Ngannou not likely to sign another contract with the UFC, unless they give him a hefty pay rise. Wonder how Dana will handle it, if he gives money to Ngannou, he'll need to give it to other fighters also, which could open a can of worms.

But what's the alternative for him? Sure, he could go to other promotions, but that doesn't mean he would get any more money and he wouldn't be the champ anymore. Also, UFC never seemed to really care about him being champion, i always got the feeling they didn't know what to do with him (marketing-wise), so I doubt they will make any moves towards pleasing him. I mean, what's the track record of UFC losing big names due to not paying enough? Not that much, unfortunately (for the fighters)

I'd like to see a pay restructure since most fighters on the card are criminally underpaid when you compare it with other sports, and we've had this discussion before about MMA fighters needing to pay higher fees than boxers due to learning multiple disciplines.

I can't believe this odds I see now on Francis N'Gannou to win against Ciryl Gane!  Shocked
I know both of them are great fighters but giving N'Gannou role of an underdog  will just make him want to win faster to prove everyone wrong.
Dana White is not in good relations with him and maybe he would want to see Ciryl Gane as new champion of heavyweight division...
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/mma/ufc/ufc-270-ngannou-vs-gane/ngannou-francis-vs-gane-ciryl-619df136e5327bf6e886778c
Weird, every other gambling website I've looked at had similar odds even the local bookies has it at similar odds. It's only Sportsbet that's got Ngannou as a favourite. Everywhere else I've looked its currently around 2.25 for Ngannou, and 1.66 for Gane.

I guess with Ngannou and Gane, one of the reasons why was that leaked tape showing the sparring session the both had at MMA Factory, Ngannou’s former gym.   If anybody finds a YT clip feel free to post it itt.
If its the same tape I saw I'd say that put Gane in a more positive light than Ngannou, right?

That's all good, and if he's still not feeling well he shouldn't rush it and put his health / Life in danger. However, That still doesn't explain the fact that the UFC acted abruptly and hastily, at least from what we can see in the media. Anyway, If he returns, I am hoping it's in good health. But Who will they put him in with, he's not ranked anymore, can he just leap over a bunch of others that were present for the past few years? Interesting situation...

I really don't know what might happen to him when he returns to the UFC, and what kind of excuse the UFC might think of in taking his rank away, maybe there are some rules that weren't disclosed to the public, or people doesn't realize that there are rules like that, but anyway, if he's going to return and without any ranking at all, then he sure need to start back in scratch, which will be something that might happen to him,

I wouldn't agree on that one, saying that Giga lost solely because of his inadequate cardio. That's just taking a lot away from Kattars performance. And I honestly think that even with Giga's cardio issues, Kattar still outclassed him with technique.

In my opinion, Giga Chikadze was dominant with striking, and with their stand exchange, you can definitely see that in the first round, but the moment he just showed an error Kattar saw this opportunity to get on a takedown and it is a good move for him, and I surely give him credit in exposing Chikadze's weakness (well for most strikers wrestling is surely their weakness) and strikers tend to fatigue very fast when it comes to a ground fight, Giga Chikadze is struggling to defend any submission Kattar do to him and this makes him fatigue even more, and my verdict Calvin Kattar is lucky to pull something like that, to Chikadze, but Luck, patient, and technique is pretty much needed so I am giving that to Calvin Kattar aswell,

And on to UFC 270 were I am most excited about.

Yup, it’s prolly another case of the MMA betting market being irrational again.  Just like what happened last week with Kattar vs Chikadze.  Everyone both sharps and squares were big on Chikadze.  And it’s unsurprising really, esp how Chikadze finished Barboza in under three rounds.

I guess with Ngannou and Gane, one of the reasons why was that leaked tape showing the sparring session the both had at MMA Factory, Ngannou’s former gym.   If anybody finds a YT clip feel free to post it itt.

Just one blow from Francis, Ciryl will be over. All he needs is just one and you can double your money. One uppercut like he did to Overeem would be satisfying.

Since the Ngannou was defeated by Miocic, Dana White and Ngannou relationship had deteriorated. There were speculations that Dana will not give good pay to Ngannou even when he can entice more people for the PPV with Jon Jones heavyweight come back. They are just rumors though.

