If Liverpool has no interest in the European league because they only want the Champions League and EPL, I think Liverpool have made a fatal mistake. This season they have a good chance in the European league, but not in fighting for the English league title. The draw against United reduced their chances in the Premier League.  I guess many people bet for the favour of Liverpool, and they all lose their money because Atalanta players came with full force to use Liverpool like weak team for not allowed them to score a single goal.

Probably EL has never attracted so much attention, and all because one of the favorites lost. I don't agree that Liverpool didn't show interest in the competition, they did. They were simply outplayed by Atalanta. I think Liverpool overrated themselves or they underrated Atalanta. Most Liverpool fans felt it would be a walk in the park because they were playing at home too. English fans need to follow other leagues more often, EPL teams are not the only good teams in Europe.

I don't think Liverpool will make a comeback against Atalanta. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it's extremely difficult considering the fact they're they're playing away from home. How are they going to score 4 goals and make sure Atalanta doesn't score at home?

TBH, I was one of the bettors who was shocked and didn't expect a surprise to happen with Liverpool defeat and actually this was all my own fault, who initially didn't really believe in Liverpool but insisted on betting on their win.
Liverpool disappointed many people in yesterday's match even though some already understand that there are always surprises in every match but actually it doesn't make sense when I start to doubt a little when Salah is not the starting player in the match but I am just being positive and believe that it is just a strategy which is different and will make a strong attack in the second half and unfortunately Atalanta knows this strategy so they can beat it easily and score 3 scores without any resistance from Liverpool.

What happened yesterday has a simple explanation, and at least IN MY OPINION, Liverpool didn't show the interest that the competition deserves, while Atalanta did

Practically Liverpool will not qualify if in the second leg they do not score 3 more goals because Atalanta beat them with a difference of 3 goals at Anfield. Totally agreed. One who watched this match live would know how much effort Liverpool made throughout the match. They wasted a lot of chances and Atalanta were having a really great day at the same time.    Klopp's rotating the starting eleven still wasn't an issue for Liverpool. They weren't having problems with creating opportunities to score goals.

I also believe that there is still hope for Liverpool. Do you remember their matches against Atalanta in the group stage of the 2020/2021 season? A 5-0 away win by Liverpool and Atalanta to win by 2-0 away later.    Maybe Liverpool might repeat this who knows...

You are right. Klopp wanted to rest key players in his squad for this match. Because Klopp's main goal is to secure the Premier League title. So he didn't put much effort into the Europa League matches. Last season we saw Barcelona dominate La Liga, but their performance in every Europa League match was very poor. The big teams are usually not interested in winning the Europa League title.

However, since this is Klopp's last season with Liverpool, I thought Klopp would want to secure both the Premier League and Europa League titles. But after a 3-0 home defeat I see no chance of Liverpool qualifying for the next round.
