First of all it is a visual pollution in image, just too many matches.  Tongue  The look of the group stage was much tidier but anyway... I'm just waiting for the matches now.

I think PSG have a really tough fixture ahead of them. Just look at it below.

Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal... 2 of them are away matches as well. This is where we are about to find out how strong PSG is after Mbappe. Yes, they have started the Ligue 1 impressively but we haven't seen the current lineup playing in a big match yet.

Fixtures aren't ready yet as far as I can see. Imagine PSG hosting Manchester City at the beginning already.  Grin

I myself actually prefer the old format, it's more exciting than the new Champions League format. Because with this new format of course it will break the players' concentration, besides having to play in the domestic league, sometimes they also have to defend their country. So with this new format the players will "work hard non-stop" the impact is that besides fatigue, the injury factor also haunts the players. However, we as football fans can only enjoy it. Cheesy
This new format is indeed disagreed by many but the era must change and we need to follow its development especially in the case of the biggest football like the Champions League. As the president of the Champions League said that this will challenge every club and he also joked a little by adding a little torture.  Grin

Regardless of the new or old format, this certainly makes all teams have to maximize opportunities and minimize 1 match not to lose. What is clear is that the schedule is getting tighter, all players will be drained of energy. The slightest injury can have a big impact on the club's status for the next match.

Teams need to adapt to new format even if it is complicated. Group stage now has 8 games instead of 6 which is good change. Some teams like Celtic and Leipzig got lucky or unlucky with their schedule. To move forward teams need to get at least 7.6 points so winning at home and drawing is important. But extra games and rounds might be tiring for teams. We will have to wait and see if this new format works well or not but it is definitely an interesting try that will keep us interested.
Of course this is a new way and for every team competing in the Champions must be able to adapt to this new style, I think this is very interesting with 8 matches but it is very difficult for the team to control the players so that they are not easily injured and lose their players in the club, this stage will be very beneficial for each team in finding points and playing up to eight meetings.

But I think this format will be very difficult to implement because it will drain time for the team playing in the Champions and will also have difficulty controlling the players because of fatigue due to the tight schedule, but this is a new journey we must give a good reaction even though later there will be cons of course with each club but this is their new way I think it will run by itself but at the beginning it will definitely be a little difficult and in the end they will enjoy it.

Actually at home Slavia Prague have good records for qualification stages because Slavia Prague is still unbeaten in the last 8 home matches but their opponent is Lille which is very strong so i doubt they can beat Lille today and for betting option i think both teams to scores or over 2.5 goals is good

Obviously Lille won in the end, this match was easy to predict, it's no coincidence that the bookmakers obviously gave Lille the win. I included this game in a multiple just to increase the multiplier a little. Unfortunately I thought they would win away from home too, it was very close if you want, 2-1 and Lille risked winning again.

Weaker teams have more opportunities to make surprises, shocks and succeed after one or some matches but if there are many matches, they will have less chance to beat stronger teams in a long competition. This new format can give weak teams more appearances in Champions League and can help them to get more income from television rights. However, this new format is not helpful for small and weaker clubs to go farther than with a previous format.

Stronger teams will dominate weaker teams and take most of tickets for going to a next phase with knock out matches. It is my prediction but we will see this new format's effects after the first phase of Champions League 2024 - 2025 season completes.
Facing a weak team will definitely be quite profitable because they can get a victory but sometimes in the Champions League is different because the team that is considered weak can beat a strong team. The weak team certainly does not benefit from the new format and also talk about the results of broadcast rights because usually this will have an impact on the strong team that has star players in it. The new format is also a little more benefited because the number of matches will provide an opportunity for a strong team to collect points.

Basically, the new format that begins to be implemented will not benefit the weak team and the features still have a much greater opportunity. The Champions League competition has become a place for clubs that have many star players and clubs that have a lot of money will more easily compete there, although to determine the champion is not the only reason.

Definitely a good thing that we are going to get some big teams playing against each other, it became a little bit boring when we are talking about something bigger, it wasn't something that we can agree with that easily, it is not going to be a fine situation and we need to do better.

Think about it, we have seen big clubs just destroy the smaller clubs in groups so far, which didn't make that much good tv, we still watched it, but I bet that when these big clubs play each other, there will be a lot more people tuning in. That means bigger audience, that means bigger tv rights deal, that means more tickets (or more expensive at least) and that means more merch sales for teams too.