"Just one blow from Gane, and Ngannou is sleeping" Cheesy

I saw rumors, Ngannou said that 600k for the fight is not enough for him. As Welsh said, PPV prices raises (ESPN raises UFC pay-per-view price for third time), greedy Ngannou can perform a rat move and blackmail UFC for increase or he wont fight. Somehow I am expecting something bad from Ngannou.

I also expect Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo getting his belt back. I think Moreno is unstable in his fight. He has lost his first in ufc tournament of champs and was kicked from the show. Then he replaced another guy and won. After he had 3-2 record in UFC and they did not offer him new contract. He returned and had 2 draws and 2 win with decision. He does not look a fighter with stable record. He is not convincing champ imho.

I'm getting odds at 1.67 for Gane now. Wish I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago when it was 1.90 each. Thinking its worth just putting a bet on Ngannou now for the knockout. Ngannou is priced at 2.30 for the win, while the knockout is 2.50. Considering I can't see any way that Ngannou wins this other than knockout that small increase for the TKO is probably worth it. Disappointed though, as I wanted to bet for Gane at 1.90, and whatever the outcome then I would've been satisfied.

The one we all have been waiting for, what more can you say? If you are a UFC fan defiantly a must see card from California. The NGANNOU will destroy the Frenchman, within two rounds.
One thing for certain is Ngannou will be getting his face boxed in by Gane's superior jab, and movement. So, if he's going to finish it he'll need to do it early, since he carries a lot more muscle, and muscle requires a lot more energy to keep going. At the pace Gane will set with his movement I imagine Ngannou will be getting tired very quickly on the night.

MORENO VS FIGUEIREDO
Round 3 the first two, were exceptionally amazing fights let's see if the Mexican can hold onto his belt..I expect thrilling five round display.
SPIVAC VS HARDY
Heavy weights fight of the night, this fight would not last long, with the hard punches expected, don't blink.
PEREIRA LIMA VS FIALHO
Knock out of the night for sure. Pereira may showcase a knockout or submission that we have not seen before, he is a very dangerous individual.
Nurmagomedov's brother will be fighting at bantam weight so look for khabib on the sidelines and expect some nice grappling from the Russian.

I find it strange, as there are other fighters who want title fight. Like Askar Askarov. He is on a series of 3 wins in UFC and has 14-0-1 record. Only one draw and to Moreno. But they are not having a rematch. Hard to understand UFC logic.
I wasn't surprised with the first rematch since it was probably one of the most entertaining fights for a neutral. Moreno, and Fig were perfectly matched in the first fight, Moreno adjusted better in the rematch, and I guess Dana just wants to make the most of both of these fighters in their prime delivering good fights. Means more money for the UFC at least.

Didn't Dana announce that PPV prices were going up too?

I wouldn't agree on that one, saying that Giga lost solely because of his inadequate cardio. That's just taking a lot away from Kattars performance. And I honestly think that even with Giga's cardio issues, Kattar still outclassed him with technique.
Definitely wasn't the reason, it was a contributing factor to the fight though. Although, and I hate to do this again, if you consider Conor regarded as one of the best fighters in his prime, but has always suffered with cardio issues, so it can be done with poor pacing.

Kattar's elbows were nothing short of brilliance that night though.

Well, it is almost 2 years now and I really miss Zabit Magomedsharipov and his long surname, but yeah it is always health issues, and I think because of inactivity of almost 2 years the UFC has decided to take him out of the rankings, well maybe that is the reason, and we can see from wiki that on September 2021, Mark Henry announced that Magomedsharipov would be returning to the UFC soon, nothing more and that is the last time we have an update about Zabit Magomedsharipov,

Here is the last post of Coach Mark Henry on October 17 2021 about Zabit Magomedsharipov and his brother Khasan Magomedsharipov, on a wedding day, congratulating them, and from my point of view I think that Zabit Magomedsharipov is not feeling well, and is still recovering from something, well this is just an observation regarding the photo and the way he stands,

That's all good, and if he's still not feeling well he shouldn't rush it and put his health / Life in danger. Guys, I see many of you here haven't made their predictions in the UFC Vegas 46 Multi Master Challenge thread. It's free, guys, so, why not? Wink They are giving away nice prizes in the form of free bets.

