Sooo getting back to the kinda Important issue of boards frying. Could those of you with units hashing state what version of firmware are you using and if you encountered any issues. It seems to be v0.92 is the problem. What about v.93??.
I think ill stay on v.90 for the moment eventhough it draws a lot more power

I'm using 0.91.

0.90 power consumption is way to high. there's risk to fuse your PSU (if you have 850W).

using .92/.93 lead to very frequent cgminer restart. something like a restart every 30-50secs.

no the heat sink fans are good.

The problem is the other components on the board itself that need that heat ventilated.

The air moving in and out of the case is not cutting it. So I will swap out those 2 fans with 2 avalon type fans and put them at full speed.

Do what you will, but there are plenty of people running 2,3 or 10+ units with the stock fans. I think swapping fans at this point is just making changes for the sake of changes, similar to putting it in a colder room or warmer room or increasing the power supply. It's not going to make a difference.

I wonder if the airflow was maybe changed by people running them with the lid off? Or worse, fans firing in the wrong direction and fighting the cooling fans? I've seen gaming PCs with a mess made of them by people running them open and blasting air in at the wrong angle and stopping the CPU fans doing their job well enough. More air flow isn't always a good thing if it's not flowing properly and to the right areas.

By the way I'm thinking of running my units in my Basement (ie I'm in Minnesota USA)

I have  a dehumidifier I rarely use....what is a good setting for such for electronics..? like anything over 60 percent or
should I make it lower.....it is not too damp but just to be safe?

anyway for those who've run such with mining rigs in bsmt

thanks

However I am going to swap out the stock fans on the case and instead put in higher CFM fans.

what fans you gonna use instead ie will they fit them heatsinks?
Why would you touch the heat sink fans? They are more then adequate.

so you're going to replace this two fans

?

what is the exact type/model of the replacement you're referring to ?

oh, hosting customers get compensation ...and what's about the rest  ?!

'coz if day2 means week2 one can be happy  Undecided

It's obvious they will never ship everything until October 15th with today's backlog.

yeah I think for the rest of us that we're not day 1 and day 2 orders....it is FIFO and they'd have to go beyond Oct 15th for that to apply (should they choose to apply such)

so with my 304x order it is not applicable to me (from what I understand)

I highly appreciate 4 BTC offered by KnC as a compensation for late hosting (not for me - I don't use the hosting). It is very honest and makes customers loyal.
The late shipments (some by 6 days already) should be compensated similarly.

I came across this last week, god knows about the rig, could be complete twaddle..but the payment model looks a way things could work well for the future. Half up front, half on delivery? http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/prospero-x-1.html

Compo looks fair for the hosted guys, for sure BFL wouldn't dream of ever doing anything like that. I think this is a steep learning curve on the basic logistics for KnC and next time around will be pretty much flawless. If there is a gen 2 and it's worth buying.

looked at the above site musta missed something those  we're up front prices after a discount imho (prob due to knc news this week)...still pre-orders although the price on the 2ph was the same as a current Jupiter for nov 15th delivery they state a feb 2014 ship date

interesting but again did not see a 1/2 down 1/2 on delivery link?

again just saying (I am essentially clueless may have been right in front of me)

Searing

The discount was from the beginning of September (or even earlier).
The "1/2 down 1/2" you will see after clicking at "Payment option" to reveal the list.

I am answering here because it is interesting option for KnC,
but for discussing Black Arrow's offer let's go to their own thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=294197.0;all  (all of it is worth to be read)

I'm not sure if you are taking my words personal or not. I just disagree with you (but enjoy your posts and from memory do think you were always on their side). That said, perhaps I didn't know the full story. Are you saying a September 1st or 2nd delivery? If so then I take back what I said. I thought they said shipment before October, technically even the last day of September would be valid, though not nice.

I still think the 30% or so higher hashrate is pretty huge. (We have to do the math though). But, as I mentioned above, it depends on the due date. Perhaps clarify that before I give my final verdict.  Grin

I'm not sure about the B2B part. I do follow you regarding European companies being held to a higher standard (I'm in Germany and still am shocked by the protections consumers get here. But, much deserved usually.)

At this point, I can't see buying more rigs unless there really is some chance at profitability or breaking even. It is sure a fun hobby and that is as far as I think I may take it. Have to finish and see how my GB's turn out. But thus far, very clearly, it would have been better to just buy the BTC's and it isn't even close. I think the mining market might adjust somewhat due to this, but there are other factors involved, such as preferring to mine over buy and sometimes buying isn't even a possibility...

Thx,
IAS

Yes, I have an order for 2nd day and another one in October which should have been shipped in the first week of October too, according to them. I don't take anything personal here except insults.   Grin
B2B is in general not as tightly protected as B2C but usually you can expect to get your stuff on time, contrary to C2C or B2C, since shipment is one of the most important aspects of B2B transactions.
And simply because that is the case you will find a clause containing some sort of financial incentive to deliver/build/program something on time in most B2B agreements.
I just find it extremely unprofessional to delay shipping that long, whatever the cause, without stating that when called and not offering some kind of incentive to stay as a paying business customer.
In regards to that I do not consider BFL a company at all, since more than a year would constitute breach of contract and/or fraud in Germany...

ANY SATURNS IN THE WILD YET???

Today. staring out the window looking for UPS van.
Who said v0.92 was the BBQ version?? . me scared

Have a check on the KnC forum for what other people have shared about that and other issues. Easy enough to read what's on there as it's quiet and avoid or fix and problems Smiley

I have posted details on my system

Presently running firmware v0.92
With added cooling and without.

Seems the issue is that the case fans are not adequate to ventilate the excess heat that is generated.