These all point to making more money for every team and that is why I enjoy this new group stage system. Plus, you get to play two more extra games on top of all that, which means a lot more money too, and every team that joins this group stage, will make a lot of money and will do just fine.

the new match format will not change the situation much. the favorites are still teams that have players who can be rotated to maintain their team's performance. the teams that will have difficulty because of the tight match schedule are teams that do not have players with the same quality in the main squad and their substitutes. the coach's strategy will determine how the underdog teams can compete.

there are 8 matches for each team in the league phase. this system will bring together strong teams earlier. but will not be eliminated immediately because with the points system obtained all teams have a chance. a more interesting system for the Champions League this season. maybe there will be many surprises from the underdog teams.

The new format will make the Champions League more competitive, if the teams you are referring to are struggling to compete with the stronger teams, they will have to work on improving their squads to qualify for the round of 16 or higher. In every competition, there are survivors and there are losers, any team will try to survive longer by showing their best performance. No one is benefited or disadvantaged in this format, if a small team feels objectionable to the format that has just been used this season, they should start making corrections by bringing in quality players.
UCL is the most prestigious league in Europe, football fans are eager to see something extraordinary happen here, this format will present more Big Matches compared to the previous format, strong teams must also be more vigilant with the increasing number of matches, if they are unable to maintain their performance due to the increasingly tight schedule, they will be eliminated sooner than expected.

Why do I feel like this new format favours the big teams more than the small teams? In the old format, the smaller teams in the group had to fight to get at least second so they could make it to the round of 16, but now the big teams will occupy the top 8 and when the teams in 9th to 24th position are paired for the play off, there is a bigger chance the big team will win. This is just a super league that involves all the top teams in Europe.

I like the format though. It means more interesting matches. We don't have to wait till the quarter-finals before we see clashes of big teams. Aside from the fact that the players have more matches to pay in a short period of time, I believe the format is better than the old one.

Match first leg LOSC managed to win 2 - 0 over Slavia Praha and Dinamo Zagreb won 3 - 0 over Qarabag, today the second leg for this match will also start and Slavia Praha plays at home as well as Qarabag.
I personally think this second match is match that will be difficult to predict who will win but I sure LOSC can qualify for the next round, but for Qarabag itself it will be difficult to surpass Dinamo Zagreb with the 3 aggregate points they have.
I don't know who will get the advantage in these two matches and can qualify for the next round, what is clear is that Dinamo Zagreb has fairly comfortable condition with the 3 aggregate points they have, playing away with draw might be the only way for Dinamo Zagreb.
In these two matches I also took the BTTS option to bet, the chances of goals from each team are really quite large if look at the performance of the first leg match.
Tonight is going to be one of the best in qualifying rounds as we have few interesting matches first Qarabağ vs Dinamo Zagreb where Zagreb having 3 goals lead even I am sure about Qarabağ win, but I have strong feeling most chances they will be not able to cover this deficit with things are surely unpredictable because Qarabağ is having interesting history in recent matches they are playing good soccer.

Other matches are also having good chance of going either way, but Lille can stay on better spot as they are having good squad and their performance in last few games are interesting.

Slovan Bratislava and Crvena zvezda both are having good margin of win as their performance in first leg games were also not bad at all Usually teams having good advantage of home ground and fans which is also having good impact on their performance and result.
Yes and in the two matches it was seen that Slavia Praha vs LOSC was the most interesting because both played quite fiercely and really pressed each other to get the victory and advantage in order to advance to the next round.
In the end Slavia Praha won with score of 2 - 1, but the aggregate advantage remained with LOSC considering that in the first leg they won with score of 2 - 0.
For Qarabag vs Dinamo Zagreb itself, the victory belonged to Dinamo Zagreb with score of 0 - 2 and this was like in the first leg match which showed Dinamo Zagreb dominating the game and making Qarabag overwhelmed.
But unfortunately because the Qarabag vs Dinamo Zagreb match did not match the prediction, I lost my bet.

The new format is a bit complicated for everyone, but we'll see how it works out. 8 games instead of 6 in a group stage is a good development and the fixture luck could be decisive for some teams.
At first glance, Celtic have a very good draw and Leipzig have one of the worst draws.
The AI projections showed that 7.6 points is enough to get into the top 24 and keep going, so teams that can win 2 and draw 2 -prefarably at home- will keep going. After the play-off round for teams between 9-24, it seems a bit tiring to continue from the last 16. It's going to be an interesting experience for all of us, whether it's good or bad we can't say for now though.

