I wonder from what year you wrote this message?  Grin I haven't seen any magic from Messi either this year or last.
As for the teams, they will play the first match in suboptimal lineups and suboptimal form. For one of the teams, this will be fatal - as one team will go further, and the second, which also planned the peak of form for the later stages of the Champions League, will leave the tournament.

I agree, Messi’s magic seems to have disappeared since he came to Paris  Grin
I read somewhere that Messi is not yet fully ready due to health problems, that he is unhappy in Paris, has no friends, doesn't know the language, that he uses every opportunity to visit Barcelona etc.
It seems to me that Real is a more complete team than PSG and has a better chance of winning.
PSG have too many stars in the team, Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, who think they are bigger than the team, don't like to help teams in defense etc.
Against weaker teams this is not a problem but against top teams like Manchester City or Real, it is a serious problem in the game.

Messi has been playing in the same team all his life in the same formation, so it is difficult for him to adapt. Plus the biggest reason is age. As for problems with language and lack of friends, it sounds doubtful - there are a lot of Spanish-speaking players in PSG and a lot of those whom Messi has known for a long time. I think he will have more problems with socialization if he returns to Argentina than in any European club.

I doubt age is the problem, he played great in spain despite his age. I won't compare him to Ronaldo because it's silly and hackneyed, but I agree about the adaptation. To play for one club for so many years and then move to another club and continue to play at the same level is very difficult. It`s unlikely about the language, I`m sure they all talk to each other, they just don`t have the chemistry yet. I've seen many moments when Messi was in an open position but they just did not give him a pass because they did not understand that thay had to do so.

Messi isn't in best shape right now, that's true. I mean he had a couple of health problems, including Coronavirus and his Champions League performance wasn't all that bad. Didn't he score 4 times or so so far? Let's see how he will be doing during the final stage games. Ligue 1 seems to not really be representative of his actual performance. I think he isn't really that motivated in Ligue 1.

It looks like the UEFA Champions League is getting another update sooner or later. This time it is not about adding additional clubs to the competition, but UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin announced the following on a possible "final four" format, which could be one the way for the season 2024/2025 onwards:

Quote
We haven't yet discussed this properly because of the pandemic. But my opinion is it would be great. It should be more competitive and more interesting for the fans.

It's a simple equation to solve - we would just need to compensate clubs for the revenue they would lose from hosting the semi-final matches. That is possible. It would come in for the 2024-25 season at the earliest"

Source: https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1490341840192774149

We will have to see how a "final four" format would be designed, I am curious how the developments in this regard will continue in the coming months. Maybe this could finally be a meaningful improvement to the UEFA Champions League.
I find the current format good enough. I don't see how a new format will improve the competitiveness of the league but I like how straightforward he is with the solution. Just give them more money so they will agree hehe. I don't think the change is for the fans either...it's getting more money from the fans.

I expect a lot of surprise in this champions league edition , chelsea to win it back to back for instance  Grin.

Another bad update which a personally don't like. Why disrupt the current status of the competitions if things were just going on fine?

Before we realize it, they will be suggesting that the tournament be played in one city. What make champion's league remarkable is those home and away games

The defeat they experienced in the match against Milan this week did not suit Inter.  They will face a stronger team than Milan in the champions league.  They need more than just the game they played in Milan to beat Liverpool.  With this defeat, he lost an important 3 points in the league.  If he wins in Napoli today, we can say that Inter will close the week with a loss of 9 points.
I would guess that it would actually help them? Like in a "we have to win this because we lost to Milan, two back to back bad wins would hurt us and fans will be mad" type of situation? Obviously you could try to play as well as you hope and could end up losing as well. I am not saying that they could end up losing or winning or anything here, the result is still unknown and we have no idea.

However, at the very least we know that they will do their best. They could be great, they could be horrible but we all know that they will go out there and play with 100% in order to win. If Liverpool ends up not caring enough or thinking Inter can't win or something like that, then Inter actually has a good chance.

For Liverpool vs Inter i think first leg could be the advantages for Inter because playing at home some people predict Inter will playing offensive because if they win Inter one step a head went to quarterfinal but during the history on european competition both of teams has been met 4 times with Liverpool 3 times win and Inter once time win this proves that Liverpool not easy opponent for Inter and if we see this statistic most likely Liverpool are the favourite in this match

it's not for sure
Inter are a very strong team, but they are a crazy team
a team that can lose to the lowest in the standings and have a great match against the strongest team in the world

I honestly can't (for decades) understand how this team works
I just know that he spends a lot of money with no results

If we learned one thing from Champions League games when Liverpool is involved, it is that after the first leg nothing is won or lost! Cheesy I guess you can all recall the game against Barcelona when the first leg was 3 - 0 for Barcelona and Liverpool did turn it around. They are a team that can make the impossible possible. Therefore, Inter is well advised to win the first one and play as concentrated in the second one. Definitely a great match for soccer fans!

Though Inter Milan is doing well in the Italian league title race and are occupying their first slot in the table but though they are not comfortable there because they are just 1 point above their serious contenders.

Inter has only one point advantage, but also one game less than second-placed AC Milan. Before the weekend, Inter had even a bigger lead, before they narrowly lost the derby 1-2 in a good match against AC Milan. You can't compare teams based on their rankings in their respective leagues because the leagues are not well comparable with each other. If that's what it's all about, then the English champion should have clearly won the Champions League for years.

