Honestly, I'm really enjoying the Spanish team. I like their fighting spirit and its as if the drive with which the senior boys who won the Euros used have rubbed off on them because imagine coming from a goal down to winning at the moment 2-1 and I'm certain they will not rest to the game is over. They have been an interesting side to watch and there hasn't been a dull moment with them.
Morocco would have won this game had they been paired against a lesser side because they too are not relenting in their attack but this is Spain damnit, so they just have to cave in under pressure.
I am so disappointed in Morocco for failing to maintain their leading tonight. They had everything well aligned for them but gave it all up. I was hoping they will maintain their first half penalty goal the way they did until the 66th minute when Fermin Lopez scored the equalizer. From that point onward, it was as if the Moroccans were demoralized because they lost touch of the match and Spain staying doing the playing and eventually won the match from the 86th minute goal of Juanlu Sanchez. Morocco actually tried their best and played very well from the beginning of the competition. It is just a shame that they left without anything.

Currently the men football semi-final match between Morocco and Spain is being played, both teams have so far shown quite good performances and continue to take turns in attacking their opponents goal, the first half has ended in temporary victory for Morocco with a score of 1-0 over Spain after Rahimi was able to complete his task of scoring a goal from the penalty spot after a serious foul was committed by a Spanish defender in the first half,  In my opinion, today match was quite exciting, even though Spain is known as the favorite team to win, but instead Morocco played very impressively and continued to try to attack with effective attack throughout the first half.
Spain has turned the table around from one goal lost in the first half to a 2-1 victory in the second half. Spain had shown a fantastic performance like they wanted to own this under 23 Men's Olympics trophy like the way their senior team did in the Europa League trophy. Spain would then face the country that will win in tonight's match(France vs Egypt) in the finals. Victory can be theirs

The 100m final was really close, I thought Thompson was ahead but it was Lyles who won. It was an epic photo finish. Thompson had run 9.80 in the semis and 9.79 in the final but it wasn't enough. Actually, looking at the photo, Thompson is in the lead but I guess it doesn't matter that his foot is in front. For 4 years, Lyles will have bragging rights. Grin
That was a controversial photo finish if you ask me, and if we look at the photo itself Thompson clearly got to the line first but for some reason they say the foot can not win you the race unless the chest or something gets there first which is BS!
As a matter of fact, I have seen people win races with their hands but what I don't understand is why didn't they give the win to the Jamaican..whats the difference with the legs finishing first 🤔 honestly trying hard to make Lyles the face of the sport which sacks  Roll Eyes Tongue

In the first half there was a very hard collision with the referee after the Spanish and Moroccan players were involved in a fight for the ball, but accidentally the head of one of the Spanish players hit the referee leg which caused him to suffer an injury and had to be replaced by another referee.
Always wondered if referees do get substituted but it was nice to witness such a situation and of course hope the ref is okay Smiley

I think the best volleyball team of the Olympics is Italy. When we look at the matches so far, I haven't seen a team that played better, we all know their championships in recent years.

Italy is really good and they performed very consistently throughout the tournament but if we talk about whether there are other teams that also have impressive performances at this Olympics, then the answer is Brazil. If these two teams meet, I doubt if Italy can beat Brazil.

Quote
I don't think Turkey played with all their might in this match. If they had won this match, not much would have changed for them. The most logical tactic was not to tire the players too much.

I didn't see China being very good. Turkey is playing better, they are starting to play much better after losing the first set in the match. The points they will find with Vargas, Baladin and Karakurt will allow them to win the next match

We just have to wait until tomorrow, whether your favorite will win or China will send them home.

Is anyone here obsessed with the Paris Olympics 2024 music like me? Am absolutely loving every song that they chose. I particularly like the theme song that they play everytime medals are presented to the winners.

Also, Axelsen defeated Vitidsarn in straight sets to win the men's Badminton gold medal. That dude is a proper beast whenever he plays.

This was probably the most exciting event in Olympics. And this time, the margin was really really close. Both Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson finished at 9.79, but after closer examination Lyles was declared as the winner. Lyles actually improved on his performance significantly. In heats, he clocked 10.04 seconds (coming second behind British athlete Louie Hinchliffe) and in semi-finals also he came second at 9.83s (behind Jamaican Oblique Seville who clocked 9.81s). BTW, no one even came close to the world record, that was set by Usain Bolt back in 2009 (9.58 seconds).

Great 100m race last night, very very close field with 4 runners in a chance for Gold.