I've tried my possible best to summarize how the new format works but it's a been very complicated if I must confess but since this will be the first time it'll be used in the competition, I'm not too bothered. I believe we'll get familiar with the new format in no distant time and won't find it difficult to understand again. The only good thing I've known so far about the new format is the higher number if matches than the former format as it'll give football fans the opportunity of watching more matches in the club football's most prestigious competition.

You could see it either way. I remember when Klopp was talking about how the players have trouble coping with recovery since there are all these weird tournaments all over the planet. Since it is new, people might be skeptical here, but I have to agree as I think the old format was already big enough.

What determines who gets into group 1? Success in the Champions League over several years or a luck factor as I was surprised that Leverkusen is in group 2. As was said here before Leverkusen is going to face some serious challenges and this is not the Europa League anymore. Lots of people will be watching them after their remarkable last season.

I saw that they added a play-off phase as well, which means that a team could in total have four games in the Champions League per season, correct? 8 games instead of 6 and then perhaps 2 more games during the play-offs. That would make it 17 games in the CL alone in case someone who goes through play-offs makes it to the final. That is pretty insane.

I've just learned a little about the new format although I don't fully understand it yet. But for those who are still confused about the new format of the Champions League this season, you can see the picture above. So, all 36 teams will compete and compete for the top 8 positions to be able to qualify directly to the round of 16, and the teams ranked 9-24 in the league must compete again to compete for 8 tickets through the playoff round which will be played 2 legs to be able to qualify for the round of 16 which will accompany the top 8 teams, and the 25-36th ranked are immediately eliminated and will not play again in any European competition.
It's a bit confusing, but we will get used to it as the game progresses.

It's actually easy to understand, each team will face 8 different opponents, with 4 home games and 4 away games. In addition, the opponents that each team will face consist of 2 teams from each Pot, and this season the round is called the league phase. By paying attention to the drawing results, we can see in detail each match that each team will face. I think we will get used to it in the future, it is understandable that this is still relatively new to all of us. In the meantime, we will watch Real Madrid face Dortmund which reminds us of last season final. Likewise, Manchester City will face Inter Milan which reminds us of the final match of the 2022-2023 season.

Thanks for sharing.
The way this table is presented is quite confusing, i.e. the first column listing all the teams is separate to the fixtures part of the table.

But the main takeaway from the tournament structure changes is that the league (or pot) stage will not feature teams playing 2 games against each other (home/away) but, instead, each team will play 8 games against 8 different teams.
Some could say it's not necessarily fair, but I can live with that.

This new Champions League format was very confusing to me at first, but after studying it for a while I understood how it was run. All teams will play a total of 8 matches against 8 different teams, that has never happened before in the group stage. This change in format also means that all teams have more matches scheduled this season, even the high tension of the Champions League competition can result in injuries to some of these players.

I don't know how the participating teams will respond to this change in format, but as participants they will definitely benefit from a financial perspective, especially income per match. In the early rounds there are lots of big matches, I can't wait for them.

Now we are in the draw phase and 4 pots have been announced. Each pot consists of 9 teams that will be drawn to determine who will be the opponents for each team. In the first pot there are teams that are indeed very favored, in the second pot there are also many teams that we are waiting for their appearance, such as Leverkusen for example.
Can't wait to wait for the results of the draw which will determine the opponents of each team in the Champions League this season.
With the increase in slots and it being confirmed which clubs will compete in the Champions League this season we can see that in the end there are a lot of debutant clubs that have been monitored in Pot 3 and Pot 4.
In addition, after the draw we can see that there will be a lot of big matches in the league phase this time and since I am a Madrid fan, maybe the rematch between Madrid and Liverpool will be an interesting treat in the league phase this time even though it happened at Anfield but I am still very excited to see them compete again because there are always surprising things happening in Liverpool matches against Madrid and I look forward to it this season Cheesy

Also, Manchester City against PSG could be a good treat although we won't see Haaland against Mbappe but in the end it could be a match that I think is quite tight.

Placing priority on experience, I will agree to an extent with you that the new format will mostly favour the bigger and frequent team. Since these teams have got the experience, they have that advantage over the smaller team and the fact that more games in shorter times have to be played is a reason to understand that the bigger teams will wear out thw smaller team but this new format will definitely bring home more fun than it has in previous times when untill knock out or quarter to semi finals before we get to enjoy good and interesting games that involves clash of bigger teams in the champions league.
