That's why "do Research" is more important than trusting the rating sites. But we can't totally judge the rating sites, because they got paid to advertise some ICOs by giving big ratings.

The best thing to do now is to trust your self. some of icos are scam and there are some dont really payed. but of you review well the project thier are still paying and good icos.

you are totally correct. those kind of ico rating sites are being used for manipulating the icos before crowdsales. so they can collect more money by getting high ratings on those sites.
Doing own research is a must, even the ICO ratings are trust-able. ICO ratings are not the indicator of a quality or proven ICO project. They don't do very deeply research about the team or whitepaper. Moreover, some ICO projects pay the ICO rating platform to have high ratings. So, in this case, we cannot blame the ICO ratings. We must do own research to get a trusted project with our knowledge and experience.

We should not trust anyone. There are so many scams in ICO today. So, we must be careful and smart in choosing our projects. Whether it is so hard to detect which one is scam or not but learning by doing. Experience is the best teacher.
99% of ICO are scam today...the problem is to find the new coin that can do a big % of price grow...we must look for coins that are not ico or bounty but people are too stupid for this....I regret I did not get bought coins like litecoin,vertcoin or viacoin when they were very very low in 2015...there is a good dose of luck of course, but you must always do your own researches...for example watch Elicoin in livecoinwatch , is not an ICO or bounty... it's a coin with low mc, low supply, PoW whit cpu, no premine, active dev...only trading it on CREX24 for now...do you own researches in the thread in bitcointalk: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/anneli-elicoin-cpu-mining-only-exchange-available-3028302... people are too stupid for DYOR and got scammed by ICO or bounty...just my 2 cents...hope it helps...cheers
I think that what ICO rating sites say can only be used as a reference is not fully trustworthy, they only give a value that they think is the best according to them, so we just choose which Ico is the best of the best than we have to do our own research besides consuming time and not necessarily legit or it could be a scam

I dont really know if it will be east to spot scam project, either ICO reviews site are lying or not. My advice to everyone is to do our own due diligence on any project that interest you and many invest more than the amount you can afford to loss. Sometime the project could be in good shape and greed will just got into the CEO and run away with investor money. Example is the Extoke exchange recent scam. Everything was going on fine and the exchange platform has already be launch and it has started attracting some listing before the greed got into Ben ( CEO) and run away with investors money. About 40,000 people lost money to that project. So be wise and commit yourself more than you can bear.
yes it is true but your research may also prove wrong. so one needs to be extra careful while investing in ico projects. after seeing the results of ICO projects now i am very selective in making ico projects. but i am also sure that ico's will get back on track soon. Again people will start investing in ico projects just need to add filter that will identify and remove the scam projects.
