Bitcoin is a crypto dollar. U have to buy it to buy most alts. It used in all ICO I know. Ethir can be pumped x2 or dumped) I holding BTC.
Bitcoin is rock solid long term investment. Though it may be high volatility right now but you are assured that price will recover immediately after the dip. It's been bullish for quite sometime now because of wide adoption and going mainstream. Though there is some disadvantages in bitcoin like network fee is high and transaction speed is slow...workaround is to pay more network fee to get prioritize but with all these it seems it is still the crowd favorite. It's because of its stability and rock solid and lots of room for higher price. Overall it's still the best and secure investment for you.
Bitcoin,Ethereum,waves all of are good investment.but you need a lot of capital for invest into bitcoin.but you can easily invest into waves with small capital.
I think Bitcoin is better than Ethereum now. Ethereum price is stable meanwhile Bitcoin price is predicted hit about $20,000 in few next years.

As far as from investment point of view BTC is the best choice.Its price is high at current but once you made an investment you will reap good amount and investing in ETH is also a good choice as it is leading altcoin but not good when compared to BTC.So start dealing in crypto business and later on with knowledge invest in soffernt altcoins and ICO"s. investing in bitcoin and ethereum is a good choice for new people which want to join into crypto currency and i think the best platform for a long term investment is your own private wallet. you can use jaxx to save this coins and you can directly buying ethereum if you have bitcoin balance in your jaxx wallet. i don't think to save your coins for a long term investment in any of exchanges becaus its not safe for you and no one will guarantee that your account can safe for a long term.
Bitcoin and Waves.
For short term none of them. Wait until the dust of the current problems/uncertainty is settled about these two coins and invest in another solid altcoin or wait one or two week until we know what is happening now with BTC (correction overdue!) And ETH (frozen Ethereum 1.5 USD value / potential fork?)

if you looking for the long term investment just go to bitcoin.. because bitcoin is very popular currency than to ethereum now... we know that price of bitxoin is so expensive but this is wort it..
If would also prefer BTC for the both short and long term investment wise. ETH also you can invest some of your funds so that you can have a diversified portfolio and can earn a decent income from any rise in any of the coin. Also after the fork being cancelled the btc is going to spur now.
I can choose both of them ETH and BTC for now, because currently I am holding the two currency. The confidence I had was so intense, and I can compare it with a racing sports match like bitcoin is having the leading and followed by ethereum. For now those holdings I had can be on sell next year and that would be profitable for both of those coins, that's why my emotions now is really at a well controlled stage.
I suggest you invest in Bitcoin get to know the tech behind it, and do as much research as you can on Ethereum. Then compare the two the pros and the cons. Then diversify you investment you should be able to kill two birds with one stone.

You can go with ETH for a long term investment. As the price of ETH is less now, it's easy to purchase ETH . The turn over would be really huge. After few years. bitcoin and etherium were both good for long term investment though bitcoin also be good for shorter term of investment because bitcoins price tends to jump quickly in just a matter of time unlike etherium that is known to increase a little longer ( maybe month or years). overall i suggest put 70% on bitcoins and then 30% on etherium to get the best results.
Bitcoin is the best for long term investments because it has many users and Bitcoin can be used as payment in various places

Go for bitcoin because its more trusted than any other coin. You can buy and hold it, you can simply have profit when the price increase
eth is very new btc is known as tested definitely take the advice of the experienced people in the forum and start with btc
