It seems that age has finaly caught up to wawrinka four consecutive losses for him and the last one was today against careno busta, but he was unlucky he faced tough opponents as soon as he was back in form i hope he can recover soon and continue to play tennis atleast for a few more years.
His 3rd loss in the row and he'd always had a tough opponent to play against. So, nothing to generate momentum or give him confidence to keep going. The injuries had kept him out from tennis for a while. He did beat Tiafoe, Opelka and Djere this year though. The first 2 are pretty high quality opponents. 3 wins and 9 losses from what I can see this year.

Ah I always liked Wawrinka, to me he always conducted himself well on court and
His one handed back hand was fantastic to watch. He has had a tough draw since
coming back with a number of first round losses against tough opponents. We should
also consider he is 37 years old, older than Rafa so he is in the twilight of his career.

It could be, I admit I am not reading about it that much but I did read something like he is allowed to play on US Open, but he is not allowed to enter USA, so sort of comes to the same thing in the end. Maybe those are old news at the moment but there is still a lot of time before US Open so it could become a reality again.

Anyway, however you put it, rankings are really unfair for Djoković this year.

I travel for work quite a lot of times to the USA. The current rules are that you don't need a negative covid test to enter the USA but you need to be fully vaccinated before you could enter. So as Djokovic is not vaccinated and if he doesn't have a medical exemption, than he will not be allowed to enter the USA.

As expected Djokovic won the final and now has only one less Wimbledon win than Roger Federer. He is also unbeaten on Centre Court for nine years. He also needs only one more win at the Grand Slam to draw level with Nadal. But as already discussed here, it is questionable if he will allowed to play in New York.

US Open will be really fun - Đoković is again only 1 GS behind Nadal. Neither one of them will be my favorites in the USA though.
As it stands, Djoković will not be allowed to play in USA. That means another 1200 points lost since he was in final last year. And that means that we could have arguably one of the best players in top form ranked outside TOP 10 while we have some really mediocre players ranked above him.

This season is turning to be quite a joke in tegards to ATP points.
Huh Is the vaccine madness still going on? I thought it was over (in my country it is, but we have a special position  Grin ). I respect Djokovic more and more for his adherence to principles. And I am sure that the organizers of the US Open need his participation much more than Djokovic needs the US Open, since he has already proved everything.
Right now nothing is clear about the USA because I am reading on different channels there are increase in cases of Covid19 in many countries, and they are again bringing restrictions which are surely bore thing, but they need safety, so they are not allowing peoples those have not vaccinated, so maybe this is again tricky situation for Djokovic which was stopped from Australian Open even he fly to Australia, but they not allow him it's all dirty politics and can happen again in the USA.

Most chances they will allow him in this USA open because now things are changing, and they also need him in this event with some big matches and having good entertainment as well.

Didn't this covid talk bore everyone enough? Maybe Djokovic would have won 2 more Grand Slams, but they don't even let him play. It's an absurd intervention, as if he was the one who spread the whole virus. Djokovic should sue them. I can't believe that organizations around the world make such unprofessional decisions.
Djokovic will remain a favorite at all Grand Slams he participates in. I hope Nadal returns well from injury and we will watch exciting tournaments again.
What a great tournament we watched while they were both at Wimbledon. If America don't allow him, they will lose themselves. As I didn't watch Australia, I'll skip that one too. Fair play, for everyone.

I thought that this was cleared and he will on US open, still much time to tournament, and with Covid numbers going up, it could change again, but I reall thought that Djokovic is able to play (that i read that about)

nevertheless, it is quite different in US open and Wimbledon/RG, some other players will have chances there, from all tournaments, top3 domination was least seen in New York

This is big shocking news for me and many others those were looking for some entertaining game from Djokovic in US Open, and I was feeling this is going to be tough challenge between these two again as hopefully Nadal could be also set and have his best time in US Open but with this Covid19 rules if he is going to lose this could be surely a big mess-up.

