Sinner is playing a great tournament, I feel he'll walk over Wawrinka. I see it as a clean 3-0 but I won't be betting on it - Wawrinka is a great player but simply lacks stamina to keep that high level.
This is surely one of the matchups to avoid for me.

Đoković showed his mental stamina once again, the guy is like a robot. Djere was 2-0 up and basically didn't stand a chance.
His next opponent is Borna Gojo, I think I'll play whatever handicap the bookies give me here.

I'm looking forward to Alcaraz tonight, I feel he might struggle against Evans a bit as well.

Djokovic at it again!!

He gives away the first 2 sers to Dere and absolutely destroys him in the following 3
sets 1-6, 1-6 and 3-6, its almost like he does it on purpose to test himself.

Sinner plays Wawrinka later and is obvious favourite @1.13, I might bet on Wawrinka
to go over 34.5 but I believe Sinner will be too strong in the end.

and I might double that with a win for de Minaur against Jarry @1.29 or for Jarry to go
over 36.5 @1.77

Tsitsipas match was not that surprising, but Rudd match was definitely a surprise. And I saw a person talking in this thread that these players do need a lot of luck to perform consistently. This is not an indication of great players to be honest.
We always see players like that, they have the ability but often can't play at the best level of their game, and when playing in big tournaments it's always difficult to go far, and the best thing that Ruud achieved this year was the final of the french open, but apart from that the statistics tell how he is this year.

Big surprise to see Andy out so soon in the US Open and to a familiar foe who he has played against many times and won many times than has lost.
It's not surprising at all because currently he can only play without being able to last much longer, especially in big tournaments like the Grand Slam, even though he has recovered from injury but often that hinders him from returning to his best game.

It's surprising that Djokovic struggled in the third round against his compatriot, but it's not over for him yet and it looks like it will be a five-set match, and if he manages to get through this quite difficult match then his mental comeback will really help him because Djere is in the third and fourth sets experienced a significant decline in his performance or maybe it was because Djokovic already understood how to suppress his opponent's game which was very solid in the first and second sets on rally balls.

Nope, thats Andy out! ah I kind of knew that was on the cards with an opponent as
good as Dimitrov.
Big surprise to see Andy out so soon in the US Open and to a familiar foe who he has played against many times and won many times than has lost. Old age may already be affecting Andy, who look like he has already seen his best days in the sport. It looks like the time for him to retire and give way for the other younger talents in the sports to take over. Andy is not the only big name in the sport to be knocked out, he joins Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud. Novak Djokovic moves to the next round and maybe he will win his 24th Grand Slam title.
Age is a big thing. Right now Djokovic alone keeps up his form and stamina overcoming injuries. Andy Murray quite often gets injured and makes a comeback. However he had been playing good in the lower series. He have got the never giveup mind that makes him continue to play amidst the difficulties. Earlier in the Canadian Open he walked over in the match against Jannik Sinner. The young players are really strong and aren't easy to win. In the past they lack experience, now it isn't the same.
Beyond certain age surely the players suffer injury quite often. Not everyone were able to maintain it in a much safer way same as what Djokovic does. The competence the young players were giving will easily tire the aged ones. Andy Murray could take rest announcing his retirement, if not he can spend time playing 250 masters were the competence won't be that big.

I was just watching the match of Hurkacz vs Draper. After the Cincinnati Masters match against Alcaraz his play have grabbed my attention. In the first round he played against Huesler and won the match after losing the first two sets. Now in the second round similar kind of game as the first round is happening. Hurkacz have lost the first two sets against Draper and now third set is going on.

Edit: This time Hurkacz have lost the match 6-2 6-4 7-5

Yes, Hubi is not in great form in New York.

Watching Murray v Dimitrov atm. Things are not looking good for Andy: Grigor is up a set and 2:1 in the second. Andy lost the first set 3:6. Let's see how this one's going to play out.

Nope, thats Andy out! ah I kind of knew that was on the cards with an opponent as

Following on from my post about Sinner v Sonego but it was a win in 3 straight sets for
Sinner as expected.

Berrettini gave Rinderknech a walkover after 2 sets, not good news for Berrettini with
this new injury and is not very lucky.

Dimitrov just destroyed Murray. Murray started finding form before but now he losses again on the bigger tournaments. While Dimitrov is playing nice always comes to quarters or reaches something more. Too bad for Berrettini i was thinking he was gonna go far but just dosent have luck with those injuries

Yes, a talented player - but with incredible swings in consistency. Same as most other top 10 players - Rune was last year's finalist and is already out of the tournament.
That's not how these guys will be able to challenge Alcaraz, currently he's on a highway to stardom due to the lack of serious competition.