Lyles was so powerful though, through 20 metres or so he was last and just powered
home from there.

He was so pumped for that race, when he was announced and made his entrance
it was flamboyant and he was psyching himself up before taking the blocks.

Yes, these are fair questions that have not been answered and most likely will not be answered. It is hardly fair when a half-man, half-woman participates in boxing matches with "natural" women. After all, there is a completely different anatomical structure of the body, a different level of hormones (testosterone). Nevertheless, the administration of this Olympics made such a controversial decision. Perhaps, this will be justified by some kind of "inclusiveness". In fact, there are not so many transgender and similar athletes and you can't make a separate Olympics especially for them. If you make a separate Olympics for each type of deviation, then, I'm afraid, the Olympics will turn into some kind of medical show with elements of sports.

It not just different level of hormones. That Italian boxer took one or two clear punches from Algerian boxer (one clear punch to chin after a pause when she fixed her head protection) and it was enough for her to understand that she is not boxing against woman. She has been boxing against women all her career, maybe had sparred with men, but one or two punches and it is clear that opponent is way stronger. And that strength isnt gained through training, but natural.

Just to light some more fire here. In addition to those transgender issues during Olympics, remember opening ceremony and who won Eurovision song contest 2024. This year the world is surprising us...
I think now everything is clear about the controversy that occurred in a boxing match some time ago, the IOC, which is the highest boxing body in the Olympics, has stated that the Algerian boxer victory was valid because he was a woman, as well as Angela Carini who was in the match decided to withdraw after receiving a very hard blow from Imane Khalif,  carini, has apologized for the controversy that arose from his defeat, the IOC is the party who knows more about the problem and they have stated that if Imane Khalif has qualified for the next round so I think the controversy should have ended now.

At this time, we should be able to respect the victory achieved by Imane Khalif after her hard work as an athlete and when we who close our eyes to the truth may continue to think of her as transgender, but what is certain is that I salute with Imane Khalif who looks very strong in facing every the bullying he received at this time.
I personally don't really follow the 2024 Eurovision contest, but what concerns me at the moment is the opening of the Olympics which seems to be the worst ever compared to the opening of the previous Olympics.

Every year the interest in the Olympics decreases (and this particular Olympics has become disgusting to many due to the opening ceremony, general poor organization and the participation of men/mutants in the women's categories) and I heard that the organizers have seriously reduced the price of tickets because many seats in the stands remain empty.
Today, the good news is that Maguchikh won gold (with a rather modest result of 2.0 meters).

I think it will be fair (but not profitable) to run separate Olympic games for such kind of athletes. Since there are Paralympics games, why those "special" have to participate in men/women Olympic games? Let them have their own competition. Or let Paralympic athletes compete together with other athletes. I know it sounds wrong and it is wrong to say it like that, but they should divide athletes on categories and let them participate among equal opponents.

In most sports there is no division into male and female sports, there is a separate exclusive category for women and there is an open category where everyone can compete. No one forbids women if they want and can participate where now mainly men participate. But the opposite (participation of men in women's competitions) is formally prohibited. Formally because schizophrenics have changed (in their brains) the concept of sex and now suddenly this question has become difficult. In fact, there is no need to invent anything. We just need to prevent biological men/or mutants from competing with women. As it was before.

US finally ended Jamaican dominance in the 100m final thanks to the luck going Noah's way. He was actually lagging behind Thompson for most of the sprint until the ending part where he barely overtook him.

None of them were close to breaking Usain freaking Bolt's WR though. Also, it was great seeing Bobby Finke beat the WR and win gold in the 1500m men's freestyle.
Firstly, I will want to draw your attention to a mistake you made by saying that it was USA's Noah who ended Jamaica's dominance in the Olympics men's 100m final. It was actually ended four years ago by Italy's Lamont Jacobs who won the gold medal in the last Olympics. Yesterday's final was very controversial as both Noah and second placed Jamaica's Thompson finished in 9.79 seconds each but had to be separated by 5 thousandths of a second. It's one of the most dramatic 100m finals in the Olympics but USA at the end won the gold medal.

Any information about this? How many medals have they won so far?
Some athletes from Russia and Belarus are competing under AIN (Individual Neutral Athletes) in 2024 olympic games and they have won 5 medals so far.
You can click here and see AIN's medalists on official website of the games.

It may worth mentioning that AIN is not listed in the official medal table of the games.