Because, I was feeling now mostly restrictions are ended and peoples can go freely anywhere, but recent new wave of this pandemic is again going to ruin the things which are providing good entertainment for many decades.

Hopefully we will have something positive about this in coming days, which is important for all of us, even new wave is coming very frequently.

is even more absurd the tournament does not make a ban on unvaccinated people. So players who are already in the US territory can play on US Open even if they are not vaccinated.
the two greatest players of all time, and we will be deprived of their matches because of politics.

Why not? Some Covid rules I missed out on?

I don't really think that players care much about the rankings. That is fairly irrelevant in tennis, only the tournaments won count. But the lower you are - the tougher the draws are as well - and I do agree that this season is perfectly showing what happens when politics leads sports.

Djokovic did drop the ball in the first set, but that was more like a warmup set.  He became unbeatable once his racket became hot. Djokovic is going to be a heavy favorite going into US open. Still, 2 months left for it, but I am pretty sure it will be 22nd grand slam for him!!
for now, there is very little chance that Djokovic will win the US Open. he won't even participate.
Due to anti covid rules by the US government, no one who has not been vaccinated can come to the US. Djokovic didn't, and he cannot travel to the US. he already missed some tournaments in that territory.

Maybe you should just bet first before leaving every time?  Grin I managed to bet on each set and was ready to bet on the fifth if Djokovic had not won in the fourth. The game schedule was known in advance and it was obvious that if you wanted to make special live bets you had to be at the computer  Smiley

Which sports betting site do you use to bet on tennis matches?

I usually place bets here: sportsbet.io and stake.com
But the screenshots show that this time I made bets in the first bookmaker (as you can see, I used the bet boost options, on the one hand boost is small, on the other hand it is very felt at a distance). In general, I don't follow tennis, it's just that now there are not enough normal football games, so I decided to have some fun here.

4th consecutive Wimbledon for Djokovic. Kyrgios honestly didnt have a chance. Djokovic is an elite athlete and has kept it consistent over the years with similar levels of motivation. Djoker is against one of the most gifted yet highly inconsistent physically and mentally player. If it was best of 3, Kyrgios has a chance but these Grand slams are a real test. Even though Kyrgios got a bye in the semi finals, giving him more rest days compared to Djokovic. Djokovic has endured and gone through the gauntlet many a times. Just another day in the office for him.

I am not the biggest Djokovic fan but everyone has to admit that he really is the best tennis player by far in the last 5 years or so, even though Rafael Nadal had a very strong period in the last half year or so. Djokovic is totally dominating the tennis scene for many years now and he is basically always the absolute top favorite for every tournament that he is part of and the crazy part is that he is able to live up to that role almost every time. It almost seems that he is losing the first set on purpose because it just happens that often, even against opponents that are no real threat to him.
I think he will dominate the scene for at least 2 more years.

As expected after Nadal forfeited, Đoković won the tournament quite easily.

Before yesterday, Kyrgios had 2-0 h2h against Đoković, winning both matches without a lost set. It all means nothing in matches like these though.

US Open has fast hard court surface which makes it good for big servers and hitters. You can see that playstyle implemented by most of the US tennis players as well. They are all big servers and hit ripping forehands/backhands because that's what the surface demands of them and thats how they grew up playing.

I wanted to place a bet on this game, but I had to leave and when I came back it was already on the 4th set, the odd was @1.40 for in case Djokovic wins the 4th set so I took a few minutes to think about whether or not to bet and then I went to the bathroom and when I came back the game was already over, this was the image I saw after I came back from the bathroom:

-snip-
what makes me more angry is that I could have bet that he would win the 2nd and 3rd sets but I also had to leave and that's why I couldn't bet, I missed good opportunities to win money
You don't need to be angry because the tournament calendar still has a lot to be done. There will definitely be another good chance to win a bet on tennis, I would prefer not to bet if I have to do it in a hurry.

My guess is he bet in stake, the same as the sports betting he promotes.

Maybe this is going to be the weirdest tennis history, to be the Wimbledon champion but his rankings are going down https://www.atptour.com/en/rankings/singles
