Happy to notice that the German Bundesliga resumed successfully today. Unfortunately didn't watch the matches but this is good news to the Other remaining major leagues in Europe and the UCL that there is still hope to finish up what they started.

Though it's an uphill task, I can't wait for us to get some sweet revenge on Manchester City at the Etihad and kick them out of the UCL.

@logfiles you need to watch the highlights of the Dortmund game asap because not only did you miss the game, but you also missed the new way of celebrations from the players i.e. shoulder touches, celebrating at least 2 meters away from each other etc. Also it seems that you’re a Real Madrid fan and as a Manchester United fan I’ll be very happy if Madrid can beat our common rival i.e. City, and progress ahead when they meet on August 17th (unofficial date which may be confirmed soon).

They will be more focused to play the games and end the season rather than trying to win a title or win a game.
Do you really think the players would say "Nah, let us finish the game quickly and try to win the title next season" if they have the chance to win the title?

Yeah it's better to not restart the competition then. There is no reason to watch passionless games like a pre-season tournament.

Probably better if the odds are against you because think about it if the odds are against you when you lose there is nothing anybody will say to you since you were expected to lose anyway, and if you win there is even bigger upside to you because you were considered to lose while winning.

It is worse when you are expected to win, because if you win there is nothing extra, people already expected you to win anyway so it won't be a big deal, but if you lose a game you should win, there will be a bigger downside. Every team plays their best in almost games that is what I believe. There could be players however who do not play 100%, rarely teams but players could be like that, we have seen plenty of players with attitude problems who sabotage the teams basically.

Thats one thing I was not sure about as well. I mean teams will play as well as they can, but maybe some people could be afraid of this more than others. I am seeing people outside going here and there right now even with the virus still going around, yet here I am barely ever went outside for the past 2 full months. Which means players would probably have that difference as well, some people who will want to just stay away from everyone as much as they can while still getting close when they only need to for the position, and players who do not care about it at all. I don't know if that will be something we would be able to see with a naked eye but it feels like that is something players will feel inside of them for sure.

Everyone thinks that teams will "do their best because of X" but in reality teams are already doing their best mate, I do not think anyone goes out and says "maybe we will win, maybe we won't, who cares" or something like that. Everyone tries to win as much as they can.

This is exactly what I think every time I remember a match my team plays (Tottenham Hotspurs) and we are not expected to win. We do not go out and say who cares, we all want to win, no matter how big the odds are against us, some would say even especially when the odds are against us.

But now with coronavirus I don't believe that all players are going to give 100% when playing the remaining games.
They will be more focused to play the games and end the season rather than trying to win a title or win a game.
It is more like a process that needs to be done for them in order to reach the summer break.

Fully manchester city will continue to fight in the champions league because this is one of the champions that man can expect in this season, but I believe their match in the second leg with Real Madrid will bring victory to advance to the next round provided they are consistent during the match started again because it's been a long time since competing so it's possible that the rigidity of the player is always there.
In the pandemic, the strength of one team depends upon the virus and which player(s) are unfortunately infected with the virus, before which matches (important or not). Every team have their own key players and if they lose their key players for very important matches, the odds to see they lose the game in two legs is higher.

Manchester City is strong and this season they have reasons to fight for the Champions League. Pep has his reasons to demonstrate his reputation in Champions League after so many failed seasons since the day he left Barcelona, from Bayern Muchen to Manchester City.

Sometimes its the obvious talent gap, sometimes its not their day, sometimes strategy just overlaps each other and so forth, in the end one way or another one team loses, not because they didn't wanted it, but because they couldn't. So, Manchester city will definitely try to win the champions league for sure, there is no doubt in that, not just because they are banned for the next years because.. well everyone wants to win the champions league, but will they be capable of doing that? We will see.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills

Manchester City will move next after the second leg at Etihad stadium. They already lost the Premier League trophy for Liverpool (it is just a matter of time till the round Liverpool officially take the trophy). Additionally, Man City already have reasons to spend all their strength and resources for Champions League because they might lose ban appeal and get punishments from UEFA and might not be allowed to join Champions League next 2 or 3 seasons.

My interest in the CL has taken a nose dive since we (Liverpool) got knocked out. For sporting integrity though it must be completed. The show must go on, I don’t mind who wins it but I don’t want Man City to Cheesy
I enjoy UCLfrom season to season even if my team gets eliminated in the earlier stages. It's sad that everything had to stop just as the league was starting to get interesting.

Don't you worry about City,  the blancos will handle them in the second leg if the league resumes  Grin

Don't you worry about City or Real Madrid or Atletico, Liverpool! Barca will knock them all out, yes, we remember what you did to us, but it's okay, we'll swap turns this season... whenever it resumes that is!

What I'm more interested in now is who makes it to the next, or if City do.

Lol, the second leg is at the Etihad remember and Madrid go there trailing, the advantage is with the cityzens and now they are certain a third EPL title in a row is not possible, they must try to make this season a success. If Pep and city throw away this chance to drop Madrid and make a statement in this UCL, then they may not get another chance to, I think City will progress to the next round.

On the other side, it is good to say nearly everyone changed and talked about football resumes, from nationwide to Europe-wide. It is likely that people have felt enought tired with quarantine, and they want to return to new normal life.

Hence I think many players could comeback fat and out of shape and just even if they look proper, they will definitely be under conditioned and they are going to just play bad for a long time before they can get back in shape. Hence I think early games would be disappointing obviously but it is better than no games.
I know fitness due to a long period without playing regular intense football matches might be an issue but most of the clubs have tried to ensure that the player at least try to train in their respective home compounds. I also believe most of the players have professional nutritionists and fitness doctors advising them on their nutrition and keeping track of their weight and fitness.

You may consider that these people are professional players and they will take care of their body, but you are forgetting that many of them are young as well. All those cool cats back in the day like George Best or Eric Cantona was a football player as well. I know they are back in the day but all of those "cool cats" that used to look like someone who is wise and knew what they were doing, was just people on their 20's making stupid decisions.

I think that now that the UCL has stopped none is going to enjoy it as we did before.
It will be a cup that it is going to end very fast, a lot of games are going to played at the same day-time and we are not be able to see all the games or at least the most of them as we used to do.

The UCL match was never missed because this was a very interesting match where I preferred UCL in the highest competition, well even though Liverpool had been eliminated by Atletico even I was very unexpected at Anfield Liverpool had weakness so they were eliminated from UCL.

Man.City and Real Madrid will be the very game later if UCL starts the match then this is what I want to see.

Lol liverpool fans are so spoiled, you have been good for a minute, I haven't watched my team do good in champions league for over half a decade, and even at that point we got eleminated in quarter finals. If I were watch champions league only my team plays, I would watch probably like 6 games a year and thats it. When it becomes quarter finals and afterwards it doesn't matter which team is there, I am watching it. I can't really watch them all live, or I do not prefer to watch the whole game afterwards neither, so I pick some games with big teams and watch them, rest of them I just watch the highlights, youtube has this 10 minute mark for monatery gain so many big channels make it 10 minute highlights which is more than enough for me honestly.