Most of the people there bet on Giga Chikadze and Katlyn Chookagian, and it's understandable looking at the odds, but I decided to try my luck with betting on the underdogs. Not in my every pick exactly, but in most of them. I know my chances are slim, but we'll see how it turns out. Anyways, don't forget to make your picks, guys. There's not much time left.

I keep on forgetting jeremypwr’s Multi Master!  Anybody who remembers, please post it in the thread. I’ll give merits if I have them.  Thanks.  Smiley
~

I will try to do it. Who but you, guys from this thread, should take part in that challenge, in the first place? Smiley

Giga Chikadze face was destroyed after this fight with Calvin Kattar and I didn't expect to see this outcome, but that is the beauty of MMA.
I think that he started good this fights but we again saw how strong weapon elbows can be in this sport, they can cut you like a razor.
~

They say Giga lost because of his bad cardio, and it looks like it was definitely the case. It's quite hurtful when you lose not because your opponent has better technique than you, but by reason of your physical condition, but that's what often happens in sports.

Lets get back to UFC 270. Brandon Moreno vs Deiveson Figueiredo. I remember Brandon from Tournament of Champions tv series. It was aired several years ago, and now he is a champion. Now he is facing Figueiredo, for the third time. Figueiredo - former champion. He has lost to Moreno year ago via submission. It was a clear win, but they are having a rematch. I find it strange, as there are other fighters who want title fight. Like Askar Askarov. He is on a series of 3 wins in UFC and has 14-0-1 record. Only one draw and to Moreno. Well, Kattar definitely did look hurt for period of that first round. Though, after that it was a landslide. Tokeweed pointed out his questionable cardio before the fight even happened. He just seems to get too excited, and spends himself in one flurry, which will cost him in the future too he doesn't sort that out.

The thing is he's clearly a talented fighter, that could potentially go on to compete for the belt if he put his mind to it. Although, considering his age, and his current mentality of looking beyond his opponents its not likely to happen. He needs to work on his fight IQ, and that includes spending his energy much more intelligently than he did on the weekend.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Kattar vs Chiga rematch. It was entertaining, and I'll be honest I'm a little curious to see if Giga can adjust or if hes reached his ceiling in terms of potential.

I always forget about how long Chikadze has been around, and no doubt before this fight he was considered one of the better fighters. Although, I actually think his recent claim to fame has been challenging Alex Volk, and a bunch of other fighters which are clearly out of his league. I'm wondering whether he suspects its his only chance to get a belt, because times running out for him age wise.

I only looked at Chikadze's age the other day, and I just checked again, and I'm still surprised. I don't know why, it just seems like hes a younger fighter than he is.

Real question for Calvin Kattar is who will be his next opponent in this featherweight division, other than champ we have four names ranked higher than him:
Max Holloway, Brian Ortega, Yair Rodriguez and Chan Sung Jung.

Definitely not Max Holloway imho, as he fought him before Chikadze. There is a 1% chance he will fight Holloway, because this fight was year ago and got a fight of the night award. Maybe UFC bosses will make a rematch. Max is top1 now, perhaps his next opponent will be Ortega, and the winner (Max) will face Volkonovski. It will be Max third fight against Alexander. And Korean zombie will fight Ortega next.

^  Wasn’t Zabit removed from the rankings due to inactivity then eventually released from his contract?  I think I’ve read a tweet or an article somewhere.  But yeah..  The event wasn’t as good as I thought it would be barring the main event which didn’t disappoint.  Well I was disappointed with the result.  Lol.   I really thought Chikadze was on his way up.

Time to move on.  Next event looks parlayable but the dogs are barking at the main and the co main.  Ngannou now at 2.20 and Fig at 2.48.

There was something along those lines. He was definitely removed from the rankings, at least at one point, but I am not sure he would be let go of his contract, especially as his last fight was in 2019 and he had health issues. At the time of his being removed from the rankings it was a year and a half of inactivity, and honestly, especially it being for health issues, I don't understand the move on UFCs part. Maybe him being nmb. 3 in the division had something to do with it, but still...

Anyway, his coach reported that he's back with the UFC so things can still get booked...