How it will develop in the future remains to be seen. But I do not think the gap will become too big.
What is in any case remarkable in New York is that Djokovic benefits better from all the defeats than Alcaraz. Ruud, Rune and Tsitsipas were all in Djokovic's half of the opponents. Alcaraz on the other hand has still more stronger opponents to face off.

Vaskiy, Recently, we have definitely watching some results that we generally do not expect. This was another result like that in my opinion. Draper did not even give any chance to his opponent. Hurkacz was unable to get even one set in this match. That was actually more surprising for me. Because I thought he was definitely going to get at least one set for sure. That was when the match was going on. Before the match started, I definitely thought he was actually going to win. But we all know how this match ended in the end.

No more surprises about Tsitsipas from my side. The guy is a one-surface player (no matter the AO final), and all the stars have to align for him to play his best tennis.

Yes, a talented player - but with incredible swings in consistency. Same as most other top 10 players - Rune was last year's finalist and is already out of the tournament.
That's not how these guys will be able to challenge Alcaraz, currently he's on a highway to stardom due to the lack of serious competition.

For any player to challenge Alcaraz, they will have to be playing the best tennis of their life on any given day. They cannot just need to have the stars aligned and have the best luck in their life to play the best tennis if they want to actually beat Alcatraz. They will have to perform whenever they are asked to. Tsitsipas is definitely struggling a little when he is asked to perform well against big players regularly.

Surprises were part of tennis and this is one of the match. There is expectation from Tsitsipas and this time things didn't work well. Play three tie breaker set could've made both of the players get tired, because everything went close from the beginning. Only the final set had a better lead. Dominic Stricker who made a great win doesn't perform in a consistent manner in the next match which is the disappointment from these players.

It seems that this year has not been a good year for Tsitsipas' career, this year he has only won 1 title atp the 250 tournament, and Yesterday's match was a very balanced match, and the third set when he managed to excel did not continue to watch this match because I thought he would have easily taken the fourth set, but the final score presented something else.
Next up is Stricker who will face the unseeded players as well and I think it will be a tough match too, if he manages to keep up his form maybe he'll be the one to make it back to the next round

And the latest surprise was Casper Ruud losing to the unseeded tennis player from China Zhang Zhizhen, in the fourth set when Ruud managed to win the set without giving his opponent a chance to get even 1 game, it seemed like it would be easy for him to get the fifth set, but in the fifth set, Casper Ruud looked very frustrated and failed. This is his bad record because he was a finalist last year, and Zhang Zhizhen is a pretty good player and he has weapons when facing top players.

The last match was definitely very close. First of all I thought he was definitely going to win the match before the match even started. But towards the end of the match, I definitely started having some doubts. The match did go on for a long long time. I actually did not think that tsitsipas will actually faced so many problems trying to win this match, let alone losing it.

Tsitsipas match was not that surprising, but Rudd match was definitely a surprise. And I saw a person talking in this thread that these players do need a lot of luck to perform consistently. This is not an indication of great players to be honest.

A really close match between Tsitsipas and Stricker. Each of the 4 sets was hard fought and currently it looks better for Stricker in set number 5. 5:2 for him. Who would have thought that the number 128 from Switzerland would possibly beat Tsitsipas?
And for Djokovic, it seems that Round 2 comes to a fast end.

Edit:  Stricker won the match.

Yeah, Tsitsipas is out of US Open early. Unbielivable, but it's a fact. Young Swiss guy Dominic Stricker left the Greek no chance. It's the first Top10 win for a 21 yo Swiss who looks like a bit overweight farmer boy but plays like a tennis god!  Grin

Final result: 7-5 6-7(2) 6-7(5) 7-6(6) 6-3

TBH I'm not surprised with that result, when it went to a 5th set I had my doubts.
Imagine Stricker had odds of 8.0 just before the 4tg set ended but I didnt take them.

The Italians are back in action today in the second round action, Sonego v Sinner,
Being seeded 2 its hard to bet against him @1.14. Maybe Sonego can take a set
from him?

Berrettini is also in action against Rinderknech @1.21 maybe too Rinderknech can take a set?

What a match!
More then 4 hours of heavy battle with the Greek players always favorite in the first part of the match.
US Open isn't his bet tournament for sure... and option cashout it's always a suitable option Wink

Exactly. In New York he always had problems and never got further than round 3.
This match was really worth watching. Stricker fought off several match points and in set 5 he realised that he could do it. It was really cool when he sang the song "I wanna dance with somebody" from Whitney Houston during his last changeover.
