Altcoin season should come during BTC halving or once coronavirus issue fades guess market will be back then.
Very optimistic though. But the world needs to come out of the crisis first and then get the economic condition stable again. Opinions are divided among what is going to happen with the halving and its effect on prices now that the pandemic has occurred.

The halving will come as it has a fix schedule but the coronavirus might stay longer, God forbid, but I'm just trying to be realistic here as the its been spreading so fast especially in the US which is a major country.
True, the halving does not depend on the pandemic. It will come no matter what. So the expected pump that was supposed to happen before the halving may not happen at all. We might not see altcoin season at all this year anymore because the world economy is going to need time to recover.

Quote
As in BTC halving its expected that the value of bitcoin will rise but it does not mean we will also see an altcoin season, it was never a guarantee.
In fact I am more of the opinion that altcoin season is a gimmick and just a false hope to altcoin holders. Wink

Altcoin season is pending at the moment. Financial markets all over are way down below the below. What is happening globally will dictate which direction and when we move upwards. However, there will be handful of altcoins that will still perform well, but might not be an optimal performance. Let's deal with convid19.

That isn't true. Altcoins have great time when Bitcoin's dominance weans. It's obvious that when more people buy and trade Bitcoin they neglect altcoins. Thus dominance for Bitcoin increases and that of altcoins crashes. For instance, right now Bitcoin controls 64.9% of the total market cap and this won't give altcoins air to rise. But once the dominance lowers to say below 60%, go check the prices of altcoins and see how great they would be.
Correct. The current dominance of bitcoin shows that BTC is more attractive to investors in extreme market changes. The dominance of Bitcoin often decreases when altcoin and Ethereum increase in value, it means there is a change in investor strategy in adjusting market conditions. So the graphs look like they have the same pattern, look at this

I have gone through everybody's chats which it's all true, altcoins is dependent on BTC and BTC growth is yet to be seen but I do think pretty soon as the halving is soon approaching we could see such. Anybody holding altcoins thinking for long moon may end up sinking. Few altcoins moon hard but based on news. Let's be hopeful!

Yes the price or fate of altcoins depends on that of BTC and that is the way it has been for a while now or rather since inception. When people aren't going for BTC they are going for altcoins hence altcoins surge in price and vice versa. But nowadays, there seems to be a change in events as most times both BTC and good altcoins surge in price together; these good altcoins are mostly major altcoins and a few others which have what it takes. Nevertheless, no one can categorically say when there will be altcoin season as this space can't really be predicted.

I always tell people that everyday is altcoins season. We do not and cannot predict as before Altcoin season anymore unlike before people predict altcoins. Those days are over unless market bounces back like before but with the move of everything now Altcoin including BTC is unpredictable. Let's understand it and work with project teams for news and updates.

In the past, altcoins have enjoyed immense gains during altseasons. Well this happens only if there is Bitcoin dominance... And I believe there are two types of principles to follow them

* Bitcoin dominance Increases when more and more people buy and simply hold BTC.

* Bitcoin dominance decreases when more and more people sell BTC.

So altcoins fate is purely depend on BTCs price reaction or altcoins are independent???guys please share your thoughts on this.

This is possible altcoins are dependent on Bitcoin. I noticed that during Bitcoin bullrun only new coins are showing highest bullrun. If any new coin listed a good exchange during Bitcoin bullrun, price could hit top even I'm surprised that team management doesn't bother to price. Overall by research,, altcoins aren't independent from Bitcoin price.

it mostly depends on BTC swings, but some altcoins have life on their own, and rise when BTC is not, you can wait for the season, or DYOR and find altcoins that are actually doing well currently, still former option is safer than later, but rather both are with high risk
You need to be more precise in choosing your call, there are lots of influence that might take before you'll find the right project to invest
your money, the more you engage to the project the more chance that you'll be able to project the possible next outcome.
Alts with good background with developers who really paying attentions in finding ways to succeed mostly being supported by traders.

Altcoin season would more likely occur when the market is back to its feet again but most of the time it is when the market price of Bitcoin is on uptrend. But it doesn't mean always, there are times wherein the market prices of altcoins are on greenmarks while Bitcoin is in red marks. It is just that, parallelism would be mostly observed during the altcoin season.
Not in such a hard times. We will see altseason only when (if) both markets starts to recover
Indeed true. It is still blurry to have vision of such thing as of the moment due to the recent crash which made it more difficult for the market prices to again recover. But I believe that such thing is still possible once the socioeconomic crisis end, which could be a good start, then recovery and other things would more likely follow.
Impossible to predict, uncharted waters for now. Holding 70% BTC and the rest divided into ETH, NWC and LINK. No trade zone for me ATM.
Trading is not preferred at this moment by many people. Investing on the other hand is. In my case, I do hold various altcoins but most of my holdings are in Bitcoin and I bet many people here, are also doing the same thing since the recovery of Bitcoin is more anticipated by most investors I think.

An altcoin season is actually a moment where 80% of altcoins experience a significant increase in price, volume and maintains a high price for couple of days,
But in crypto currency, there hasn't be an altcoin season without bitcoin experiencing a bull run.

So altcoins mooning sequentially is dependent on bitcoin experiencing a bull run because most trade pairs are btc pegged.

After born new coin it's free coin which means doesn't depends on any coin until first supply is finished. Almost all top price is followed by Bitcoin. Only separately development news allow any coin to pump even when Bitcoin price dump. Another bullrun will come to us when top coin development will complete.

There won't be a particular time for altcoin season so to say some tokens will get pumped by whales from time to time be on alert should your bags get pumped.
You are right, we will not be able to determine when the altcoin season will begin. It can start whenever whales want it because they control the market. A lot of people have been buying altcoins since 2018 and waiting for the altcoin season but I think it will not come too soon, this market will continue to collapse and discourage all investors

This is very simple, any coin/token price will go up once more traders start trading that coin/token, this will big volume is exchange, some people manipulate the trade and create volume. same apply on bitcoin.

The market will always be unpredictable and no one can tell the exact time of the altcoin season. We have to create good strategy and stop expecting for the right moment instead grab the opportunity around you. I also hold good altcoins and most of them are still down, I can’t be too impatient for that because if I sold early, then I might lose the chance for a higher price. The altcoin season will come, this can give at least hope for the hodlers of altcoins.
We can only tell which is the right moment to accumulate and we are now at the right moment because the market is struggling due to the global crisis.

If bitcoin were able to had a bull run in the past, it could still happen in the future, and holding is really one of the best strategy to make us successful, therefore we should have mentality of the holder, we put in mind the word "HOLD" so we will not forget that we need to hold regardless of what will happen, and discipline ourselves to only sell when we are in great profit, that's how we get good profit for holding.
