going Noah's way. He was actually lagging behind Thompson for most of the sprint until the ending part where he barely overtook him.

None of them were close to breaking Usain freaking Bolt's WR though. Also, it was great seeing Bobby Finke beat the WR and win gold in the 1500m men's freestyle.
Yeah, it was such a controversial race, I'm not really sure what the rules are, but it seems that the Jamaican feet was in the line head of Noah Lyles. But I guess the rule is the it should be the chest?

But yeah, no one can touch Bolt's record for a long time, he is a freak of nature. Although there are races that he might have lost to Tyson Gay, but during the Olympics, the Jamaicans are untouchables in the 100 meter.
To be fair, most of these are cultural stuff and that's how they improve in the end. Like one nation could be so good at weight lifting that they end up with generations of weight lifters who help the new generation and keep on improving the facilities and the nation would spend more money on them too just to keep on getting those gold medals.

In this case, Jamaica may not be a rich nation, but they are good at running, and they have all the things they need to keep on getting better and better runners, in fact I bet that one day we will have someone faster than Bolt, he was definitely an outlier for the timing, normally humans get faster a bit slower than that, takes a few decades to get there, but eventually I bet that someone will go faster than Bolt for sure.

Why or at least how? Well check human history, all the races, you will see that people started with 11-12 second races, we are now down to 9.78 as the latest one with Lyles, so that shows that we are actually faster even if we do not consider Bolt. That means we will keep on getting faster, we will push human body limits to max, we keep doing that all the time, and we keep trying our very best, and pick the fastest available people at very very young age to teach them and train them hard.

I am sure that either a Jamaican or American will end up with the new world record, it is going to be fun to see it, and everyone will be shocked, but then THAT will be passed one day too lol.

Duplantis takes new World Record from 3rd attempt - 6.25!.
I saw this, the guy is a beast, no wonder he is the world's rank 1 in pole vaulting and he definitely deserves that gold. I was watching pole vaulting because one of our athletes AJ Obiena advanced to the finals(he is the world's rank 2) and I wanted to show support, I was hoping he could get but sadly he couldn't get any medals.

Very happy that my country got 2nd medal in Olympics - Lithuania won bronze against neighbours Latvia in 3x3 basketball. We had no chance in semifinal, but 3rd place is also great achievement. Now women and men final is next - Germany - Spain and France Netherland men
Spain got into football final after beating Morocco, they simply dominate not just in men and women but in youth football too. France - Egypt is playing now and score is still 0:0.
In athletics all eyes is on Mondo Duplantis, maybe we will see another attempt to beat his own World Record.
And in badminton Viktor Axelsen managed from Denmark managed to defend his Gold that he won in Tokyo - it's not common to see European dominating in this sport.

EDIT
Duplantis takes new World Record from 3rd attempt - 6.25!.
