Success is so much more than money and isn't money in and of itself.  I would say to look at money as the base because once the financials are in order, it's much easier to focus on and give more time everything else- family, friends, etc.  However, it's hard to be successful without money.
The benchmark for success is different for everyone, because people whose lives still look simple in the eyes of others can also be said to be successful as long as they don't have debts or loans that they have to pay off every month. And every income earned can be directly enjoyed for every need they need, because they live without any pressure on them.
I guess happiness and satisfaction is still very possible even if you are minimal income earner. As long as you didn’t have due dates to pay, loan interest to settle, that way you will never live just relying on money alone. Although it’s undeniable these days that the success of each individual relies mostly on their earned finances, but if that’s the case, why do rich people in our society still aiming for success and happiness despite of their achieved wealth already?
The most important goal in everyone's lives is self realization. The way to fulfill this goal will be different for each individual, because each person is unique. In the situation of rich people you mentioned I believe that is what they lack. They do have money, but life isn't only about money, it's also about doing what you like, feel pleasure and satisfaction. It's about putting in practice the gifts received by God.

When people focus only in money they go through thorny paths, become cold as ice and forget about their roots. After all they become unhappy, because that has never been what they were supposed to do in life.

Let's stop making money and fame the only measure for success. Being successful is being happy and satisfied with ones fully achieved dreams. Money cannot buy satisfaction and happiness. Satisfaction and happiness is the true definition of success and anyone without this can not be declare as being successful.
If you could observe the five fingers you could notice they weren't created equally which means that in this life you cant ever have all you wished for, because success could mean different things to different individuals. To some it could mean making money money, to others it could mean getting to the top his educational career, while to others it could be living a happy and peacefull life
Depends on what you wish for. What I wish for in life right now is to never have financial problems, and I am sure that many people think like me, billions of people think like me in fact. Which means that if you gave me a million dollars then I have no other problems.

I would care about my health of course and that's something you can't purchase with money, even the richest people die from cancer, so it's not really a money related thing, but for things that I could acquire, money is number one. That would make me happy, peaceful, relaxed and many other things and then I can start to live a life, because right now? Life I am living is not really exceptionally well, it's just okay, there are worse than me so I should be happy of course.
We do all want to have no problem when it comes to financial which we had really be wishing because having monetary problems or financial ones wont really be simple yet you would really be falling into the category of being poor which even taking 3x meal a day wont really be that easy and this is something that we want to happen in our lives and thats why we do try and thrive our very best to achieve our goals and able to
make it better in terms of finances. It doesnt matter on what way we would able to achieve it whether it is through fame or achievement because just like been said by other members that once you do able to
achieve fame or something achievement then this is where money come from or flow which it would really be just the basic concept after all.

Satisfaction and happiness is the true definition of success and anyone without this can not be declare as being successful.
Satisfaction. A word that you can't apply to people TBH. Why? When a person achieved one and got satisfied into it, that person will find another thing that will satisfy them, and the cycle keeps going forever. People will never satisfy with one thing. They will find another way to satisfy them.

As for being successful, for me it's subjective because different people have different definition of success. For some, they are successful already when they are happy and satisfied. For me, being successful is when you achieve financial freedom. When the point comes where money will not a problem to you anymore. For me, as long as I don't have any problem financially and I'm happy with what I'm doing then I can consider myself successful already.
To me money is very important factor for the survival. It gives you power and strength
Having no money and longing for money is a mental challenge too - hard to cope. So let's be clear that money is the most important thing is life and private life is a good choice.
Fame is expensive - very very expensive.
Most people think that success is related to money. rich people have a lot of money, then he is a successful person. but not necessarily he has something that poor people have, happiness for example. therefore finding the purpose of life itself is very important, we who understand ourselves so that it can lead us to something we aspire to, that way we will have the spirit of life, and keep chasing dreams

For me success is having a contentment. It doesnt matter even you're not rich or famous as long as you're contented and happy with your life.

But obviously this is subjective because we have our own definition of success. Often, people who are born poor are not asking for more, as long as they have food, shelter and healthy, they already considered it as their wealth.

Thus it depends on us how we define ourselves as already successful.

Indeed, success is subjective, because everyone has a different standard of success. As you said, poor people usually become successful when
they can fulfill their needs. Then for rich people, success is usually judged by how many assets they have. Therefore we cannot equate everyone's
success, everyone has their own version of success. Because I started as a poor person, success is for me if I can live there is no shortage anymore,
I consider my life to be successful. So we have to ask each one of us what kind of life makes us happy. If we can achieve our happiness, it means
we have succeeded. So seek happiness for each of us to become successful people.

Recently I read a lot of biographies of successful people. because that's how I am. I like to motivate myself by reading stories from people who have been successful.
then I found several factors in determining a person's success. and surprisingly high IQ and high school in prestigious universities are not included in these factors. The name of the person who put forward the determining factors for success was an author of a book entitled millionaire mind, namely Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D.