Turkey's loss to Italy wasn't a surprise. Italy has been really good at the Olympics and looks like a real threat. But let's break down what really went wrong for Turkey. Their pressure on Vargas was way too high. If your star player doesn't do their job, the whole team falls apart. Wake up, Turkey, and change up your game plan. They should not put all their eggs in one box. Don't forget that they did well against the Dominican Republic, so there is hope. Their game just needs to be more steady and smarter. Our loss serves as a wake-up call. Turkey needs to step up their game if they want to keep in the championship race

I think Turkey did not play impressively throughout this Olympics because many teams were already quite familiar with Turkey's strategy and games, therefore they had prepared the anticipation. It's true what you say, Turkey have quite a big dependence on Vargas and that makes their game monotonous (it was different in the past when Karakurt and Baladin were still in their prime).

Turkey will play against China in the quarterfinals and I think this will be a tough fight for Turkey because China is on fire and although China is also quite dependent on Li Yingying but they have quite a variety of attacks, and what is clear is that China has incredible stamina. If the match has to go through a long rally, then China will have the upper hand.

I think the best volleyball team of the Olympics is Italy. When we look at the matches so far, I haven't seen a team that played better, we all know their championships in recent years.

Hello everyone.
In my opinion, this Olympics is not as interesting as it used to be, but the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games has slightly warmed up the interest in this event.
My only bet, which was before the start of the Olympics, is the gold of the Ukrainian Khizhnyak in boxing, today he won in the semi-finals and soon the final awaits him.
Although the Games should be about elite athletics and worldwide friendship, this year's event fell flat on its face and I'm not only referring to the poor opening ceremony and logistical mistakes

The people ain't buying it, loud and clear from those empty seats and fire-sale ticket prices. It's a terrible tragedy as the sportsmen are beating their asses and personal challenges to qualify at the top level. The truth is that the Olympics are in danger and that this is not a few occasional mishaps here and there. This is a structural problem that has to be addressed honestly. We cannot pretend all is good. If we are to save this institution, we must examine closely what is going wrong and begin some major adjustments

This goes beyond empty seats and poor ratings to include the credibility of the Games themselves. It's about respecting the sportsmen who have devoted their lives to their game and providing them the stage. It concerns safeguarding the Olympic culture for next generations

The Philippines just won its second gold in gymnastics courtesy of Carlos Yulo. He did it first in artistic gymnastics and again in the men's vault.
Prior to Hidilyn Diaz winning gold in the 2020 Olympics, we had a 100-year drought. Now, the Philippines has the potential to add more gold as there are still three hopefuls: two in boxing and one in the high jump.
The Philippines is now leading the medal haul in the South East; the Philippines has really come a long way.
Funny how and this has already been joked around for a while now, that the ones our sports committee pay little to no mind about, are the ones that are giving us golds and silvers all around. Basketball on the other hand while being funded and supported like crazy, couldn't even perform against B-list countries who didn't even have that much care nor love about the sport as much as Pinoys do. Goes to show just how stupid people are in this country.

In any case, not posting this to take away at the success of Carlos Yulo and the folks who really gave us a chance to be noticed in the Olympics, and as far as I know they are getting much deserved praise and love from our government recently. So good for them.

I hope the government of the Philippines will realign its budget and focus. We have been focusing on team sports that are laden with foreigners when, in fact, in this 2024 Paris Olympics, the locals are the ones bringing in the gold and the glory.

Gymnastics, weightlifting, and track and field are not very popular in our country because the government sports commission does not seek talent in these sports.

There was a time when athletes in these fields had to look for sponsors to go abroad for training, and they had to shoulder their expenses, I'm sure after Yulo garnered two golds in gymnastics, many youths will be interested in gymnastics.

Thought I’d add a photo of the current Olympic medal count.  Obviously just posting the top 10 here. China and the United States currently in that lead for total number of gold medals. Both also having quite a few “overall” medals.

It’s been a really fun summer Olympics so far. I do wish we’d have another great sprinter like Bolt to make track and field a bit more exciting, but..we may not have anyone challenging Bolts 100 and 200M records anytime even remotely soon.

Over it’s been fun!

USA - such a powerhouse of athletes, of course they do have the population and
infrastructure to promote top performances.

My country are currently in 14th on 6 medals and 3 Gold. This equals our best ever
medal haul in an Olympics and equals our best ever Gold haul in an Olympics.

We are currently watching the Womens 400m and Adeleke has won heat 6,
we are very much hoping for a medal in the final.
