Italy defeated Turkey 3-0 in the formal match in women's volleyball at the Olympic Games, in which both teams had previously been guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.
The match may be a formality, but in the match where the Turkish National Team could not show any presence, they lost the first set 25-14, the second set 25-16 and the last set 25-21. Although they showed some resistance only in the last set, they lost the match 3-0. The Turkish team did not show any hope for the upper rounds, but maybe there was a lack of concentration. I will follow what they will do in the next round.
Turkey has been playing very badly in recent tournaments. Italy may be very good but Turkey was in first place in the rankings. They lost their rankings with their recent defeats and they could not show any presence against Italy in this tournament. This made me very sad because I wanted to watch my country win a medal. It looks like we will not win a medal. Still, we should congratulate the players. Let's see how far we can go.

Simone Biles is seriously something else. She keeps winning gold after gold at this Olympics despite her issues in the Tokyo Olympics and has solidified her status as one of the GOATS of artistic gymnastics.

On the other hand, we have Katie Ledecky who keeps dominating 800m freestyle and has solidified her status as the best US female Olympian so far. Titmus tried hard, but the gap between them was pretty evident. Legends!

Alcaraz and Djokovic in the final yet again. It's just amazing seeing an injured Djokovic make it to the finals of the Wimbledon and Olympics recently which speaks volumes about his insane athletic ability.

I feel that Alcaraz will win yet again, but Djokovic would still get silver. Both are winners either way and am really excited for the final. Go Carlos! Vamos!

I'm sure we will watch a good finale. Djokovic has always been one of my favorite players, I will support him in the final. To be honest, I don't think he can win, but I want him to win more. Alcaraz's performance is better now. Being an Olympic champion would suit him very well. Everyone likes his playing style in recent years Smiley

I hope to see a close final but as we have seen previously Alcaraz with his impressive athletics skills and young age can again out class  Djokovic in the Gold medal match too.
By close match, the bronze medal match was a perfect example where Lorenzo Musetti from Italy beat Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime by 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Both players played well but Italy won the bronze medal in Men's Single Tennis.

I didn't get to watch the USWNT today against Japan but it looked like a hard fought win.  Saw some highlights and the younger girls are bringing in a new era for the team.  With Smith amd Rodman shining on this stage I can't wait to see the next world cup come through.  Long way to go for them but looking forward to the next game. Think I'm gonna throw some shackles on them to advance.

There is a lot of ignorance regarding the subject, and generally it is misinformed people who only give their opinion based on the big headlines, they don't even read, the issue here is about taking the testosterone tests, they did them in the world championship and she didn't pass them, that's it, she doesn't fight, she goes to the Olympics and the rules are different, nothing to do, she fights, but as they say above, that doesn't guarantee her a medal.

This is not new, I already mentioned it in another thread but I leave the reference of another case, and this one is really spectacular, because she a runner at 800 m managed to win two Olympic medals and three world championships.

I am glad that I am not the only one who feels like this on this forum. it's nasty what the media and people with a lot of influence are doing to Imena Khelif. That woman trained hard to get to where she is and people are dismissing it because of her medical condition which she has no control of. anyway, I'm glad she won again in her most recent fight.

And so another record has been completed, for all the Filipinos here, Carlos Yulo won the gold in gymnastics,

Quote
arlos Edriel Yulo produced a spectacular performance to win the men's floor exercise final at the Paris Games on Saturday, earning Philippines their first-ever Olympic medal in gymnastics.
Yulo's gold medal is also only the second-ever top prize won by the Philippines across both the Summer and Winter Games, and the first in the men's category. Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz struck gold in Tokyo three years ago.

I hope we can also get gold in boxing, Aira Villegas(a Filipino boxer) is guaranteed to get a bronze medal. I hope she can fight her way to the gold medal which will be another record for the Philippines.

EJ Obiena, another Filipino athlete has advanced to the finals in his sport(pole vaulting). he is the world's number 2 in pole vaulting so he is a strong contender, I hope he can come out on top.

