The recent price drop of Bitcoin and some bad news on the market may cause a new round of FUD for investors. With the price going down, Bitcoin will be more volatile in the short term and the Altcoins that depend on Bitcoin will go through more ups and downs. In this bear market, more investors are hesitant to any Altcoin investment. Apart from the macro environment factor, what truly holds you back from investing in Altcoins ? Please let me know your thoughts.

Most of these investors you're talking about are making the most common mistake among crypto investors. They buy altcoins when they start to rise, the same is true for bitcoin investors. Surprisingly, people bypass cheap coins and happily pay attention to coins that have become more expensive than they were yesterday. It's some kind of crypto paradox, no other way around it. Any investor should buy when things are down, when prices are in the red zone, and sell when things are up. But many investors, for some reason, do exactly the opposite.

When a bear market occurs, the thing that makes me not want to invest in altcoins is that I'm afraid the price will fall. even more so if it is a new altcoin. although this can be seen as an opportunity to increase the number of altcoins at a low price, it is quite difficult to invest again when we still have these altcoins. seeing its value fall is enough to make a lot of people frustrated.

The market always goes up and down. While investing in any coin, keep in mind that no one can guarantee that the market will go up. When you buy a coin, it can also go down.
But if the price falls, you can reduce the cost by buying more coins. If you have invested in a good and strong coin, then you don't need to worry.  The more tokens you take, the more profit you will make as the price rises.

I myself tend to choose Altcoin investments over Bitcoin, in my opinion investing in altcoins as an opportunity to increase the number of other altcoins at low prices. by investing in altcoins I think the return is also faster if the investment is small.
but there is one thing that makes me worried about investing in Altcoins, namely my fear that if I choose the wrong Altcoin, and of course the altcoin will disappear in the market or the price will continue to decline. this is a fear that sometimes becomes an obstacle for me

The best time to invest in altcoins are during bull run, that’s basically when most altcoins are always pumping massively, if you invest in altcoin during bear market, you might endup not making enough money or even losing money, during bear market people focus on only bitcoin, why doing bull run people focus on both bitcoin and altcoins.

altcoins can be very profitable if we can choose which coin we will invest in, but that is indeed very difficult, you cannot predict which ones will go up and down, especially if you look at the very bad market conditions in 2022, interest in altcoins is very small. but if you look at the current market conditions, I think altcoins will start to be in demand again, so now is the right time to buy altcoins
Altcoins are like lottery tickets honestly. I've got little success with investing in altcoins if it's all about those tremendous gains from different altcoins. I've got some alts but they're the popular ones like ETH and that's where I can say that I've got a good time.

But for those altcoins and those investors that have been gaining a lot from their investments through it and got tremendous gains. It's either they've been lucky just like the others or they're dedicated into the search for those type of projects.

And another drawback on it is how much they've lost first before getting into those successful altcoin picks.

Despite the fact that investing in Altcoins is too risky, especially for new projects but can't deny that it was even more profitable than Bitcoin (based on my experienced). You'll somehow be thinking about what hyped projects can do for the investors, 1000x profit is quite possible if they got lucky which we can't get from Bitcoin or even ETH. Might be thinking that altcoins are just following the trend of BTC price but people still have the guts to invest in them because of such profit views which are more interesting.

Many investors are turning to altcoins as the market price of Bitcoin remains flat.  Because everyone thinks that Altacoin can give high returns very quickly whereas Bitcoin has very low return potential.People are investing in altcoins because of the market conditions despite the high risk in altcoins.  People are not afraid to take risks for high returns.Although altcoins have some good aspects due to which people still trust them to get good returns.A bear market seems to me  more of a trend for people to buy and hold altcoins. Altcoin enthusiasts invest because they see opportunities.Looking for opportunities in the hope of more profit

The point is that the way you are looking and the way I am looking at the market may not be the same. In terms of allocating investable cash flow capital, I started with a 5:5 btc/alt ratio.
And I think the DCA process can last until 2024 and maybe 2025 will be the time to take some profits.
The script has already been built and just needs to be properly implemented before any impact.

Never put all your eggs in one basket. You have practiced this well. I like your 5:5 Btc/Alt ratio because it looks safer than solely investing in one coin. I believe a bull market is on the way so it's better for us to be well prepared. I will adopt your principle to play safe. By the way, if you don't mind, please refer to this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annfiredao-social-daodidweb3-identitysbtssupereconomy-5441307 to find the white paper and more detailed info about our project. actually I'm not afraid to invest in altcoins as long as we have to know good altcoins. because even though bitcoin prices go down and altcoins usually go down, but usually when bitcoin prices go up, altcoin prices usually go up
so in my opinion in this case there is nothing to fear as long as there are still many bitcoin enthusiasts.

