Why would someone hand their Bitcoins overt to them and then pay $15 a month?

Probably for the false sense of security  Grin

My guess is, one of the reasons would be the term "bank" which is a more familiar concept to people. But because tons of people don't read the fine print, they probably don't know none of their crypto deposits are "insured" the same way fiat deposits are in fiat banks so all that's left is an unnecessary subjection to KYC/AML policies.

Going totally against the main principle of Bitcoin. I was curious, so I checked out the site, I haven't laughed this hard in a while  Grin

The last I remember, people's Bitcoins got locked up in the custodial wallets, and they had no way of withdrawing it. The support wasn't helping either. If anyone decided to use that service again after all those complaints, that is on them.
Well, Xapo service exists for so many years, so probably their business model works, despite how strange it may look for us.
Now I went through old comments on this topic, including mine and it's difficult to find good words about Xapo. Seems that in these 6-7 years they not only didn't become better, but turned only worse.

Now I see that Xapo turned into Bitcoin bank and users of it have to pay $14,99 monthly fee. Not cheap at all, wondering what users are gettimg for such money.

Anyone still using xapo nowadays?
Damn, I already forgot that such service exists, I haven't hear anything about them for so long time. Last post in this topic was made in 2018 or 6 years ago - I kinda doubt that we have many active Xapo users here. In past it was custodial wallet popular among faucet users, but in general as I remember there was no any important reasons why someone would have to use Xapo instead of other Bitcoin wallet.

I created Xapo account about 2 years ago when some bitcoin faucets payed double rewards for Xapo users. I want to withdraw coins and stop using Xapo. Seems they secure me from my account.

I have only my old mobile phone and I don't want to buy a smartphone. How can I login?

Then how did you create your account if you don't have any android/ios phone? Are you from the group of people who created an account a long time ago but also haven't logged in recently?

It would be best to explain what happened in details.
Some time ago (last year or even earlier) it was possible to create an account using a PC and a normal web browser, and the 2FA that time was the 6 digit temporary code via SMS.
Last year Xapo has removed SMS, because of some reason (if I remember well, it was something about SIM card cloning or SMS hijacking) they introduced the XAPO app code, which changes in every 30 seconds, and you can log in only with this via the web browser of the PC.
So now if you don't have a smartphone, you're out from the service....

Xapo is the web wallet I like the most, especially now 2FA connected to the smartphone so I'm sure and never hesitate to store large amounts of bitcoin in Xapo, in addition fees are also very cheap compared to other web wallets.
I wouldn't recommend to store large amounts of BTC in Xapo, despite that they have such kind of 2FA. Still, you don't have full control of your BTC. It's possible that they can lock funds of users, they site may be hacked and theorically it's possible that they can into scam.
And when I used Xapo last time, their fees were much bigger compared with other wallets. And Xapo doesn't allow to set custom transaction fee, you only can choose standard and high priority fee.

Without smartphone - mission impossible...

Yes, I'm an asshole
Some would say that keep submitting tickets will have an opposite effect, namely keep pushing your number to the latest[/i ]on their queue. Although, I will also have an urge to submitting tickets if I were you, as we never get an answer and we didn't know how long would it be resolved without submitting a new one.
It's basically a lose-lose situation.
Hey, if you keep spamming us we will put your ticket on lower priority, in the meantime please wait a reply from our Customer Representative that might take you months.

Its not only Xapo most of bitcoin related sites have this problem I submit ticket on poloniex and its almost more then two months never hear back from them about my deposit issue now not using this as its really very poor customer support from them same happen here on Xapo I never use this as have some problem with my deposit
It's because lack of regulation and consumer laws in Bitcoin Company.
They can put and hire the shittiest customer support system and no one can do anything about it Roll Eyes

Although it is ironically true, that the action looks awfully like an evasion from their obligations, most help desk seems to apply this method. Polo and trex are also applying this, if I am not mistaken.

Yes, I'm an asshole
As previous comment, useless. I have sent emails almost every day, no reply.
No official reply since 21 March.
Xapo are pretty much out of touch with their customer.
They used to reply here but now they've abandoned it completely, their Twitter are pretty much dead.
Worst is that they don't put more effort on their customer service despite that they've decided that Email are the best way to reach their customer Roll Eyes

Unfortunately for you, you can only hope for their Customer Service to reply to your email someday.
I've had a fair share of my problem too with Xapo, it was a problem with my account and I had to wait a week for one short reply from them.

Yes the reply I received from the was: we will look in to the problem and let you know or we will transfer your case to the other department.  Huh

Useless, I received no official reply since March 13... My account still locked, my coins unavailable.
Xapo, do something about your customers !

You will have a better chance of getting a solution by emailing them than writing here. This thread is no longer attended by the team.