Even without much hope, I'm watching the women's soccer championship, rooting for Brazil
With 1 win and 2 losses in the qualifying phase, I haven't even risked another bet on Brazil, I'm just watching
And to my surprise, the team is winning 1x0 against France  Cheesy

I'm having a hard time predicting the results of these Olympics hehehe
Maybe I'll end up with a loss
Though I didn't stake on the Olympics quarter finals game between the France women vs the Brazil women team but if I had to do that, I would've easily gone for Brazil win or at least a draw. The Brazil national team though haven't been consistent and convincing in the ongoing Olympics games but there's no doubt that they have a squad that promises a better result than that of the French team.
The game is in the 15th minute of additional time and Brazil is still protecting their 1:0 and if you ask me, I think they'll protect it till the final whistle

We are very happy for the first guaranteed medal from our champion girl in boxing Imen Khelif. Even though she is in a very bad campaign against her, accusing her to be a male competing in female boxing competition. I'm from the same country as Imene and we followed her records and journey in boxing.
All those accusations are just to destroy her, not accepting a great performance from this country. She is very strong and that's why most people are jealous and accusing her without confirming their information.

To participate in any competition there are many processes and analyzes to ensure that she is a female. As you can read this also:

Quote
The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said on Friday.

The situation is so fun to watch right wingers. They kept saying that it was the birth that decides your gender, if you are born a male then you are a male and just because you feel like a woman doesn't make you a woman. That's literally what all right wingers been saying for a whole decade now, and they have been pretty insisting of it as well. And now there is a woman boxer who was born a woman, and they are trying to say "just because she was born a woman doesn't make her a woman, she has high counts on some stuff!!", well then if she turns to a male, would they consider her a male? That makes sense to them? Lol.

It's simple right wing moronic move and nothing more, she was born a woman, she lost plenty of fights, haven't won gold ever before, and woman do beat her time to time, lets stop acting like Algeria, an Islamic nation, brought in mike Tyson with a wig lol.

End of era of another great athlete - it's last Olympics for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, but she withdraws from 100m semifinal and it's still unclear why.
What a great final in 400m mixed relay - Netherlands were just 4th before lastround, but phenomenal Femke Bol was such fast that she managed to take gold for her country. Now we are waiting for women 100m final.
Qinwen Zheng won gold in tennis, leaving no chance for Donna Vekic. Very well deserved. Mean final will be played on Sunday.
Men cycling road race had interesting ending. After almost 270km race leader Remco Evenepoel from Belgium got puncture with just 2km remaining. Hewasted about 20 seconds to get new bike, but his lead was such big that hestill won race with solid margin.

It's too bad Shelly-Ann withdraw in the race, Jamaica though also misses Elaine Thompson-Herah, who broke Flo Jo's record it out due to a achilles tear. I thought that Sha'Carri Richardson was the clear favorite to win. So I guess this is a sort of upset as Julien Alfred won the gold medal.

That's really unfair, men and women shouldn't box. How did the Olympic committee allow this to happen. While everyone is liking what's happening for their representatives getting their own gold medals, on this category, it's a shame to the organization.
huh? Imane Khelif is not a man, she was born a woman and Identified as a woman all her life, the issue was her high testosterone which is because of the medical she has. Imane Khelif also competed in the Tokyo Olympics and no one batted an eye during that time, I find it weird that a lot of people are in an uproar because a woman who naturally has high testosterone who previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics beat another woman in under 46 seconds.

I don't know much about this, but it's clear to me that he's  a man, he's not a woman, from what I've read he's a trans man, and that falls into the category of men and not Women , Obviously the strength that we have as men cannot be compared to that of a woman, there is a clear extreme advantage, I do not agree that they put men dressed as women in the categories of women, if he is a man who believes himself to be whatever, woman, animal or thing, he has to go in the Category of men, otherwise, a man who believes himself to be a girl will hit and kill a 9 year old girl in a fight of Whatever kind.

I say this with full responsibility, because when I practice my sport as hapkido, when I have to fight with a woman, I only dedicate myself to defense, why? I am not capable of hitting a woman, even though they tell me that they are going to attack me with everything they have, yes, there are some kicks and blows that I receive, but I feel them as if they were a feather, there are other colleagues who do not give it importance and hit them, something that I do not agree with, for me a woman should not be hit even with a rose petal.

