I voted for 20% and that is mainly that the current concept of bitcoin is to complicated for most people. Just look how 'big' paypal is. NOt very big compared to how long they exist.
The same applies for bitcoin and any other electronic third party service.

I think they will be 2-5% . we are talking about 140 millions person at least and reaching this percentage will be a good progress for bitcoin

China and India have a huge role to play in this.
If Bitcoin adoption takes off in these 2 countries, you can easily have this figure crossing 5%.

It's going to be low for a long time.  Bitcoin is going to be very gradual and even when it does become more popular, there are still going to be a lot of people that don't use it.

Most likely around 30-40% of people might be aware of the digital currency, but when it comes to owning one the probabilities are very low. I believe we could see some 5-10% of the people own at least a small portion of any of the digital currency.

15% of the world population might hear about the bitcoin, but only 1% will own some bitcoin, very small amount.

I've been running a poll for some time now about the value of 1 bitcoin by 2020 and it's safe to say a lot of different opinions and guesses are made.
This poll completes the other one and i'm really looking forward to everyone's input in this.

Tnx for your input  Cool

well up to 5% and not more, people thinks that everyone will know about bitcoin but sad truth that lots of people either don't know what bitcoin is, or are afraid to start using it because of how bitcoin isn't stable, this will take time, more stable bitcoin will be - more people will use bitcoin so maybe after 10more years, 10% will use it
I expect 5 to 10% people will use bitcoin in 2020 and 15 to 20% will use it in another 10 years, this is because proper awareness about bitcoin is not given to most of the countries.
Yeah not many people in the world are going to make use of Bitcoin in 2020 I believe. People are just not aware of the fact that Bitcoin exist.
So it would already impossible for them to use it.

A very small percentage I believe. There are so many people that are just not interested in online currencies they just do not have times for it or think that it is to much work.

Yeah we cannot expect huge percentage of people using it, but it will be more in compare to present users, as bitcoin will become more popular over a period of time.

To be honest i don't even know how many people using bitcoin right now, are there few millions of downloaded wallets, but many people using multiple wallets. How then we can talk about numbers in future?
Can we say how many real users of bitcoin we have on this day?

There might be 100,000 people in the world use bitcoin actively. If the number is increase to 1 million, the price will be 100 times higher.

It's highly unlikely that BTC adoption is gonna be above 2% by 2020. I even thought if it's gonna be at 1%. 2 persons in every 100 must have BTC for us to even think it's possible. More merchants being convinced to accept bitcoin is definitely a step in the right direction. But it's going to be a slow process.

Depends if they buy coffee or buy cars with it.   Not just frequency but I imagine if people do use bitcoin for things like coffee it will be more then 12 times on the same basis of pennies in your pocket, use them or lose em.    The main thing here to me is convenience, its why the card people (visa etc I guess) are so in favour of that touchless technology.    I dont even want it as it seems a liability to me for security but they want you to use their card and these guys arent stupid, its convenience and ease of use.

Can bitcoin easily compete with billion dollar budgets going into normal banking technology, we will see this blockchain system fail if it becomes any kind of hassle for normal people to use.   It cant be elitist cryptographic perfection alone if you want mainstream, its got to be easy and also everything thats good about bitcoin.  No simple task, ironically :p

If 10 million people know about bitcoin and use it 12 times a year, the bitcoin price will be many thousands.

I dont think the number will reach more than 10% by 2020.

I do not think so. The adoption of the bitcoin will be very slow in the initial stage. It might be 2-5% by then.

Maybe around 1-5%.
Although bitcoin is a hot trend right now, but most people are still unfamiliar with it.

It depends the price of bitcoins imo. If the bitcoin's price so high, i'm sure on that years more people will own bitcoins. But if the price not so high, like only $50, only few people will own bitcoin.

Yeah, price matters when we think about the people using bitcoin by 2020. Bitcoin has got the potential to go high than moving down towards the fall. I believe even if price goes down users completely depending upon bitcoin will make alternate solution.

the price of bitcoin will play an important role but that is not all of it.
i agree that if the price is high it will gain a lot of attention but the number of people who will "use" bitcoin should be because of the benefits of using bitcoin like the fast and cheap transactions.
