Sri Lanka is playing with an inexperienced team and i have not seen any potential player that could make an impact, if there is any such talents then the IPL teams would have snatched them but till now we have not seen any youngsters coming from Sri Lanka and their major recruit comes from West Indies Australia and England. The board should do something to build a good team if not they will find it hard to play even against lower ranked team.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are perhaps the only two test nations that still have club competition for domestic cricket. And this is the reason why these two nations are faring poorly in international cricket. Cricket remains confined to Colombo and Dhaka respectively, with few other regions contributing. Even Pakistan has now moved to province-level domestic competition and this has resulted in the expansion of player pool. Until Sri Lanka revamps its domestic cricket, the issues will remain. And let's not forget the fact that they have a smaller population when compared to the other South Asian nations.

Sri Lanka don't had any hard hitter batsman and they lost their wickets frequently. After the end of 10th over, I thought Sri Lanka will score above 140 runs. But they just kept losing their wickets. We shouldn't expect much from young and inexperienced players in T20 format. Sri Lankan squad is full with them. It was a easy win for South Africa, they won the match by losing one wicket only.

Sri Lanka 94/6, after 14 overs!
In Colombo, Sri Lanka has started their second T20I match. With Sri Lanka's current run rate 6.7, it would be very difficult for them to reach 140 in the rest of the overs, with regular wickets falling. What is the par score today? You would probably think the same as they did in the first match, but such nothing will happen today. For South Africa, it is a sure win.

If Sri Lanka cannot win in their backyard there is no way they are going to win any match against top teams in the World Cup. I am yet to see their World Cup line up but right now the team looks really weak and i could not see any batsman in their ranks that could make an impact in a match.

Sri Lanka kept making spinning tracks and they are getting trapped and South Africa went on to win the match easily.

The fact that Sri Lanka is one of the two division one teams playing in the first (qualifier) stage of the world cup tells a lot about their recent form (the other test nation playing in the qualifier stage is Bangladesh). In fact I am not even sure whether they will be able to finish at the top of their group (other teams are Netherlands, Ireland and Namibia). The good thing for them is that this time two teams from each group will proceed to the main stage of the tournament. But even if they manage to get in to the main stage, their prospects look weak.

Sri Lankans prepared another minefield and it backfired on them.

The pitches in Dubai and Oman are likely to be more conductive to batting. The Sri Lankan bowlers will get serious whacking there.

Sri Lankans prepared another minefield and it backfired on them. LOL.. imagine Aiden Markram picking up 3 wickets in a T20I match. Anrich Nortje picked up one wicket, and otherwise spinners picked up all the remaining 9 wickets (Aiden Markram, Tabraiz Shamsi, Bjorn Fortuin and Keshav Maharaj). SLCB should prepare good tracks, else this is not going to help them for the T20 World Cup. The pitches in Dubai and Oman are likely to be more conductive to batting. The Sri Lankan bowlers will get serious whacking there.

What is your prediction about Sri Lanka vs South Africa 2nd T20 match? Sri lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. South Africa won the first T20 match. I think South Africa will win today's match too. Sri Lanka lost 1 wicket for 10 runs in 2 overs. South Africa's bowling lineup is good. South Africa will win if they can hold Sri Lanka to 140 runs.

Sri Lanka lost their seventh wicket for 100 runs and lost all their wickets for 103 runs. I don't think it is possible to beat the South African team by collecting only 103 runs. South Africa scored 22 runs in 3 overs and did not lose any wickets. Today's match will also be an easy win for South Africa.

Ben Stokes took his name out from the T-20 WC, Ashes and IPL due to mental health concern.Archer is injured and not playing any tournament this year. Buttler also pulled out of the 2nd phase of IPL couple of months back when he and his wife were expecting their second kid. Jonny Bairstow and David Malan are eying spot in the Ashes / T-20 team so going through 3 bubbles back to back is tough task. Don't know about Woakes. So overall is completely understandable from players point of view.

Still feel bad about Stokes. He was at his peak, and then suddenly he has to deal with issues other than cricket. He's just 30 years old, so hopefully he can make a comeback in next year's IPL and get a few millions of USD in his pocket. Same for Archer as well. He got hit by injury when he was at peak form. In the end, anyway it is the player who needs to decide about it. In some instances they may think that cementing a spot in the national team is going to be more beneficial in the long run, when compared to playing in the IPL.

England players made their decision to pull out of the IPL, i thought everyone would consider the IPL as a training ground to perform well for the upcoming T20 World Cup but Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes has decided not to play the IPL and i am not sure Ben Stokes is having any plans to play the World Cup and hence it is obvious he wont be playing the IPL.

I don't really understand the England players. The decision to pull out of the IPL will cost them huge amounts of money. Ben Stokes' contract is worth $1.8 million with Rajasthan Royals. For Archer and Buttler, it is $1 million and $617,000 respectively. These players need to realize that they will receive these sort of earnings only during their peak period. Maybe after two or three years, they will be able to get only a fraction of these amounts. When they are supposed to play in the T20 World Cup (at the same venue), it doesn't make any sense to withdraw from the IPL.

So you are implying that the team batting first will be winning the matches in the series,
Ideally anyone batting first intends to pile on as many runs as they can. Then, when they either declared or are bowled out and are fielding will want to try to prevent the opposition from reaching the score that they have set.
In Test matches it is true if they could pile up big runs they can declare the innings, i am sure even in the shorter format you can declare an innings but no one does that because the opposition can bat the same way and chase the score if the pitch is flat and not helping the bowers.

Declaration rules apply in only Test cricket (5 days) or First class cricket (domestic, 4 days tourney). It doesn't work in Limited overs cricket T-20,T-10, The 100 balls or ODI.

You were right NZ destroyed BAN in the last T20 match. Bangladesh lost because they were too overconfident that they will win the last match. From the beginning, their bowlers were not attacking the NZ batsmen still they were able to restrict them to 161. Which as per me was not a big score considering the number of experienced batsmen Bangladesh have. Still, they were not able to reach that score. This shows how committed these players are and what level of professionalism they have.
I guess New Zealand should be happy with the overall results. With such a young and inexperienced side, they won 2 out of 5 matches, and that too in surfaces that resembled more like minefields rather than cricket pitches. On the other hand, Bangladesh fielded their most experienced players, and had home advantage. For New Zealand, the next series is the tour of Pakistan (3 ODIs and 5 T20Is), and after that they will be arriving in UAE for the T20 World Cup. Some of the players will be in action for the IPL, which will start next week.

The New Zealand team has performed very well. Even if they lose the series, all personal records are held by New Zealand players. Tom Latham is the highest run-scorer in the series. And Ajaz Patel is the highest wicket-taker in the series. Bangladesh made a spin-friendly pitch at their convenience, yet their bowlers could not take the maximum wickets. This is their failure. I am quite skeptical about whether they will see anything good in the next World Cup.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat in the last T20 match. Finn Allen played a devastating inning of 41 off 24 balls. He has batted brilliantly. My guess is that New Zealand will be able to collect 145-150 runs. Shoriful Islam has been given a place in the team today as a replacement for Mustafiz. He bowled 3 overs and gave 38 runs.
