Price falling after ICO have become the trend and I think maybe it's more advisable to buy coin after the ICO
Sometimes it's not bad to buy during ICO, in my opinion i think undergoing a deep study of the project should be done first because there are coins that performs well in the market once get listed especially those alts that gathered a lot of funds during ICO and getting listed with one of the top exchanges. what i mean is there are alts that doesn't fall automatically after ICO, Bounty hunters are the ones to blame for the dumped price but it doesn't happen all the time because there are highly potential coins existing.

At the bullmarket end of last year, almost every coin rises after the ico when they got listed. So bback then you could invest in any ico and it rised. SO right now we are in the bear market. The most coins dumps very hard after the ICO because of the bounty hunters. When they are no bounty hunter pool, the price of the coin is very stable. So if you are interest in and ICO, you should maybe participate on the bounty or wait until the coin is listed and buy it on the exchange much cheaper.

It is quite normal to have prices that falls after ICO. It really depends on a few things, the exchange strategy by the token developers, "whales" who are holding a significant amount of tokens and the current market as a whole upon listing.
One such coin that fell after ICO and has not actually been up to expectations is MTH (Monetha). And they actually sold out their ICO within few minutes.

This is very understandable, because now, when the crypto-currency market falls heavily, most tokens after selling ICO on the floor are sold for a large sum lower than the ICO.

Anyone who has been trading for a year know that it's usual to see the token fall after ICO. Don't forget that altcoins are a speculative investments so the buyers and sellers will still be the one who will decide on its real market price.

Then, it is really better to buy coins after the ICO is over! And do not trust the full declared value in white paper. Cool

It happens many times. Particularly if the ICO has been selling tokens at a big discount, the plan is not progressing or competitors are just winning the fight, among many other reasons.

I don't think is a problem as long as the project is solid. If a project has good team and great support, then i don't think there is any issue if the price is fall.
Hold tight your coins just.

Have there been any tokens where the trading price on exchanges at the very start fell considerably below the ICO price and has not recovered?

I would say 80% of the token price falls after ICo when it hits exchanges, few people buys during ICO with huge discounts and dumps it in exchange to earn quick bucks. It would take 6- 8 months for any token to go back to ICO price and another 6 months to exceed the ICO price. however, there are few exceptions!!

yes , projects offers high bonus or high discount to pre-sale buyers .
and this discount / bonus rate is much higher for private sale investors .

3rd point is when ico is live then price of eth/btc is lower than when it that coin launch on exchanges , so those early investors sell their tokens for eth/btc .

project like wanchain know how to do planning , they listed on exchange after many month but they only chose 1 major exchange in start - binance .
result - direct 14-20x from ico price .

if the price falls after the ICO - it`s not mean that project not popular. It`s may be because now bitcoin price fall down, and many people afraid buy crypto - and tokens of this project too.
That's normal because most project falls after the ICO but it's temporary that's why smart investors
are also taking this opportunity to buy cheap coins as they believe once it will be listed in bigger exchanges that price could rise easily
and this would give them easy money.

Been doing this method and it really works for me.
Normally, investors put aside a half of the budget for ICO in order to purchase the token after ICO ended. As the price of token mostly drop afterward, they can own more tokens than spend that fixed budget totally in ICO.
Not all are doing that IMO because most of them are not really looking for short term, they buy and they hold longer.
Those who take advantage on that are those really smart people who are willing to do short trade and just get out the moment they get the profit
based on target.

Yes this happens a lot, and it is quiet annoying.
However it is understandable, as it will only increase if something positive happens, something that brings good news, increasing the price. It takes patience to wait out, but usually worth it.

It will fall when there is no decent exchanges right after the ICO, the FUD are all over and this weak hands are gonna sell.
One factor to consider also is when it's traded with a low volume and the bounty will be release, for sure, there will be some dump that will happen.
Even on a decent exchange most of the time prices would really fall after ICO and come to think off that most projects when it do launch and gets listed directly into less popular exchange which is normal because being listed on popular exchange like polo and trex isnt possible in the very first time which it is somehow anticipated listing on lower exchange would happen.Bounty hunters is one of the reasons too and profit taking with the investors.

That is so not the only reason token prices fall. In fact, if you see the history of post ICO coins, they drop almost immediately after they are listed, simply because it gives people an immediate chance to offload their tokens that they bought cheap. These are usually early whale investors who bought at amazing discounts, or scammy bounty hunters who got a lot of tokens for doing stupid work.

Exchange listing is catering to speculators, not holders.