Imane Khelif victory over Angelina Carini has now become a controversy that continues to be debated by many people on social media, but as usual instead of finding out more about the truth of what happend actually we immediately swallowed the news raw, now I see that Imane Khelif got bullying from many people who are only influenced by news headlines, I personally previously thought that he was transgender because he saw his very masculine body, but after looking for some facts in the media of course I realized that he was a woman who had XY chromosomes which is usually in men, so regardless of whether or not he is suitable to face women boxing, of course it really depends on the decision given by the boxing committee.

When the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has stated that Imane Khalif is "a boxer who was born a woman, raised as a woman, has a woman passport and has been competing for years as a woman"
In the press conference they held today to answer all the controversies that have occurred,Then who are we to continue to bully and condemn imane khelif as a transgender?
As someone who has also had a career as an athlete, we should be more concerned with the lives of athletes, because there are many experiences that have happened in my country, how a athletes must to end their careers early due to the amount of bullying and insults they receive when there is a controversy that is deliberately created to bring down his career is at the peak, So do we also hope that Imane Khalif and other athletes who have genetic disorders since birth have to end their current careers just because they were born different?

If this so-called woman boxer has a testosterone problem then they shouldn't be allowed to compete in woman category, end of story. Olympics committee shouldn't even discuss this topic so much. But what did they do instead? They just overlooked the condition and moved on. This is a disgrace...  Sad  How can you act like nothing is wrong?

By the way I always believe we should have different categories for all genders. In this way we wouldn't even need to discuss this kind of things. Just open a category for transgender people also and that's it, the problem solved!

if she's a female by birth but only had a genetically stronger system than her fellow female counterpart and had competed in previous matches and has won some and lost some, I don't see a reason why this should be a big deal. While she was allowed to participate, what would have been the case had it been that she lost the fight to a fellow girl? It would have hard less attention compared to what has played out now. I feel her opponent possibly gave up on the fight intentionally and not necessarily because she wasn't a match against Khelif just to get these media talks that's currently going on now. It's also possible that based on the finding of the previous Olympic committee, they had reasonable evidence to disqualify her from participating in the then Olympics and if this current committee feels she deserves to participate, I don't see why she should be receiving this kind of trolling from the media houses.

The point is that there is a separate category for biological women where they compete with each other. Iman Kheliv has a set of XY chromosomes, which means she is a man. In nature, there are many extreme cases of mutations and various deviations from the norm, and such people should have the right to compete with other athletes, but they should do it in an open category (where men compete) and not in an exclusive one where women compete and where you can get banned for elevated testosterone levels.

What a superb Olympics for Evenepoel.
Today he has proven once more time that he is one and it will be on the best 3 in the game right now.
Imagine winning solo by 1 minute and on the last 3 minutes you needed to change the bike for a wheel puncture.

As for the women's boxing match, it was reported that another athlete, Busenaz Sürmeneli (the last Olympic champion), and an Algerian boxer who was in the same category, had previously been banned from the competition by the IBA, saying that it would be unfair competition and sent a letter to the Olympic Committee explaining this. Interestingly, the Olympic Committee did not see any harm in her fighting by disobeying the IBA's decision. The Italian boxer quited from the match in 46 seconds, and thus her other opponents will also withdraw from the matches, thinking about their lives. There is unfair competition in this category. I think that athletes from other countries should not compete at all. Thus, the Olympic Committee may reconsider its decision.

Yeah. Honestly, both players should be very proud of themselves for coming this far and scoring a gold/silver which is obviously amazing while Musetti and Auger will fight for the bronze medal.

Tennis is now close to the end.
Djokovic today won against Musetti and now we have the 2 players that are in the final.
The finla will be Dkokovic vs Alcaraz.
Novak dominated the game winning 2 set at 0 for 6-4 and 6-2.
The final will be Sunday.

Tomorrow we will have the semifinal between Musetti and Felix Aliassime

We have the bronze medal match today to be played between L. Musetti and F. Auger-Aliassime. I am not much interested to see this match but will surely love to watch the Gold Medal match between N. Djokovic and C. Alcaraz. This will be a repeat of the Wimbeldon final and will Djokovic be able to defeat Alcaraz ? We will see.  Wink

Check how these both got to the finals, Djokovic beat Lorenzo Musetti by 6-4, 6-3 whereas Carlos Alcaraz beat Felix Auger-Aliassime by 6-1, 6-1. Clearly shows that Alcaraz is in much better form than Djokovic. Seems like Gold medal here will surely go to Spain.
