Air moves where you push it. It's better to keep the lid for the coordinated airflow.

Heat rises. For those who plan to keep the lid on, perhaps tilt the end of the miner up 20 degrees and allow the heat to rise and flow out the back more naturually.

My point is that the asics themselves may be adequately cooled, so upgrading those fans wont help. But the VRMs may be overheating. On 5870 videocards it was also a lot more tricky to keep VRM temps under control than the GPU itself. Pointing a fan on them or gluing some heatsinks on them may help.

ANyway, that is if this is a heat problem, it could be overcurrent too. Can someone with a KNC measure the temperatures of those VRMs? Or carefully feel with your finger?

Found that they are Arctic F14 140mm.
77.3 CFM / 131.4 m3/h
And 3 pin motherboard connector.

The air moving in and out of the case is not cutting it. So I will swap out those 2 fans with 2 avalon type fans and put them at full speed.

Do what you will, but there are plenty of people running 2,3 or 10+ units with the stock fans. I think swapping fans at this point is just making changes for the sake of changes, similar to putting it in a colder room or warmer room or increasing the power supply. It's not going to make a difference.

Actually my hashing has gone up from 500 to 535 just opening up the case and putting on the fan.

let's have some fun

After 'paid' next status is 'In progress' and this status may last for a week without any progress at all (like in my case).
Then it seems to be status 'shipped' for another few days.

Each day you wonder, do I get a tracking-Id today? - at the end of the day you realize you have to wait at least one more day, and another day and so on....seems to be a never ending story.

Customer satisfaction is something else for sure.

Just so you know, my day1 order status changed from "in progress" to "shipped" even though it's a local pickup and I didn't received any email informing me that my units were ready for pickup. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it. Turns out that misleading "shipped" status only means they are out of the factory and I should expect to pick them up soon.