Of course, in this case, everyone has different opinions, that is, there are people who like to invest in altcoins even though the prices are not good, and there are also those who are afraid to invest in altcoins because they see the price of bitcoin going down.

and I personally also don't dare to invest in altcoins if bitcoin's condition is not good, because I'm afraid of losing my money because if altcoins go down then the price can drop very much.

My concerns is that the some investors may be hesitant to invest in Altcoins during a bear market. Altcoins tend to have a higher level of volatility compared to more established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This volatility can lead to sudden and significant price drops, which can be unnerving for investors. Additionally, Altcoins may not have the same level of liquidity as Bitcoin, which means that it may be more difficult to buy or sell Altcoins at a desirable price. Finally, there is always a risk of fraud and scams in the cryptocurrency market, and Altcoins are not immune to these risks. Therefore, investors may choose to be cautious when investing in Altcoins during a bear market
Thanks for Sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The altcoins volatility is a double-edged sword. If prices are not volatile, how can you gain big profits when bull market comes ? Investing in altcoins in the bear market is risky especially for investing in new projects but this is really what makes the high return possible. The problem is how to choose the promising altcoins from the bad ones. I myself have no clear answer to the question but still try my best to practice it. Hope you'll get my point. And also, you might want to know our FireDAO project if you have time. I wouldn't mind investing in the altcoins that are at the top but im only hesitant on the newer altcoins because I don't know their future. Some of them might seem to run smoothly on their early days, months, years but they might collapse later on.

I already saw lots of that, that is why for my safety I am avoiding them now as much as I can but creators of these new altcoins shouldn't worry. They can still continue their passion because there are still people who only invest on them as they think they are more profitable than the older coins. If alts become more volatile now because of BTC then that's also a great thing for those who likes volatility.

We can't deny that many altcoins are existing without real use case and likely end up as shitcoins. I think this is one of the reason why many investors are hesitant to invest in alts because of higher risk compared to investing in Bitcoin. However even it is risky, there's a chance to gain huge in alts if you invest in hidden gem though it's not easy to find one.

I have alts in my portfolio but I only invest in established coins because they already prove their worth. As I've said, there's a hidden gem in new alts but you need to dig deeper and DYOR.

Investing in altcoins is still a good idea but it is still important to be skeptical because there are still scam projects and nonpotential altcoins that might only trap their investors. Some altcoins are worth investng and there are also altcoins to be avoided. Maybe the reason why there are people who are holding themselves back from investing in altcoins is the fear of losing their funds because of the wrong pick of coins. That's why it is always advised to choose well-established altcoins so we can have a better guarantee of gaining profit.
What is holding people back is the huge amount of scams that exist on the altcoin market, if the ratio of good projects and bad projects was reasonable I think we will see a great deal of more interest coming from the community, but since there are so many bad altcoins out there people simply feel they will be wasting their money by investing their money in those coins, and if that is the case they might as well just buy bitcoin and be done with it, and save themselves the headache of investing in a new altcoin and all the risk this entails.

It's always good to be cautious about our investment. DYOR is a must for everyone. If you are interested, why don't you take a look at our project FireDAO ?This thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annfiredao-social-daodidweb3-identitysbtssupereconomy-5441307 could give you more detailed info about our project. I am sorry but bitcoin was a dollar, and now it is over 25k, do you really think that the coin you are trying to shill could end up with 25k+ increase? I really do not think so, it's impossible. This is why it's hard to take them seriously as well.
I have invested twice in 2 different projects that made me over 1000x, and several times to projects that have made over 100x. Some of them actually paid 50x my investment back just with free airdrops later on. Those add up.

While it's given that you would have to find right ones and most of them are just going to ground, you most definitely can hit gold with those. Comparing them to eth and btc is a pipe dream, but sometimes it's better to gamble and buy some low caps. I speak it from experience from someone who has missed some serious boats and stiil found new ones.

I made most of my money from selling pumped coins that don't exist any more but also sold my eth when it was $12 because i listened to bitcoin maxis and thought it was overpriced and bnb when it was around $1 so i know something about regret.

Thanks for sharing your experiences that could teach us a lesson. I find that "timing" determines everything involved in crypto investment. I tend to believe that you are quite a knowledgeable and experienced investor and of course you made a lot of money out of crypto investments but still, you have your own regrets that may have made you even more successful. To most of us, the most difficult part is the timing, knowing when to buy in and out. Anyway, this needs a lot of factors especially luck.

Altcoins are straightforward and readily pump in the market without the notice of Bitcoin, in both the bear and bull seasons. Although there are countless altcoins, it is your choice and responsibility to look for the one with a strong roadmap. They are initially traded by investors who profit significantly from the project. Due to their terrible experiences with earlier projects, such as the abrupt heavy dump of Terra Luna that dropped to the ground without leaving a trace, traders have shown anxiety in the space, and they have learned their lesson not to trust any project, regardless of how long it has existed there.
