Swing trading maybe. It would probably be best to call it "trading" generally, because there are 2 large fractions here: those who trade at all and those who don't.

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
It's funny how this forum only knows either day trading or holding forever.

If you don't normally trade daily, you are not a daytrader.

What if you trade every other day, are you a gay(bi) daily trader?

If you don't normally trade daily, you are not a daytrader. Looking at the typically dull volumes, I doubt there are many day traders, maybe some small ones.

So my real options are
1.  Store in and come back in 5 years and see what its worth
2.  Try to double it in the safest (USD term wise) way - Daytrading

Daytrading is extremely risky in any market. It's speculating.

Buy and hold is a very effective strategy in an asset which will appreciate in value.

Assuming he would actually hand over those 600k bitcoins. He'll be in jail for the rest of his life most likely, whether he hands over the coins or not.
Why wouldn't he?  Unless he's really stupid then those bitcoins are only part of his stash and he's got more in another account that the feds don't know about.
I think it's been established with how he got himself arrested that he is really stupid, though I'd label it careless.

Also, the feds have all the transactional data from the Silk Road server. They know exactly how much commission was earned in its lifetime.

Yes, I hear there's a great market gap in online drug stores. Cheesy

Or you could create a fork that redistributes FBI stolen Bitcoins.

is this possible?

That could be years from now. Bitcoin might have a huge crash from $3000 down to $1200... but your strategy of holding cash waiting for it won't work out for you.

As someone who came into BTC after the runup to $250 and then the drop my options of gaining more coin are the following

1.  Buy it with USD which increases my cost per coin average and increasing the amount of USD I have invested
2.  Gambling it on Sportsbooks (doing decently at), BJ tables or Just-Dice
3.  Investing in Just-Dice which is more gambling
4.  Investing in BTC stocks which imo all have diminishing returns in regards to BTC
5.  Mining which is proving unprofitable now
6.  Day Trading and trying to catch waves created by news or FUD, in which I believe the biggest is going to be FBI vs. DPR

So my real options are
1.  Store in and come back in 5 years and see what its worth
2.  Try to double it in the safest (USD term wise) way - Daytrading

Or, you know, you could start a business using those coins as starting capital and earn more coins by producing an actual product.

Could be an operative returning the remainder of his coins after closing the operation.

The Bureau also had a wallet for the coins in the "Mitt Romney extortion" anybody watching that?

Perhaps they are going after vendors and confiscating everything they find unencrypted?

By the way, Mr. Loaded just moved his stash. Wonder what he is up to... Time to panic?

I doubt he's selling. Even so, he would do it as a private deal since mtgox is unsafe and the other platforms do not have enough market depth

I guess he just feels unsafe to store 40,000BTC in an used address and moves it to a new one

Do all those belong to G. Maxwell ?!

On the topic. If it's known that they manage to strike a deal with DPR on the >600k, the market would instantly go into Armaggedon as soon as it hears the news.

Honestly I believe this is the case and why I am sitting on cash at an exchange waiting on.