The factors that he mentioned are:
1. Honesty (Being honest with all people)
2. Hard Discipline (Being well-disciplined)
3. Easy to get along with (Getting along with people)
4. Having a supportive spouse
5. Working harder than most people
6. Love for what you do (Loving my career/business)
7. Leadership (Having strong leadership qualities)
8. Competitive personality (Having a very competitive spirit/personality)
9. Living regularly (Being very well-organized)
10. Ability to sell ideas (Having an ability to sell my ideas/products)

And I also found that the idea and definition of success according to rich people and successful people who are already famous in the world. Take Bill Gates for example.
Bill Gates defines success as Happiness. he does not measure success based on the money he has earned. Instead, he measures every achievement by his own happiness. isn't that simple? yeah it's simple. because a successful life is happy. that is when we can feel happy even though it's in ordinary moments and in ordinary conditions.

Success to me is something that I feel financially stable and my source of income is solid for a long-term period.

It's not about having your own big house, cars, expensive stuff, and everything.

Those things I have mentioned are rewards for being smart and hard working wisely. Smiley
For we are living in this world which considers money as the most vital and become very necessary in a person’s life, then it’s always important that we should be financially stable at all times. And just thinking of this, I end up feeling secured and contented. So even if I don’t have luxury things in life, as long as I don’t live poorly, then that makes me happy and successful in life.
Everything can be bought by money even some say that money isnt everything but its really hard to make yourself that happy if you do live a life which does have less specially in needs plus having those wants
then it would be impossible that you could really not able to see on whats the main difference. Some might be that contented to having that 3x meal a day but we know that majority of us do really want more.
Not just on being greedy but we do have particular goals and target in life but majority would really be sticking on accumulating fiat as much as we could since we know
that nothing beats out when you do have lots of money.

It's fine to reach our goals and dreams but we should also be grateful for the simple things that we have. Sometimes we only need to appreciate the things that we have and the simple things that we achieved for us to determine what real success is. There will be moments when we will be chasing our dreams without noticing that we're already successful in our way. It isn't all about money or getting rich but also living a simple yet happy life.
It is also important to be very careful with what we set as our goals, I say this because there are people that are very driven and that will stop at nothing at getting what they want, and while this may seem to be a good trait they do this by sacrificing other very important factors in their lives, like their personal relationships or even their health, and if that's the case then what's the point of reaching those goals if you are going to be all alone and sick? In that case it would have been better to set yourself smaller goals which still allowed you to keep your personal relationships and health.

For me success all comes down to happiness.  I think the measure of ones success truly comes down to their personal level of happiness. Like you mention there's a whole lot of people with a lot of money that are absolutely miserable.  So to me success is doing something you at least enjoy, and being happy in your personal life.  You could be financially poor but very happy, and to me that person is still highly successful.

I can't agree more with you here... It's all about how we feel through the day, are we happy or grumpy?! With money, everything is easier we all know, but sometimes satisfaction comes from little things, with what we can afford at that moment! Fancy dinner or pizza in some park with good friends?!

A lot of money goes when you have a family to support, but I still have some money for the things I like, so for me, that's a success. Never too much, but enough to be comfortable and enjoy life!

Being successful is different for many people and different environments and it is based on understanding of different people.  I can say that to some people, being successful is when they have the money to buy whatever thing they wish to buy in this world. To them that is success.  There are people who married good wife and have a good family and they will tell you that they have peace of mind and they are therefore successful. It is totally different from many people due to their personal understanding and behaviour.
But in them all you cannot remove money, a financially poor man cannot say he is successful. Money answers everything.

I think I generally define success with achieving great things and making money over those achievements. I never believed money alone is achievement. You could have 10000 Bitcoin but you may be overweight and can't move so money buys you nearly nothing unless you lose weight.
I love popularity/fame honestly because it brings you more and more women but it must be accepted that women are also not the most important thing in life. Most important thing is to achieve yourself and feel happy about it.
And it was important that we are too thankful for what we get even though it was just a small achievement in life. It is just to say that not all of us make things like this, some are hopeless and remain dreaming. So whatever we want in life, money/riches, popularity, all of these comes by working hard and of course, we are motivated to do it. Because success is a reward for what we did and it comes momentarily.

True. You can never tell a person is successful when he has all the riches and fame, simply because not everyone has the same thinking and life’s goals. For all we know, success does not matter until we hit our life’s satisfaction. But the sad reality is no one gets satisfaction in life no matter how successful he is. I think that’s a human nature, but as long as we chose to be more happy and grateful in all our achievements, that what matters the most.

It is a human nature, indeed. In fact, we, humans, have evolved to be like this.

When I was a little kid, my life goal was to surround myself with chocolate and eat it all the time. I thought I didn't need anything else. Fast-forward to a grown-up man who can actually afford that kind of living, but it turns out that he needs much more than that. ... We are never fully satisfied, and it's a good thing. That's why we have progress, the constant improvement of the world around us.

I agree many people who have a lot of money and have great fame still didn't satisfy and not being grateful for what they have, maybe they have a lot of money but they didn't take care of themselves so they have problems with their health which make them spend a lot of money for the hospital. Also having a lot of money can bring us big stress if we can't control it we end up throwing our money to have fun or something.
