For those who keep saying that they have already missed their ship date I present a question;

If even 1 Jupiter ships before the end of September, then they have kept their word. would this not be a success? Have the bets that have been placed taken this into account rulewise?

http://bitbet.us/bet/472/kncminer-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-october-1st/

5 members of community have to get miners in their homes
so i think it is easy bet.

no chips yet, KNC declaration that chips will be produced about 27 september + delivery to sweden/customs 5 days + production/testing/prototype 5 days + shipping to customer 5 days.
equals 12 october first orders.

That's pretty brazen considering you still don't know the correct spec of the KnC chip.

Yes. You are correct.  In all sense of technicality.

Still, if you're gonna spend 4K on an as of yet non-existent chip, atleast read the specs correctly.

 Wink

I bet we'd all be amazed at the number of people who made pre-orders with no real understanding of what was being sold.

I mean, seriously... wtf?  How you go throw that kinda money around without even knowing the correct spec...  You really think the $800 discount is worth more than the lead time you have over the november delivery?

If you think your miner won't make more than $800 before those ordering today receive theirs then you are mistaken and are getting all huffy for no reason.  Do a little more research before you start spouting off.

+1.

The reason Cointerra are dropping their price like a stone is they have yet to raise enough capital to fund NRE and they are expected to tape out imminently. You have to pay for your NRE upfront to receive your tape out results.

Nonsense. Their first preorder batch netted them some $14M:
http://thegenesisblock.com/cointerra-and-hashfast-sell-17m-of-bitcoin-miners-open-second-batch-sales/

28nm mask sets dont grow on trees, but thats enough to fund at least half a dozen 28nm bitcoin miner designs and masksets.

Yeah, do you honestly believe that?! Roll Eyes

I see no reason not to. Its not in asic vendors interest to exaggerate presales. Quite on the contrary, its in their interest to lowball them as not to jeopardize the value of their next production batch.

But even if they are exaggerating, its unthinkable they didnt raise enough money to pay for their first batch by now, even from preorders alone, and its a safe bet a team like that would have had no problem raising the required capital beforehand. Cointerra doesnt need your money, they, like all other vendors,  do need to lock in sales before people wake up and see where difficulty is headed. But no Asic vendor is cash strapped right now (unless one that would only accept escrowed preorders), the only ones cash strapped are the nail biting miners that sent them bazillions.

BTW, as for their customers, this one claims to be buying 50% of the first batch:
Quote
CryptX has a contract with Cointerra to purchase 1,000,000 GH/s of that company’s 28nm chips. The chips will come from the first production batch, which will be tested on site and shipped directly to our PCB/board manufacturer in Europe. This arrangement lets us keep the time between chip production and boards deployment to an absolute minimum.

It's called saving face. Marketing, they have to appear to be in demand or it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Where are Cointerra's customers? judging by the forum, it's not here, and no one larger will jump aboard without evidence the chip is capable. If they were willing to demonstrate they were willing to assume accountability for their promises, and offer secure payment, like Paypal, as they promised, people may give them more attention. In the interim Cointerra are having their hand forced to start the price war and lure speculation, not investment. They are competing against Hashfast who a willing to lie to raise funds, you cannot compete with lies. Especially lies that remove all recourse, accountability and warranty.

Who's KnC's largest individual customer? Cloudhashing, hardly a significant player. Once KnC demonstrate they really can overdeliver, then there will be a lot more interest from those on the fence, and equity waiting for professional engineers with a working concept.

I would be slightly disappointed that they didn't make it on time. This is nothing. What is something, not a minor something either, is that this would cause the "exponential rise in difficulty" that has so many of you shitting your pants to be largely delayed by that very same period.

Why?

BECAUSE KNC PRODUCTS ARE THE PROJECTED CAUSE OF THE FIRST MAJOR JUMP IN DIFFICULTY FROM 28NM ASIC DEVICES!!!!!!

Damn, peeps! I've watched people bet MILLIONS on something far more speculative and not shit their pants every ten minutes. Grow a pair, willya?

We are already exponential, doubling the network every month, without any 28nm products being deployed. I dont expect this to suddenly stop or slow dramatically as Bitfurry, Avalon, BFL and likely asicminer are still constantly adding to the network. If anything, network growth still seems to be accelerating, and is currently approaching 3% growth per day (which equals x2.35 per month for the mathematically impaired).

That said, if after the BFL and Avalon disasters, you purchased any asic without accounting for the possibility of a few weeks delay, you deserve whats coming. A 12 month wait like BFL, thats reason to get mad, but just a few weeks is actually less than any reasonable person would have expected.

Did the specs change recently on the Saturn or Jupiter? I could have sworn I was getting 400 GH/s but my Jupiter says it is a 200. Has it always been a 200?

Also from KNC's website in the product description it says won't ship until mid November. I thought these were suppose to ship in September unless that means if you order now.

Over 400 pages to read here and now they have their own forum gets crazy. That's exactly what BFL did. Instead of coming here they opened up their own forum. Similar minds think alike?

Jupiter = Minimum of 400 Gh/s
Saturn = Minumum of 200 Gh/s

If you purchase a new one today, it won't ship until November.  If you purchased prior to last week it will ship before the middle of October.

You can take your order number from your My Orders page and paste it into the order tracking search box on the main page to see when your miner is going to ship.

Please don't ever compare KNC to BFL again. You are only making yourself look uninformed and reactionary.

I'm a little confused. I pre-paid back in June and paid $3,975 for the miner which I think was rated for 400Gh/s. Now when I look at their site their Saturn is 200Gh/s and is $2,995. Should I expect a refund in price difference or something here? I could have sworn I was getting 400Gh/s for almost paying $4,000.

Wow you would think you would pay a little more attention to an order you spent nearly 4k on,

I was mistaken about the Gh/s, but not the $800 difference in price. There was really no advantage of me ordering early. Someone that orders now can get a delivery in November and already be ahead of me because of that $800 in their pocket. Being in the bitcoin arena just keeps teaches me lessons every day. At least I'll never pre-order anything again. Hey, maybe I should cancel one of my miners, order another one for less $800? I think I read refunds were available before shipping starts....and apparently that hasn't happened yet.

You can cancel and re-order for nov delivery at the nov price.

You can have your rig cheap, you can have your rig early but you can't have your rig cheap and early.

 I disagree, they have orders listed as day 1 and day 2 for a reason,  if they listed just one order as day one, then maybe, but even  then, they have stated day one and day two orders are supposed to go out in September, so if they just shipped one order it would be a fail,  as for the bets I'm not sure but I do think I remember them saying it had to be confirmed by at least 3, but my memory could be wrong on that one so don't quote me,

No, you ordered a Saturn which was 200GH/s and cost $4k roughly. The 400 GH/s Jupiter was $7k. You will not get a refund since the prices up there now are for Novermber machines.

Now that will screw up your ROI calculations.  Cool

I don't even think it would take that.  Since KnC is hosting for purchasers, all they need to do is have one in the rack on the pool hashing.

I doubt that. Bets I have seen have the conditions of 5 reputable people reporting delivery, and just because something starts hashing from KnC it doesn't follow it's a KnC rig doing so..not that I think they would pull a shady trick like that lol
