The excuse being given is that they wanted to give chances to a few youngsters before the squad for T20 world cup is announced. But if backfired on them. There is no issue in giving chances to younger players, but that doesn't mean that they should be used as cannon fodder.
Giving opportunities for youngsters is well and good but first they need to give the platform to perform in their home ground and not sending them to spin friendly tracks and hamper their confidence.
One thing that surprises me is that hardly any of the visiting teams are playing warmup matches nowadays. Is this due to COVID restrictions? It takes some time for the players to get adjusted to the conditions, and for that warmup matches are required.
The big players are opting out of touring some countries is because of the strict protocol they need to follow and it is not easy for the board to conduct warm up matches in these scenario.
