2. As shown all three of the positive pins burnt, not just two, as it would if one of them wasn't seated properly

It just takes one to burn out and the remaining two will burn out pretty quickly after that as they take on the additional current from the first burnt out pin. The one making the poor contact will eventually burn if there was some contact at all.

I requested refund before they started shipping which was refused. The fire hazard miner was then delivered weeks late. RMA was refused on dead dies on the grounds that the remaining dies were running slightly over 3TH. To top it all off this is now 2/5 cubes burnt out with 16AWG cables.

KnC have two arguments in this regard;
1. Low quality cables
2. Improperly seated cables i.e. not all six pins making contact

Real world;
1. Clearly not a low quality cable with 16AWG; it's a design issue where each 50w pin is expected to handle >100w
2. As shown all three of the positive pins burnt, not just two, as it would if one of them wasn't seated properly

I have been lucky so far in that my house hasn't burnt down yet.

If *everybody* could post this link on the KnC fourms *every day* that would be good, thanks. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8498317

...and now for lots of nice high res photos:

Since KnC didnt bother to respond to me, let alone RMA, last time this happened; here's some warranty voiding nudes:

(nice to see they wrote "2014 KnCMiner" right alongside the socket so there is no confusion)

Bummer, (regarding tax and customs fees)

I had assumed incorrectly from your statement that it was in the US already.

YMMV
Smiley

Well I am not sure why this is but UPS receives overseas shipments in the US first, then bring them into Canada. Why the can't or refuse to bring them into Canada I am not sure. It's not like Sweden is an American country. LOL

Bought 50MH/s for playing around, payout is fine, but still wondering am I really mining and how could they offer such profitable payout....

Will KNC do some thing to fight GAW? after Zencloud experience I'm start thinking my Tity will become like just a few thousand dollar toy for making fun.

buy silver!
I can stand paying $500 for a Neptune in duty and taxes but not $2100. It has to be reasonable, so I will let UPS process it but if it comes to me with some stupid ridiculous price I am going to have to say NO! lol

I just got off the phone with UPS they say that KNC marked the value my Neptune at $10k, so that would be HST I believe, $1300 plus duty.

thats why i found someone in the states to receive my frankencrappy,  didnt pay very much for broken crap. neppys arent worth 10or13

To date I have not heard of a US customer needing to pay anything extra.

It seems like you are basing expectations on foreign customs/tax laws.

I hope you are pleasantly suprised re:shipping and taxes.
2 Sat. and 1 Nep here, in US, I never paid extra @ the door for package.

Thx for sharing the order and shipping info.

I'm a Batch 0 customer in Canada and UPS charged me a bit over $500 CAD for customs fees. $2100 sounds quite ridiculous, especially this late in the game with difficulty so high. Maybe KNC can mark the Neptunes true current value which I would say is about $5k CAD.

I buy stuff from Ebay all the time, even from places in the states that are the farthest from me. It just depends on how the sender sends the items, they can send with the full price value or they can mark it down. Most companies in the US who sell stuff over the internet either mark the price down or charge you the tax, if they charge you tax it costs you nothing when it gets to your door.

So really it depends on the company who's sending it.

Unfortunately I can't recoup the $12k plus the $2100 for duty and taxes and I am not about to take a loss on a brand new product, so I will take the risk. I have already informed KNC Miner so they are aware and kept in the loop.

I do sincerely wish you good luck with the refund.

Still, I was talking about shipments overseas. US to Canada and vise-verse is easy, as a lot of US and CA companies do that and have experience. But ask a US company to estimate customs charges to EU, or China, or Middle East. Or ask a EU company to estimate customs tax to anywhere outside of EU... There are 193 UN recognized countries... It's simply impossible (or rather very expensive for a company to research) until you, as an end-user, get the bill Smiley

EDIT:
I'm not defending KNC in any way (not after the wait the forced me to endure), all I'm saying is that for any such equipment it would be good to ask how it is being declared at customs and do research for your country on how much you're expected to pay for import. It's not directed at you, it's generic advice for all our miner buddies out there Wink

Pfff... you may return it to sender, but good luck getting a refund this way. A better option, I think, is to sell it (albeit a bit cheaper) quickly to someone who is willing to also pay the customs tax. But still, you should wait until you get the invoice from UPS, you may just slip through Wink

For anyone else receiving this kind of equipment from overseas (doesn't matter in which direction)- most companies can't estimate what you would pay in customs for your units. I had this exact situation last year when receiving from BFL, I had to pay customs for my order when coming from US to EU. Since each country has very, and I mean very complex customs laws, it's more or less unpredictable for businesses even if they are willing to give you an exact quote. And don't even get me started on shipments from China... Depending on where you are, you can pay from nothing to 200% import tax... So always keep this one in mind Wink

I may have to ask UPS to return to sender when my KNC gets here. I just found out from a B1 Canadian receiver they had to pay an additional $2100 in taxes and duties to UPS, unfortunately I can't forgo this as I would not be able to recover this cost.

Actually they count the introductory as Batch 0 ($10,000), then the $12-grand one as Batch 1, and then Batch 2 is Dec-Feb orders again for $10,000. I'm guessing then you're indeed Batch 2. Any willingness to share first three digits of your order number? Just so we know where we're at. I will understand if you don't Smiley

P.S.
I'm 189xx (B2) myself and still not shipped, or even "in production".

Not sure if you have seen this thread?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/knc-miner-list-of-orders-neptune-348957

I am listed at the bottom, the don't list the batches correctly even though I told the OP who doesn't care. Sad

My order number is 172xx

Yes I am a Batch 2 customer.
This is means B2 by KNC's standards as they don't count the introductory offer to their KNC customers as B1 and the next offer to everyone as B2, instead they counted the introductory offer and the offer to everyone else as B1 units, then in late Nov or early Dec they started selling B2 units, which is what I ordered and should be here on Monday, it was shipped from Sweden yesterday. It's already in the US. Smiley

Are you batch 2? There is an ongoing discussion whether KNC shipped anything form batch 2 (here, as well as on KNC forums) like their announcement said, and if you are you would be the first confirmed one.

So what's the latest on connecting PC power supplies to the Neptune's, what is the general consensuses on what we use?

My Neptune was shipped yesterday and will arrive on Monday so I need to get a move on with respect to power. Smiley

Thanks,
