New Zealand made 235 in the first innings and then making only 174 in the 2nd innings wasn't any good batting display. It is only that Indian team have lost the test, everyone is looking at thier batting performances and not really talking about the same New Zealand poor batting. We usually forget the bad performance if the team have managed to win the match somehow.
Do you really think that the Kiwis batted poorly? Remember that it was a dust bowl and spinners were having an undue advantage. On top of that, India had some of the best spinners in the world right now in their playing XI (Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja). Despite all this, New Zealand managed 235 in their first innings, with Will Young and Daryl Mitchell both getting half-centuries. And in the second innings it was the turn of Will Young to take the Kiwis to a respectable total.
No doubt Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are world class spinners but they did took the wickets and played their part. Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets in the first innings and 5 in the 2nd innings. Along with him Washington Sundar took four wickets in the first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin also played his part and took 3 wickets in the 2nd innings. If India had won the match, then we might have Ravindra Jadeja as the player of the match as he took 10 wickets in the game.
Are you blaming the pitch alone that caused batting to be unplayable and the whole team got out at 121
Remember it was the same pitch where Rishabh Pant was batting comfortably. He made 64 in 57 balls only.
