Leverkusen had one good year last season, and that's it, nothing more, which is why I am not expecting the whole world from them, doesn't make sense. I believe the best thing right now for them would be figuring out what they could do for the long term because Xabi will leave, Wirtz will eventually leave too, so they need to figure out what they can do after they are gone, not just focus on this season.
Obviously Leverkusen isn't as good as people think they are, and that will be soon apparent to everyone but until then people will have vote of confidence on what they can do. If you ask me, this should be an easy game for Liverpool, they are looking like they are having a whole new level of success these days and I can see them win this one too.
Bayer Leverkusen are only experiencing some difficulties at the moment which I think is normal for a club of their calibre, because when you succeed and win big things then every other club begin to pay serious attention to you.

A Bayer Leverkusen team that can't defend the title this season is not a burden for the players and the coach because their success last season lifting the trophy was the first in history and will always be remembered by everyone from the fans to the management.
I also don't expect much from them, in fact I recognize them as a solid team when they already have a chance to win the title at the end of the season. That's what distinguishes Leverkusen from other Bundesliga teams when they have a big chance to win the Bundesliga. Which team I mean I don't need to mention.
Players leave because they are targeted by other clubs, that's a good achievement. For example if Alonso goes and Wirtz goes then they deserve to have proven themselves.
Bayer Leverkusen are experiencing what I think is normal for a team of their calibre considering what they did last season in the German bundesliga and in Europe and at such other teams are beginning to pay serious attention when playing against them which also expected, hence it is time for the club to start strategizing on the future of the club putting into consideration that the coach and some of the current player may soon leave the club and if that happens it may put the club in disarray just like the case of Ajax Amsterdam when they came close to winning the champions league some years ago and later went on to sell all their key players and even the coach also left too leaving the club in total disarray so I think club should take some precautionary measure to avoid such looming disaster.