Liverpool is a successful team this year, playing well in the league. But Inter is no different too. I think it will be a fun match to watch, I recommend everyone to watch it. It is difficult to know who will win this match, although it is said to be better for Liverpool, I think Inter's chances are also very high. In this match, we can see a result like a draw or Inter's win Smiley

Looking at the statistics of the current game then Liverpool are superior because they can always control the attack, but in the Champions League all clubs play to the maximum in order to win, currently Inter are indeed one of the clubs that are rising in Serie A and currently they have led the standings temporarily, and in this game we have difficulty predicting the victory of the two giant clubs so watching the game will be very exciting.

In the other hand, Liverpool is enjoying their second slot in EPL. Liverpool has continued to do well in the absence of thier key men, Mane and Salah. But between these two clubs, Liverpool is at the right position to win. Always Liverpool win unless some not normal happens.

Have domination of Serie A and La Liga team last three years ago and now Primer League team most domination on UEFA Champions League, last final both team from Primer League Chelsea vs Manchester City, I think my favorite team on reach to final maybe primer league team and La Liga team exactly with Real  Madrid, we should applause how consistent from primer league team always sent four team on next stage and have chance two or three team primer league pass to semifinal UEFA Champions League.
It would not be wrong to discuss some of the consistency that has been made by several clubs in playing even though some of the clubs are your own favorites, but everyone must also remember that in the Champions League it is not only consistency that must be relied on, but every line must have improvements like no make a small mistake by underestimating their opponent, because those who qualify in the Champions League are those who generally often win in other leagues.
In fact, although EPL teams advance to the next round more often, the ones who get the UCL title more often are La Liga teams. It's just about Real madrid and also Barcelona after them, every now and then teams from other leagues take turns getting this UCL title. But we can already guess when it comes to La Liga and the Bundesliga, they are only about Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Unlike the more competitive leagues such as the Serie A and EPL leagues, because in these two leagues there are many big teams that also have the opportunity to win the UCL title. Of the two leagues, at least they have many teams that can list their names in the UCL title, Serie A and EPL are not always just about one or two teams because they have many candidates and it's not boring.

If we look at the distribution of Champions League trophy winners, most of them come from La Liga with 18 trophies. But as you said sadly
it's only dominated by Real Madrid and Barcelona, different from the EPL which has many teams that have the potential to win the Champions
League trophy. This may happen because in the EPL there are many teams that have good financial strength, so many EPL teams can buy
star players to strengthen their squad. Meanwhile in La Liga, Bundesliga or Ligue 1 are only a few teams that have good finances.
So it's no wonder the EPL is now the most popular European league and has very expensive broadcasting rights.

It certainly is.  Every team is great.  PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City are the three biggest candidates.  Every team has the potential to become a champion.  Look at Ajax, how they played great in their group.  You see, Ajax made it to the final.  Anything is possible in the champions league.  Still, my favorites will be PSG and Manchester City.

The teams that qualified for the last 16 are great teams that cannot be underestimated at all, just like benfica, many people suspect that benfica will only end up in the group phase because they are joined with bayern munchen and barcelona, but the evidence is that they were even able to get rid of barcelona to first time in the last 10 years from of the champions league, apart benfica, it looks like ajax will also give a lot of surprises this season in the round of 16, and my opinion bayern münchen and liverpool are strong candidates to win the champions league this season.

Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris SG are the most important candidates. This year the Champions League is much more exciting. I agree with you. Teams such as Benfica and Ajax are not shown as favorites, but they can make big surprises. Especially Ajax in the their group matches made 6/6 and collected 18 points. They can also show a successful graphic in the qualifiers. Benfica, on the other hand, created the impression of a team playing well, beating Barça.

Liverpool are playing better games in my opinion. Of course, Inter is a very good team. However, progressing successfully in the Premier League, Liverpool is strong enough to beat Inter. It wouldn't be surprising if they couldn't defeat them. I was thinking that Inter would have trouble on goal paths after Lukaku's transfer. But apparently they can easily score goals and win. Football is played at the highest level in the Champions League. Both teams must show their best game.

It is not right to compare English clubs and Italian clubs, you are right. English teams have much better players this year. So I agree with what you said.
But the situation in Champions League matches can be very different. In league matches, players do not play with all their performances, but they can perform very well in important matches Smiley

Football has its cycle, in the 90-00s it was the moment of Italian football where Milan and Juventus always arrived in the final of the Champions every year, in the years 00-15 we saw the domination of Spanish football while now the domination of English football exists.

But this time it is worrying in the sense that English football generates too much money compared to other leagues, even three times more money.
The difference is too much and the solution to balance everything is only one and we will hear about it from April

Nazario Ronaldo has an explanation for this. He said I wish I was playing football during this period, we did not earn so much money when we played.
I think such high salaries are very risky, the goal of every football player right now is to play in English clubs. English teams will continue to recruit top players as long as club presidents continue to receive these high salaries. They are making an interesting investment Cheesy

We didnt see much of the domination of england clubs before. Mostly spanish teams Barcelona,Real Madrid and Atletico madrid from spanish club and Juventus and Bayern Munich from other countries were always at the top of the champions league. But lately its just an england show in the finals of the champions league. England football is now far the best tournament by far. I dont see things that will change this year aswell maybe if Bayern Munich tries to win it.
