So now I will take a rest and mind my own business in calm quietness for days, weeks or months.

I don't care if your "rpietila" persona is real or not. Our identities are mostly just stories we tell ourselves anyway, and yours is comedy gold. We may all be worms, but you sir, are a glow worm (borrowed from Churchill, I think).

Get some rest and come back soon.

Buy Bitcoin while you still can. The price is being be held stable by big money for the Silicon Valley conference. The price will soon explode upwards.

I just looked at the market depth over at GOX. My guess is that something is up. The sell side is really starting to dip (146k), lowest I've recorded since end of April.
Bids at $70 are the 2nd highest I've seen and the asks at $300 are the lowest since the start of the month. The sell side volume at higher prices is creeping up.

Hmmmm  Huh  Wink

The surprises of next week will surely make it up for it.

RE stability - I get this feeling people don't know what to think. No one really wants to play until they sort that out I guess?

All this great media coverage, and in particular the announcements in the last 24 hours! (webmoney, funding founders)... then there's the potential of some further developments post conference.

BUT the elephant in the room is the dwolla issue, any updates on that yet?

Bids are starting to pile up. Slowly... Hopefully this good news filters around the web and we see some upward action.

Anyway, back on topic....  I wonder if this is now a return to the stability that we've had over the last few days, or is it the calm before the storm, as seems to be the norm with BTC?

feels like:

blast off postponed until further notice, reason: bad weather...

Rain? That works!

The bids and the asks are very close together, I suppose that a lot of cash/BTC needs to change hands for the price to move significantly in either direction.

When did that happen? What do you mean by storm? A dive or a take off?

Selling pressure is still strong near the vertex, t's quite visible by the steepness of the red hill on chartbudy's plots. That there are little coins for sale at higher prices is quite odd. Looks like the market itself won't go anywhere... traders have little to win/lose. Only more demand for coins will drive the price up, or of course, people start to not care about bitcoin and it will loose it's value.

When the price was 40, a lot of people said the price by the end of 2013 would be either 400 or 0. Half a year left... any guesses? Right now it is not showing great potential to bit climbs.

"I am currently detained in a psychiatric institution in Helsinki, because I need rest. My physical well-being is taken care of."
Edit: Do psych wards have wifi?  Smiley

That depends - currently I use my own equipment. But seriously guys, the whole idea is that this would be a period of rest for me. I have worked too hard, gotten irritated, and my behavior has not been up to the par. So now I will take a rest and mind my own business in calm quietness for days, weeks or months. They will tell me when I am clear to leave. Just forget about me, until I come public again. If everybody talks about me all the time, what difference does it even make whether I am here or not??  Roll Eyes

If somebody believes that I do not even exist, there is a good way to find out. If rontus does not appear to San Fransisco airport with flight SK3713 scheduled to land at 12:20 PST (in about 30 minutes from now, though I don't know or care if it's early or late), I am probably a bullshitter. If he does, but denies being my Ambassador-at-Large, I am a joker. If however he comes with Annina, who is a tall and beautiful lady, and they both tell stories about the Haikko Summit, and express their reverence towards me who sent them there (even though I was physically detained in an institution), you just have to believe me and leave me alone. Right? Please..?

rpietila, you're a presence on the boards that's for sure, whether in person or by proxy. So please, for your own sanity, take a break and don't look at what's being written. We all look forward to hearing from you when you're well again.

He's right Rpitila, take that break and enjoy the peace away from here, that way you'll be back on form in no time, we all need a change of scene sometimes but that's not always as obvious to us when we're in the middle of a situation as it is when looking from outside.  Take it easy for a few days and you'll soon be back to your old self again.  I look forwards to reading your continuing adventures when you return.

Shit, if a tall and beautiful woman shows up at a Bitcoin conference we're all doomed anyway.  Grin

You should have seen the original masterplan to arrive with a 8-ppl delegation, half and half, with silver engraved with our name (etc.etc.).

We are flexing our supernode muscle: I decided to project considerable force (including my presence) to another continent with approximately 60-hour lead time (from the idea to the operative capability in the target city). It took too great a toll from me and I ended up minding my own business here. I sent only a 2-ppl detachment to the Bay area, but they are my Ambassadors and have full authority to spend as many bitcoins as deemed necessary to subdue all, as well as I myself am subdued under the authority of Finnish government right now. Authority is a key if you want to do something cool (anything, really..)

First Class Bitcoin Supernode

- Sovereign ability to run, manage and develop the Bitcoin network in absence of any other entities.
- 24/7 monitoring, technical, and trading ability, connections with most relevant Bitcoin power centers, accounts in all relevant exchanges
- Global operation, capacity to set up activities in most jurisdictions with minimum lead times, access to all specialists (bankers, lawyers, tech) globally
- Able to generate its own funding indefinitely regardless of bitcoin exchange value, or backed by an entity wealthy enough to support the operations indefinitely in absence of cash flow from operations
- Minimum full-time staff in command&control structure: 5-10
