Let's not get into a pump discussion of particular coins. Let's just discuss the tech.
POS3 (rat4)
POSP (elambert)

Good reference. This has helped me keep track of every PoS coin and thus choose one according to my likings. Thanks for sharing this useful information.

Say I was going to ask, is there any exchange available for BTCTalkcoin? I think I am going to grab some cheap coins just to hold them for long term  Grin

re: kinds of POS features
The field is wide and varies.

You have:

-super high inflation 'Hyper Stakes' they create an active staking network but the spot price is wild.
-low inflation ... i personally like the 1-5% rate
-long hold before you can stake
-long confirm before you can spend
-quick to stake, low min. holds
-fixed amount per block rewards
-reduced over time % rates
-FLT did something with money velocity
-block splitting
-heavy memory use (this is kinda like high diff or cost of electricity)
-low memory use, so you can still use the PC/laptop as it stakes
-or super popular coins (likely un-stake-able to new guys)

My personal goal is to find the staking coin that has low interset yield, fast staking, easy staking so if you invest under $100 you will likely be able to stake a block in under 1 hour, fair market exposure, dev, community, web resources, a Kiklo's Premium Bootstrap.dat listing, and maybe an Android app.

Still haven't found that coin yet.

But part of the goal of TALK is to find the best POS coins, if not make it ourselves.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/talk15bitcointalk-est2014yr4-btc-864994

I'd avoid coins that are mostly dominated by staking pools ... 3rd party/hacker risk could cause major issues.

POS discussion wise..

benefits of PoS is defense against rogue PoW hash.
for any "low value" shit coin.. this is very useful to keep the blocks reasonably consistent rather than at the mercy of anyone with a vaguely mediocre farm.

we went with constant block rewards because it is a simple way to encourage more staking inputs.

with many coins, it's more profitable to keep your coins in a single input, quicker to stake meaning higher compounding return.
not good for network Sad
with constant reward it is more profitable to earn more stakes over time than the quick bang .. good for network Smiley

i recall reading some discussion on removing coinweight from calculations, which also encourage more staking inputs .. was that PoS2?

POS3 (rat4)

POSP (elambert)

These are the best yet of the POS systems?

What are the pros and negs of each vs each other or vs vanilla POS.

Also what are the advantage of

POS + POW  vs Pure POS of any kind.

Are their other variations that are as good or have advantages over either of these?

Let's not just hear POS is trash compared to POW. That is not the discussion here. I would like to see if anyone knows which of all the POS variations is best and for what reasons.
