Personally I think immortality will be really nice. Being able to witness what will happen in the future or seeing and experiencing how far humans and technologies can advance. Just thinking about it makes me very excited. Grin

A lot of pharmaceutical companies work now on issues of prolonging life expectancy and preventing aging. I'm sure some technologies already exist but they are inaccessible to ordinary mortals  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Immortality exists in some form right now as, down to Sir Isaac Newtons laws of physics, energy never dies, it is simply transferred. By that logic we are all imortal we just have no knowledge of what happens when our conscious energy transfers from our bodies to whatever else.

I do get that you wasn't talking about what I was though. In the term of retaining memories etc. There is no reason it wouldnt be possible. it would be a matter of figuring out, if you will, the coding structure/language which the human brain uses internally and then making a system which can be incorporate it. Obviously this is the hard part though I do not think it is impossible.

We have bionic limbs which interact with nerves on a base level so maybe in the distant future we will have heads in jars while Bender and Fry run around the universe.

there is no eternity in the world, the riches and lives of man will not be eternal. everything can turn bad and get better.

Immortality. A very vast and unconventional subject to be discussed. This subject is close to the discussion about time travelling. Individuals or a group of individuals who believe in immortality claims to share factual knowledge about it but none of it has been proven yet, maybe not globally. Imagine the immerse effect on each and every move all of us are going to make if immortality is true. All of these, whether we prove immortality right or wrong, goes down to one question. For whatever reason, it is better for us humans to not get a hold of this power.

I do not understand why people need immortality, this will be unbearably boring. Life is created in order to learn to enjoy things in a short period of time and appreciate what is.

I think that immortality does not make sense and you do not need to try to look for something to implement it. We need to develop and help others. The soul is immortal and it will live after the death of the body.

We don't want to become immortal because its a curse. You will witness your friends' and relatives' deaths. And find another friends an family and watch them die again. Until you will decide to live alone.

Immortality would be a terrible punishment for anyone. Once you've solved the problem of dying, you'd become aware of the problem of not dying.

What do you think about immortality? Will people find immortality in the future?
Is it possible to transfer a digital copy of the brain to a computer environment?

Immortality is cool. I wonder what it feels like you are not aging. I imagine myself what if I am immortal. But if that's so, I want everybody else as immortal. Because it feels alone if only few are immortals and you saw your loved ones dying.

I think immorality on a lower level is present to every human being because we are tempted and we sin because of the evil. However, i also think that everyone has a good side.

I think it is not impossible for man to find ways on extending life, maybe even as close to immortality but this will lead to more problems like over population and the only way I could think right now to fix over population is to venture and to claim other planets. But I believe everyone will be immortal once we die, and I also believe that there are only 2 place for us to go and we can only go to one of these two places.

i dont think it will be possible to upload your "mind" for at least 5000 years ahead from now.

i give it 75-150 years. technology ain't hanging around. it's gonna be a monster of a task but 75 years ago there weren't computers of any type, now look where we are.

Yes, through the last decades, we been able to make all this hardware, etc. alot smaller and more powerful..
But we still dont know how to measure consciousness. And i really doubt it can ever be uploaded to any mechanical hardware as we know it. Maybe it can be copied, but thats a whole other scenario. the "wires" in a brain is so small that no machine whatsoever would be able to make a replica.

The only way i see it becoming possible, would be growing a whole new brain, usisng the old brains dna. and then somehow upload it onto that brain.
