Eventually in the future, bitcoin will be replaced by another crypto currency but not soon. Bitcoin will be available till 2023 for mining. After that bitcoin will remain the costliest crypto currency. However, those who have already set up their expensive mining system, what will they do?

They will obviously find another crypto currency to mine and that crypto currency will become the next big thing after bitcoin. Everything in life, has a expiry date and bitcoin is no exception. But that is not going to happen anytime soon.
You will have to explain some details. Why mining will only be available until 2023? Because we should still have a good 100 years until no new blocks are mined. Also the fees will take over as the reward. Altcoins use different algorithms, with ASCIs it is not possible to switch to the next best coin.
Probably people will not look for another system anymore, they trust bitcoin so much that is why the price that we see now is rising. That is the statement of the majority and create some good demand to make it happen. If there is a specific altcoin that will replace bitcoin, we cannot ascertain what it is due to their huge number.
yes they even do not need to feel about new currency, as bitcoin is still number one and the best crypto currency which is providing the best option to its users, therefore i do not think that we even need to think about another crypto currency.
Bitcoin is the biggest because the community is strong, and it maintains a lot of its respect from the rest of the world because of a lot of the stunning achievements it has accomplished, such as being valued over $1k, being relatively popular with some online financial systems and so, among other things. It's not like other cryptos can just show up, even if they are better.
Bitcoin could be supplanted by another crypto, this won't be the first run through a development is dislodged by another advancement that does likewise yet better, take a gander at Walkmans they were progressive until the point that they were supplanted by discman and after that ipods.

bitcoin is irreplaceable...i mean if any altcoin gonna surpass bitcoin price that doesnt mean they will replace bitcoin...
Yes, any coin will go up with its quality. Bitcoin has passed many test until now and has passed each and now is on its way to success. As we all know there are 21 million total bitcoins to be mined and until they all are mined, the price for bitcoin will continue going up and may even cross 10k $ soon. Bitcoin is truly irreplaceable. There are some coins even costlier than bitcoins but of no use because bitcoins have already taken the main power and each crypto now depends on bitcoins.

That's possible. Bitcoin will always exist as it is completely separate blockchain from the other coins. You cannot replace what coin with another. It is not possible in the scheme of cryptocurrency. Coins will make it or not but you cannot replace one with another even in a fork situation it is not been replaced at the simply been altered.

We cant predict it, but why cant happen, bitcoin is following litecoin, segwit were incorporated first at it, ltc isnt just soo profitable as bitcoin, when the mine period ends i dont doubt some altcoin will hit and replace bitcoin, till there we are getting more and more altcoins wich are growing and getting closer bitcoin value.
What do you mean by bitcoin is following litecoin, in terms of what? hrmmm Huh You are saying that it is not profitable so why would we choose LTC over BTC. I'd rather focus on collecting more bitcoins than buying altcoins, I just need to keep it and buy more to gain huge profits on the next ath.

bitcoin is still consider too complicated for normal consumers

i believe it will be replaced by some more consumer friendly alt-coin

the coin that is as easy as to access and recognizable

Complicated, what can be complicated, in creating in account in an exchange or online wallet or in installing a desktop wallet?, if you mean keeping your seed or your password safe that is something that you need to do anyway with your credit cards and your social media accounts, in order to send money you only need the address that you can copy paste or that you can scan, bitcoin is already very easy to use.

I dont think bitcoin can be replaced. Bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrency.
That cryptocurrency that possibly replaced bitcoin in the future will go a long way to prove its worth.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

Bitcoin is like a father to all other cryptocurrencies. Only time will show us if there is a chance of any altcoin to surpass bitcoin. For sure there are some altcoins that have better security and low transaction fee than bitcoin, yet more cheaper e.g Dash, Monero and Zcash. But as I said only time will show us which one.

Experience the Future of DeFi
bitcoin will never be replaced. it is the first and biggest cryptocurrency that came to exist and it is the pioneer of this technology which everybody else is just copying from to create their own alternative coin (altcoin).

and to those who are saying ethereum will replace bitcoin I have to say there have been a lot of ethereums before eth with a different name who claimed to be the "thing" and they even came close but they have all faded away in the history.

Yes, Bitcoin will never be replaced. Even Ethereum has many features with Bitcoin (some features ETH is way better), Bitcoin will still the Mother of all Cryptos.

probably not. I think so. As you can see, as with the global currency market today, many of the potential currencies become global currencies but the dollar does not seem to have been replaced by any big money. btc too.
Bitcoin will still bitcoin, it is just like your mother, your mother will still be our mother, and no one can replace them. It is just like that, bitcoin will remain bitcoin as well and even if there are other crypto-currencies will appear they will also stay what they are.

In the short term, probably not. Since the creation of Bitcoin, there have been hundreds of altcoins created that are supposed to be the next big cryptocurrency. The first one to gain any real success was Litecoin, and now we’ve seen the likes of Peercoin, Dogecoin, and others get their time to shine. While some of the newer variations of Bitcoin offer some interesting characteristics, it’s important to remember the power of Bitcoin’s position as the first cryptocurrency ever created. For a variety of reasons, Bitcoin is already halfway around the track as these new altcoins are just about to takeoff from the starting line. but don't seem to have what Bitcoin does. I think down the road potentially, but as of now the focus seems to be on how to make Bitcoin better, safer and more accessible. We're pretty bullish on it.

Nope, the reply has been posted by a lot of users too, but bitcoin can not be replaced in just matter of days or even months. It has been the first cryptocurrency and it can not be replaced, what would happen to the other cryptos if bitcoin dissappears? everybody would be panicking, and the market would go to zero, it is incredible, but it might happen if bitcoin dissapears, or if it just gets replaced.

I bet this thread is asking if it can be replaced regardless of time meaning it can be whenever e.g. after 20years although with its current situation right now i also think that a

month is not possible. even if its the first cryptocurrency that doesn't guarantee that it will always triump among all of them so the possibility is always there. i really doubt that

bitcoin will disappear although its value might fall to cents if this happens then some cryptocurrency officially claimed the kings spot or worst cryptocoins might not be a thing

anymore.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
I'm not be sure that this will happen. Most likely, bitcoin will always remain a favorite. Too many people, forces and money are involved in this.

Yes, Bitcoin will always be the number one. But the price will go so high that the poor will not afford to buy it. For rich people, they do not worry about buy and investing Bitcoin. They do not worry about buying some mining rigs for Bitcoin, because they a lot of money.

But for people like me will need to collect Bitcoin in order to get some money. People like will choose to mine other cryptocurrency because it will be easier and do not have many competitors unlike Bitcoin. So, that is the different between rich people and poor people. That is the replacement I'm talking about.

Could be that the Bitcoin will be raplced by the ethereum, as the Vitalik is working so hard on that system. Vitalik trying to scale the ecosystem of ethereum so big as the Visa system and ect.
So there is no real answer which cryptocurrency will cost higher after few years. It's all depends on the technologies and the protocol.
