Yeah, buddy. Shouldn't have even thought of that, yet alone posting here. Don't write anything on the internet you're not prepared to get ridiculed.

it's your choice but personally I don't like the idea and the fact that your daughter will be linked to this name throughout her life, and possibly made fun of at school in the future.

Yes, but what LostDutchman is saying is that we still convert (in our minds) to USD or EUR to give BTC prices. This is because Bitcoin's value has changed very quickly and we as humans can't cope with such unstability.

Well, you and I are almost on the same page!

The problem with crypto is that it cannot be used at 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999% of the merchants or services on the planet so it must be converted to something that is.

I am not seeking to change the World, I am not trying to bring crypto to the masses; I am only and I repeat ONLY trying to make money!

[...]

Regardless of what anyone says, it is really ALL about the money and by "money" I mean dollars, dinars, drachmas, rubles, rupees or pounds fucking sterling.

UNIVERSALLY SPENDABLE STUFF!

My $.02.

And that almost is where we diverge. I know that currently Bitcoin cannot be used on its own, but I firmly believe that as the system matures and more and more people get to know it, it will become stable and thus will be usable everywhere in the world, and without having to check USD/BTC price every 5 minutes.

I don't seek to change by BTC back into Mexican Pesos, but rather to spend them directly.

I'm of the same belief. I think the system will mature and will be more accepted publicly. As someone else has pointed out though, at least immediately, any shops or online stores will likely cash straight back to fiat when they take Bitcoin. So not sure how the price will be affected by more adoption.

My $.02.

No one cares about your cents and dollars round here.

You should because crypto has no value unless converted to real-world or "fiat" currency.

My $.02.

Wink

false.

you can buy goods and services directly with crypto, without ever having to involve "fiat". its a currency in of its own.

Mining BTC is an exercise in futility, so I mine LTC (And occasionally other scrypt), convert to BTC and then SELL OUT for good old US DOLLARS!

I keep some lying around for speculation and reinvest a substantial portion of my cash proceeds into more scrypt mining equipment.

I like big BITS and I cannot lie.
To reiterate what everyone has said. Don't do this! Not sure what it would be to achieve. Yeah it would get media attention maybe but it wouldn't have a huge pact on the bitcoin economy if any. Don't do it to her. You will regret it.

I disagree, I don't think it'd get ANY media attention outside of new sites. It would have gotten media attention last November, but not now.

Either this forum is full of trolls and incredibly gullible marks, or this forum is full of total morons.  I hope it's the former.

Drop out of college with your 0.5 bitcoins so you can watch your "investment" grow, then go knock your cousin up and name the incestual lovechild dogecoin!  Good idea.

By this time next week, you'll be able to live happily ever after on your yacht with your sisterniece colgate and daughterwife dogecoin after your 0.5BTC becomes worth infinity dollars.

He probably doesn't even have a wife! This could all be made up for all we know.

Do it, your bitcoin holdings will double without you spending a dime.

I think the reason the OP has received no donations is because he is only "thinking" of naming his baby girl "Bitcoin".  The ultimate name he chooses is up to him, so I don't see why anyone should donate for the guy to name his daughter "Jennifer".
I was joking there. He said he has accumulated a little bit over 1btc so with another bitcoin he will have 2 bitcoins Grin
